Just an hour’s drive from London, dog-friendly Oakley Hall Hotel is a privately owned country house hotel set within 315 acres of gorgeous Hampshire countryside, just a 10 minute drive from Basingstoke. Originally built in 1795, the property was once owned by the Bramston family, who were close friends with the well-known author Jane Austen. Austen frequently mentioned visiting the property  in letters addressed to her sisters. The property was also the previous home of a boarding school, Hillsea College. In 2014, the current owners under-took a multi-million pound restoration project, renovating 47 bedrooms and suites, a three bedroom private cottage, and the award winning Glasshouse Restaurant.

The hotel is super dog-welcoming with treats on reception, a welcome pack in their room and water bowls dotted around the property. As well as lovely woodland walks around the hotel you could also visit nearby Basing House and Beacon Hill.
