This spacious, detached holiday cottage for two has a pleasant enclosed lawned garden with garden furniture for al fresco dining, and is situated in the village of Betws-Yn-Rhos, just opposite a 16th century inn. Walkers love this area and there are sandy beaches just a few miles away. It makes a great base from which to explore the area, with the Welsh Mountain Zoo at Colwyn Bay, the Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno and historic Conwy with its castle within easy reach, whilst in the other direction the city of Chester makes for a great day out. Ty Capel is nestled in the large grounds of the owner’s property, no need to worry about privacy the cottage is completely detached with a private garden area that houses the Hot Tub.
This popular location of Maenan is in the Conwy Valley situated conveniently between Cowny and Betws Y Coed. Just a few minutes’ drive from the cottage you’ll find the country house Maenan Abbey where you can enjoy a bite to eat. Just further on from here is the market town of Llanrwst where you will find grocery stores, local butchers, a bike hire shop and eateries, or there are some wonderful scenic walks along the riverbank here too.
Betws-y-Coed known as the ‘gateway to the Snowdonia National Park’ is only 9 miles distance, a popular destination for all age groups. A bustling spot with many highly rated eateries to enjoy, friendly pubs, a variety of fabulous shops selling local items, and various outdoor pursuit shops. The golf club is also in central Betws-y-Coed and welcomes visitors.
There are many scenic walks to explore, along rivers and waterfalls, Llyn (lake) Elsi sits above Betws Y Coed and is well worth the hike up. Just down the valley from Betws-y-Coed is the famous Marin Bike Trails, with colour-coded routes suitable for all abilities. Just up the road from here is Llyn Geirionydd (Geirionydd Lake) which is a wonderful spot for a day out where you can take a swim, or use your paddle boards and kayaks, and there are picnic benches available, as well as free parking and toilets here.
Tree Top Adventures is also nearby where you will find six adventures to choose from, some of which are tree hoping, a forest coaster and a Skyride, check out their website and be sure to book to avoid disappointment. Down towards the coast, less than 20 minutes drive is the pretty harbour town of Conwy, a wonderful vibrant town full of history and interesting places to visit such as Conwy Castle, the smallest house in Great Britain, Plas Mawr, along with wine bars and traditional pubs. Walk the castle walls, catch a boat from the harbour for a leisurely trip along the river, why not relive your childhood and go crabbing at the marina? You can follow the picturesque coastal path to Morfa Conwy Bech, a beautiful sandy and dog-friendly beach.

Only 2 miles away is Llyn (lake ) Elsi, and Llyn Geirionydd is less than 6 miles away, here you can use Kayaks and Paddle boards. The Marin bike trails at Gwydir are less than 4 miles away. Take a walk to the picturesque Swallow Falls only 2 miles from the cottage. Just under 3 miles you can find tree top climbing and a Forest coaster ride! With Zip World and Bounce Bellow at Llechwedd Quarry 20 minutes’ drive an epic experience for any age. For the more intrepid adventurer Pen Y Pass route for mount Snowdon is only 10 miles away, with the more popular Llanberis route 16 miles distance.
Further down the coast less than 30 minutes’ drive, is the walled harbour town of Conwy, home to the smallest house in Britain and the imposing UNESCO world heritage site of Conwy Castle. Sunrise Cottage has an upside down set up which gives the first floor far reaching sea views over the Irish Sea over to the Great Orme in Llandudno. The sunsets are quite something special too. The living/dining area on the first floor provides comfortable sofas and a Freeview TV. Also on this floor you have a well-equipped kitchen with electric oven/hob, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave.
