Crofts is situated in an elevated position on the fringes of the Cairngorms National Park and offers guests a magical experience, from the moment you drive over your private bridge into the grounds you will not be disappointed. There is a steep incline to the property which leads to a large parking area where you can enjoy the views over the glen.
The property provides a good level of comfort throughout. There is an open plan living area with the centrepiece being a roaring fire and the kitchen provides a light and airy feel. There is a well fitted family bathroom with a walk-in shower and a separate bath and an adjoining separate toilet. There is a king size bedroom on the ground floor, whilst on the first floor there are two further bedrooms, one is a zip and link super kingsize and the other has twin beds. There is a great selection of traditional board games and jigsaws for those lazy days in front of the fire. Outside, the gardens are lawned and offer a safe environment for children and the four legged members of the family.
There is a rustic outdoor seating area around a large firepit for an evening of watching the stars and toasting marshmallows under the moonlight. This area is one of natural darkness so for the apprentice astronomers, the location is ideal. There is a large open barn with table tennis and a selection of toys.
There is an abundance of history and wildlife on your doorstep with wild deer, a visiting barn owl and nesting sand martins to name but a few. The location is ideal for exploring the Cairngorms National Park, the famous whisky trail, Royal Deeside, Balmoral and National Trust properties. Glenbuchat and Kildrummy Castles and Gardens are also close by. The surrounding hills have trails for mountain bikers as well as many road-based cycle routes; golfers can also enjoy the courses nearby, where visitors are always welcome. Riding in the area offers spectacular treks, and there are numerous wonderful walks available to take you up the hills of Strathdon, such as Ben Newe or more challenging Mountains over 3000 feet, are close by in the Cairngorms. Fishing is available in the River Don along with the local Mossat Fishery. Cultural events are held throughout the year at our local Glenbuchat Hall.
In late summer, the world-famous Braemar Gathering and Highland Games are worth visiting to see the athletic performances. Bellabeg, 6 miles has a well provisioned Spar market, and the Steading pub at the Lonach provides live entertainment and local beers. Kildrummy Inn provides a restaurant well worth visiting, and taxis are available by arrangement. The pretty market town of Alford nearby has a good selection of shops and eateries. Aberdeen is an hour drive for a wider range of facilities and entertainment. Shop 6 miles, pub and restaurant 7 miles.

A stunning location and wonderful gardens make this a real stand-out property! This lovely fishing lodge, built on the site of the demolished Blackhall Castle, is a real home from home. Its tastefully furnished interior is beautifully complemented by sweeping lawns and mature trees which were once part of the old castle gardens, and being in a superb position just a couple of hundred yards from the River Dee, there are lovely walks along this delightful river. With plentiful wildlife, you may encounter ospreys, otters, red squirrels and pine martens during a relaxing stroll. The seldom used owner accommodation is attached to the house but the gardens and grounds are all available to be enjoyed by guests at any time. A well stocked trout pond nearby is available for fishing by arrangement with the estate overseer.
Banchory, a bustling market town, is just a couple of miles away and has plenty of interesting shops and eateries as well as being the gateway to Royal Deeside. The area, a favourite haunt, first of royalty and ever since of tourists, has many delights to offer and makes an ideal base from which to explore castles, mountains and coastlines, all within an hour’s drive. Watch the salmon leap at the nearby Falls of Feugh, or visit Crathes and Drum Castle, just two of the many on the Castle Trail which winds its way through the area. A spectacular drive over the high pass of Cairn o’Mount will take you to the village of Fettercairn where there is one of the oldest whisky distilleries in Scotland. Slightly further afield is the delightful village of Ballater, Balmoral Castle (open most of the year to visitors) and skiing at the Lecht, only an hour’s drive. Quad biking, cycling, archery, horse riding and golf (two courses in Banchory itself) are all easily available and walking in the beautiful scenery (try Lochnagar and the Lairig Ghru) adds to the many outdoor activities available in abundance in this magical area. This well-furnished, terraced property is situated down a quiet street in the popular coastal town of Banff, just a short walk from the harbour and vibrant marina. There is a good variety of shops, pubs and eating places as well as many historic buildings, which ensures there is plenty to do in the immediate vicinity.
The bright and airy interior has been thoughtfully furnished to provide a good standard of comfort with spacious bedrooms and a cosy living room, which also includes a dining table comfortably seating four. This leads into a well-equipped kitchen, with a full range of implements including a slow cooker and basic store ingredients to help create the family meals which could be enjoyed al fresco in the enclosed rear garden, also ideal for sitting out on sunny afternoons.
Nearby is Duff House, a magnificent example of baroque architecture, and Scotland’s premier country house gallery, housing a rich collection of paintings and other works of art and the well-respected Duff House Royal Golf Course is a challenge for any golfer. There is also another course at Tarlair in nearby Macduff, just a mile around the bay.
There are lovely walks along the River Deveron which feeds into Banff Bay having a lovely sandy, dog friendly beach. Banff itself enjoys spectacular sea views, magnificent sunsets, including the possibility of spotting the Northern Lights between October and March, clean air as well as river and sea angling. There is plenty to occupy the visitor in the surrounding area, from golden sandy beaches (the majority of which are dog friendly) stretching from Banff to Nairn, to the numerous castles and historic monuments which abound. There are cycle routes and pony trekking, and make sure you explore the Castle and Whisky Trails further inland, which wend their way through dramatic scenery.
The lively city of Aberdeen, around 1 hour away, is great for retail therapy, cinemas and theatre. Inverness is around 2 hours away, the gateway to Loch Ness which leads down to Fort William.

Skirted by the beautiful River Don and surrounded by the hills of Bennachie and Coreen, the area is ideal to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Salmon and trout fishing on the river can be arranged with the owner.
Enjoy a day out at Alford Transport Museum, Heritage Museum or Railway Museum, where visitors can enjoy a taste of times gone by on one of the beautifully restored trains. Visit Haughton Country Park, or one of the many magnificent castles in the area such as Castle Fraser, Kildrummy Castle with its impressive gardens, or the fairytale Craigievar Castle. The many footpaths and walks in the area are an excellent way to take in the surrounding countryside and views. Golfers can enjoy some lovely courses nearby, including one in Alford itself. The ski slopes of the Lecht offer seasonal skiing and snowboarding when the conditions permit, and Alford also has a dry ski slope. There is easy access to the famous Whisky Trail. For a more cosmopolitan day out, the vibrant city of Aberdeen is only 25 miles away, with its wealth of shops, cultural attractions and eating places. Beach 27 miles.
