The friendly village pubs and tea rooms have food and drinks for all tastes, leave your car behind and take an evening stroll into the village centre. The beach behind the castle is stunning, with many photographers often spotted with the castle as a backdrop it is memory you will treasure forever, visit St. Aidan’s Church and the newly renovated museum dedicated to Grace Darling the local hero and hear and see her story in the museum. Only a short drive and you are in Seahouses, take a trip to the Farne Islands on one of the local boats and see the medieval Pele Tower and Victorian Lighthouse, as well as the famous sea bird colony. Depending on the time of year, you may even spot one of the friendly seals and puffins that visit the islands. Golfers flock to Bamburgh, where the Bamburgh Castle Golf Club offers a particularly picturesque setting. A few miles south bring you to the Historic Market Town of Alnwick, start your trip at the famous Alnwick Castle, one of the largest inhabited castles in the UK and used as Hogwarts when filming scenes for the Harry Potter films, with Harry Potter related events organised here throughout the year as well as guided tours. Berwick upon Tweed is around half an hour north, discover the “walls” of the town, fought over for centuries between the Scots and the English.
