Manor Farm Cottage is a comfortable and inviting holiday home nestled just outside the delightful market town of Northallerton, and a mile outside the picturesque village of Appleton Wiske. Situated on the edge of a working farm, this detached property is an ideal base for families, friends, outdoor enthusiasts, and keen walkers. Inside, Manor Farm Cottage is bright and spacious and has been warmly decorated to create a welcoming home from home. The ground floor features a large comfortable living room, which boasts a superb wood burner adding additional heat and charm. A well-equipped and well-presented kitchen with a country flair enables you to cook up delicious meals and serve up over the lovely large dining table. From the kitchen/dining room patio doors lead you onto the fabulous patio area with stunning views over the rolling hills of Yorkshire which surround the property, perfect for an al fresco breakfast or an evening drink to soak up the setting. In addition, there is also a superb hot tub towards the bottom of the garden. All three bedrooms are stylishly decorated with fresh cotton bed linen guaranteeing a perfect night’s sleep. The master bedroom on the first floor offers en-suite facilities including a roll top bath and dressing room. There is also a separate shower room on the ground floor meaning there is no waiting around in the morning.
With Manor Farm Cottage set close to Northallerton, the local pubs, restaurants and independent shops are within easy reach of the property. You can explore the stunning North York Moors National Park, which is full of cycle trails and fantastic, scenic walks, including the very popular Rievaulx Abbey. Other nearby towns and cities include the fabulous Helmsley, Thirsk, Richmond and a little further afield York, Harrogate and Leeds which can be accessed by the train station in Northallerton or around a one-hour drive. The beautiful east coast can also be found in half an hour so why not pack your bucket and spade and have a family day out at the beach. Alternatively, if you wanted to leave the car and have a day exploring there are plenty of picturesque walks right on your doorstep. There is also a lovely little village pub a mile from the cottage offering home cooked food and a large selection of local ales.

Tranmire Cottage is beautifully furnished throughout, with an authentic country charm. Careful attention to detail means it is both very well-equipped and comfortable. It also has the most fabulous freestanding roll top bath with a rain shower over - a grand feature, and great for relaxing in after a day out.
The cottage sleeps six in three bedrooms, with up to three dogs welcome to join you; there are many delightful walks nearby you and they will love. The owners provide route suggestions as well as walking maps and books, and a guide packed with information about the area.
Throughout the ground floor there is underfloor heating, ensuring the large reception area can be used for drying as well as storing outdoor gear if necessary. The living room also has a large range with an open fire, great for cosying up in the winter months. This room bathed in light from the large sash window with window seat, which looks out into the lawned garden and secure paddock beyond, which is shared with the neighbouring owners. There is a dedicated seating area and BBQ within the garden, so that guests can make the most of sunny afternoons during their stay. You can collect eggs from the hens which can stay in a secure paddock or free range, depending on guest requirements.
The quintessential country kitchen is ideal for creating home-cooked meals using these eggs or other fresh local ingredients from the many farm shops in the area. Savour time together around the dining table, planning the events for the days ahead over dinner.
Up on the first floor you have the most incredible master bedroom featuring that bath, as well as a king-size bed and a separate ensuite room with a toilet and washbasin. There is then also a double bedroom as well as a twin bedroom, both with wardrobes and drawers and served by a family bathroom which has a bath with shower over. All rooms have radiators or heated towel rails. Each bedroom is beautifully themed and named after different nearby dales: Rosedale – just to the North, the heart of the moors, Farndale – renowned for the blankets of daffodils that stretch out along the river through the spring, and Ryedale – which makes up the Vale of Pickering to the south.
Within Lastingham there is a historic church, several holy wells, and a village hall where community events, all open to visitors, are held. The Blacksmith’s Arms is extremely popular with locals and travellers alike for the quality and value of their food. Dogs are welcome in their large beer garden which has shelters and heaters, and a wood-fired pizza oven.
Lastingham is two miles from Hutton-le-Hole, creating a popular circular walk. That picturesque village has a deli/bakery, pub, teashops, craft workshops and the Ryedale Folk Museum. Nearby are the market towns of Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering - all with attractive market squares, independent shops and quaint tea rooms. Malton, Yorkshire’s Food Capital, is only half an hour away, with regular markets and festivals.
The heritage steam railway from Pickering passes through Goathland and Grosmont on its way to Whitby – all great for a stop. English Heritage properties nearby include the castles at Pickering and Helmsley, the superb Rievaulx Abbey and Wheeldale Roman Road. Castle Howard, Eden Camp, the National Centre for Birds of Prey, and the National Trust’s Nunnington Hall are also popular attractions within easy reach.
About 45 minutes away you have the incredible Yorkshire Coastline to discover, with picturesque villages and towns, sandy beaches and hidden coves to explore. Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Scarborough all make for a fabulous day out during your stay. Those travelling from further afield may also want to take the opportunity to visit York.

The fishing village of Staithes, with its quaint harbour and cobbled alleyways to explore, is just 5 minutes drive away, whilst Whitby, a little further, has plenty to do for all the family. This walkers paradise offers miles of public footpaths, the most famous of which is the Brontë Way, taking visitors over the Brontë Bridge and out onto the bleak moorland to Top Withins. Further afield is the Worth Valley Steam Railway, famed for its connection with the film ‘The Railway Children’. The market towns of Skipton, Pateley Bridge, Otley and Ilkley are also within a short drive and a little further afield is the spa town of Harrogate, home to Bettys Café and Tea Rooms.

Set in 38 acres of private farmland with fields that are interspersed with woodland and streams. This peaceful secluded location has a wonderful view across the valley where there is a chance to see an abundance of wildlife including deer, foxes, owls and badgers. The cottage is spacious and benefits from having two bathrooms, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor. Storey Farm Cottage is situated on the edge of Cropton Forest where you will find an abundance of walks and bike trails, as well as lots of wildlife. Dalby Forest is also just a short drive, home to one of the World Cup mountain bike trails. Challenge yourself with exhilarating runs, or for those who just want a leisurely bike ride or walk, there are acres of woodland paths to enjoy. Dalby Forest is also home to ’Go Ape’, a fantastic tree-top adventure activity course with zip wires, high ropes and challenging obstacles.

Rosedale Abbey is just over 3 miles from the cottage, once an industrial village with a thriving mining industry of iron ore, now a very pretty traditional Yorkshire village with a village green, stunning countryside and great cafés. It’s very popular with walkers and cyclists who often stop for their break on the village green and enjoy the local produce. The town of Pickering is a 10-minute drive, and home to the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway. Here you can catch the steam train across the moors from Pickering to Whitby, stopping off at Goathland and Grosmont, both featured in the TV programme ’Heartbeat’.

North Yorkshire is famous for its market towns and you are perfectly based with this cottage to visit them, including Pickering, Malton, Thirsk and Helmsley. These towns boast many independent shops, eateries and farmers’ markets. For those who enjoy the coast, Whitby is around a 30-minute drive away, a resort that is as popular in the winter as it is in the summer. Whitby Abbey is the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s book ’Dracula’ and is perched on the hillside overlooking the town. Beach 18 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

The Flask Holiday Park is peaceful and family friendly with beautiful sea views, a laundrette, a small shop as well as an onsite bar and restaurant.
The holiday park is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. For cyclists the Cinder Trail is nearby and there are plenty of walking routes and coastal paths nearby for walking enthusiasts. The lodge is 5 miles from the centre of Robin Hoods Bay, further along the coast you will find Whitby, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Saltburn to the North and Ravenscar, Scarborough and Filey to the south. For children there is Flamingoland theme park, as well as Alpamare Waterpark and the Sea Life Centre.
One large dog or two small dogs are welcome to join you on your stay, there are lots of fabulous walks as well as dog friendly beaches for them to enjoy, and a lot of the pubs and cafes in this area are dog friendly. Beach 5 miles.
