High Hurst is criss-crossed with footpaths and bridleways offering a gateway to the local fells, including Dow Crag and the Coniston mountains. Attached to the owners’ home, High Hurst is part of an original 18th-century farmhouse which has smaller outbuildings, including an original Victorian outhouse. It is surrounded by 20 acres of prime grazing land encompassing a quarter of a mile stretch of the River Duddon, this spate river is crossed by a series of ancient stepping stones along its length.
