The Montagu Arms is a 4 star country house hotel renowned for its warm atmosphere and truly dog-friendly welcome. A family-owned hotel with over 200 years of history, The Montagu Arms is a rural retreat in Beaulieu in the heart of the New Forest National Park which makes the perfect getaway for you and your four legged friend. There are plenty of characterful touches including oak panelling, polished, herringbone parquet and the tick of a longcase clock. You can enjoy the Victorian-style Magnolia Lounge or take tea in the conservatory overlooking the garden. The Terrace hotel restaurant, A Modern British dining experience- expect richly comforting dishes using hyper-local ingredients.

There are 15 en-suite dog-friendly bedrooms, furnished in country house style, including one renovated barns with two duplex suites overlooking the garden as well as nine newly designed courtyard rooms. Outside is just as restful. As well as exploring the many trails in the New Forest, the hotel has a delightful Gertrude Jekyll-inspired garden for your dog to explore, which features a fountain, croquet lawn as well as a kitchen garden. And if after a day of adventures with your furry friend you fancy a swim or gym session you can visit the award winning spa at the hotel’s sister hotel Careys Manor. There are also plenty of dog-friendly attractions close by too including the grounds of Palace House at Beaulieu, Exbury Gardens and the dog-friendly village of Buckler’s Hard.

Please note guests have use of Careys Manor leisure facilities from check-in until check-out (located just 6 miles away).

Each room is uniquely designed with natural, calming tones bringing elements of nature indoors. High ceilings evoke a sense of grandeur, alongside plush marble bathrooms with panelled walls, large walk-in drench shower, and freestanding bath. All rooms enjoy views over the courtyard garden and some rooms have a private terrace. a Nespresso machine, complimentary decanter of homemade seasonal gin, air conditioning, Bluetooth radio 52 inch TV , White Company toiletries, Bathrobes and underfloor heating. Please note these rooms can accommodate up to 2 adults + 2 children sharing a double sofa bed. An additional Z bed is also available if the children don't wish to share a bed.

An 1820s barn within the grounds of The Montagu Arms has been sensitively converted into 2 luxury duplex suites. The Hayloft Suites feature interior design inspired by the British countryside combined with beautiful features such as free standing baths and views of our Gertrude Jekyll-inspired gardens. Facilities include a Nespresso machine, Complimentary Decanter of homemade seasonal gin , Air Conditioning, 48 inch TV in the lounge and bedroom, Private terrace with sweeping views of the garden and croquet lawn

Dine with Your Dog

You can enjoy lunch or dinner with your dog at Monty's Inn, the hotel’s onsite country pub. You can also dine with your dog in the lounge, conservatory and garden. Breakfast is served either in the conservatory or in one of the hotel’s private dining spaces when dining with your dog. If you would like to dine in The Terrace Restaurant you are welcome to leave your dog in your room or alternatively dog-sitting can be arranged at an extra cost. Dogs can tuck into the new all homemade À la Bark Menu - choose from a wholesome Chicken Casserole with deliciously nutritious chicken chunks and veggies stewed in a rich chicken broth; a nourishing Doggy Beef Stew.
