Acorn Inn, Evershot, Dorset

Built in the 16th century from local honey-coloured stone, the dog-friendly Acorn Inn is a traditional British pub in the heart of the chocolate box village of Evershot.
Dogs are greeted like long-lost friends and get to rub noses with the myriad of friendly locals’ dogs in the bar including the owner’s own dog, Luna the English Bulldog. Literary fans will notice that the Inn is mentioned in Thomas Hardy’s novel, Tess of the d’Urbervilles and little has changed.
Expect old beams, low ceilings, oak panelling, flagstone floors, fabulous gastropub food and stylish bedrooms. The Melbury Park Estate is at the bottom of the village with its resident population of fallow, red and sika deer.
