An imposing 19th-century country home, dog-friendly Forss House Hotel in Caithness is in wonderfully remote location. Set amid 20 acres of wonderful woodland below a waterfall, on a loop on the meandering River Forss. A destination of mind-blowing landscapes, soaring sea cliffs and deserted coastline - during the Spring months you can watch the colonies of puffins that flock to the clifftops. It is also the perfect stopping off point if you are following the North Coast 500 route. There are so many stunning walks for you and your dog on such a diverse terrain as well as fabulous walks around the Estate. The hotel itself offers charming traditional bedrooms and there's a fabulous destination restaurant with a 2 AA rosette restaurant with dogs welcome to dine with you in the bar area. A simply stunning dog-friendly hotel highly recommended.

The ground floor rooms are located in the outer buildings surrounding the main house which offer direct access to the beautiful gardens for your trusty hound to explore. Classic Fishing Lodge Twin/Double

Our two Fishing Lodge bedrooms, newly refurbished and to an exceptional standard, located just a stone's throw away from the main house. On the river's doorstep, these rooms are fitted with comfortable kingsize beds, which can be made into twin beds for family or group stays. You'll be greeted with a spacious lobby area, perfect for storing fishing equipment, wellies or hiking necessities, as well as oodles of bedroom space, both fitted with modern en-suite bathroom, with bath-shower for your convenience.

Kiln House Suite

Spanning over three floors, you’ll be greeted by a spacious living area, perfect for entertaining your party. On the ground floor, there’s two generously sized single rooms, with hanging rails and a dressing table/desk area. With breath-taking views of the waterfall, these rooms offer a true haven of tranquility during your stay. There’s also a family-sized as well as a laundry cupboard with a washing machine, for your convenience. On the top floor, there’s a large bedroom with a king-sized bed, also with beautiful bed-side views of the waterfall. This room is complemented with a spacious en-suite bathroom. This water-side retreat combines contemporary finishings with a rustic-farmhouse style to create the ultimate country-home feel.

Mill House Suite

Our Mill House accommodation is our grandest suite, boasting three stories, three double bedrooms and a wonderful view. With eclectic mill-house features, retro lighting and industrial furnishings, this suite oozes character. The bedrooms in this suite are separated by a large living-room/diner on the first floor, with one bedroom located on the lower ground floor (King-size bed). The following two bedrooms (King-size beds) are located on the top floor with a large family bathroom to compliment. With a kitchenette, boot-room and convenient dressing area/desk area, this suite has been designed to include all the finer details of a homely stay here in Thurso.

Millers Classic

This cottage contains two separate accommodation units to choose, both boasting beautiful views of the waterfall. The ground floor accommodation offers a comfortable king bedroom and a beautiful farmhouse style en-suite, fitted with gorgeous 'His & Her' sinks and a luxury copper roll-top bath tub. Our first floor accommodation features a king bedroom with a beautiful en-suite bathroom (shower only), as well as a spacious living area for relaxed evenings in front of the TV.

Our Cairnmore room has sofas at the end of the bed for complete comfort and convenience. With statement lamps, warm textiles and oversized headboards, these spaces offer an indulgent ‘home away from home’ feel. The Cairnmore’s en-suite features a decadent copper bathtub you won’t want to step out of.

With the high seas and rugged coastline on one side and the inland forests, peatlands and mountains on the other, there is an abundance of walks to enjoy with your furry friend from the doorstep. While you’re out exploring the many nearby villages are very dog-welcoming and great for a bit of exploring with Fido by your side. The hotel is also the perfect place to stay if you are following the North Coast 500 route or if you want to visit the northerly extremes of the UK mainland at Dunnet Head or John O'Groats.
