Overview

A small charming family run hotel which is super dog-friendly situated in the Market Place of Middleham near Leyham in Wensleydale and ideally located for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Lovely dog-welcoming atmosphere - the owners have two dogs of their own a cocker spaniel called Bobby and a Border Cross called Bunty. The town itself is a horse racing centre and this is reflected in the design of the hotel and Middleham Castle is also within view of the hotel. Growing up in France, Chef-Patron Charles is passionate about food and hospitality. He worked in some impressive hotels in France, Germany, Italy, Hong Kong and Malaysia as well as the UK, not forgetting Yorkshire, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. His wife, Fiona accompanied him on the journey that brought the family back to her home county, being a Yorkshire Lass! Fiona also worked in hotels and then wine & spirits. Their sons Monty & Hugo, also passionate about food and drink, help out when they can.

Amazing dog walks from the door down to the River Cover or Ure and a chance to meet the owners’ dogs Bobby and Bunty. Pet sitting, dog walking and gourmet pet meals can be arranged.

Bedrooms & Suites

There are delightful dog-friendly bedrooms available in each of the room categories including Cosy Double & Cosy Double Castle view, a Feature room with four poster bed, Superior room with Castle view and Junior Suite. All the rooms are well appointed with 32" flatscreen TV, Egyptian cotton bed sheets, luxury fluffy towels and Temple Spa Toiletries, a British brand with a Mediterranean soul.

The cosy double bedrooms have period features, some overlooking the side of the hotel and the Dales beyond while others overlook the market square at the front of the hotel with views of Middleham Castle. They are furnished with a either a double or king size bed and all have en-suite shower or bathrooms.

All the quiet feature rooms have views over the rear or the side of the hotel towards the Dales. Two rooms feature tubular super king size four posters, one room has a double sleigh bed, and one room has a traditional double four poster. One room has a shower only, the rest have baths with showers over.

Two comfortable junior suites with character king size beds, and a sitting area with a sofa and coffee table within the room. En suite bathrooms with showers over the bath. One room overlooking the market square and Middleham Castle also has a trundle bed available. One quieter room overlooking the rear of the hotel and the Dales beyond has a sofa bed which can be used for an additional adult or two younger children.

Dine with Your Dog

You can dine with your dog in the bar, lounge or on the terrace or you can leave your dog to relax in the bedroom while you dine in the Tack Restaurant. Head chef and owner offers pan European cuisine which includes dishes such as Swiss Roesti, Moules Frites, home cured salmon, beef or pork Wellington and fresh fish.
