The Crown and Thistle is a dog friendly, Grade II listed coaching inn, dating back to 1605, in Abingdon. The Inn comprises three individual buildings, which blends the character of some of its original features, such as timber beams and open brickwork, with the comforts of a luxury hotel. The buildings are clustered around a delightful cobbled courtyard framed by 200 year old wisteria. You can dine with your dog in the bar area of the restaurant. The hotel serves a seasonal menu inspired by Mediterrranean flavours. From their open kitchen the hotel serves produce traceable from farm to fork. There is also a wood fired oven or dishes can be cooked to order in their charcoal fuelled Josper grill.

Abingdon has plenty of excellent foot path trails and stunning heritage walks you and your dog will love from 40 minute round walks and longer walks too. Take a lovely stroll from the hotel through Rye Farm Meadows along the River where you will see river wildlife and dogs are allowed to be off the lead or take a walk across the river to Culham Old Bridge which is famous for being seized by the parliamentarians in the Civil War in 1644.
