Outside is a sun terrace and on the other side of the quiet country road is a games room with table football and a small table tennis table, off street parking and a small private garden with seating area. The cottage is set in the delightful location of Gerrans Square, opposite the Royal Standard pub and Gerrans Church.
Turnpike Cottage is only a short, 5-minute walk down the hill to the pretty little harbour of Portscatho, where many artists have taken inspiration from the stunning location and superb light in the area. There are a number of delightful little galleries showcasing the work of various Cornish artists. The local public house is nestled in The Square and serves local ales and good pub grub all year round. Rosevine beach is dog friendly throughout the year and is just to the east of the village. It has beautiful golden sands and is over looked by the increasingly famous Hidden Hut. - Portscatho, EnglandThe Bothy (CWC575120) is a semi-detached, listed cottage, nestled alongside the main farmhouse, with two bedrooms it is an ideal size for a small family yet not too big for a couple, the terrace is private and protected, you are bound to have pheasants wandering in front of the living room windows while you are kept cosy by the wood burning stove. At the same time, you can sit in the deep window seats watching yachts and ships pass by on the horizon. Lavender Cottage (CWC575149 was once the estate’s potting shed and is an oasis of calm. The private patio is a suntrap and overlooks the walled garden, the living room has a cosy fire and TV and excellent broadband, the kitchen is bright and airy and has French doors that open onto the patio. Upstairs is a cosy little bedroom and a bathroom. Overall, the cottage has plenty of character and charm; if you are after a romantic break, this is the perfect little cottage in the perfect location. Place Lodge (CWC575150) has traditional tall leaded windows; the living room is bright and airy and oozes character. There is a Victorian fireplace to warm up those chilly winter evenings, a spacious kitchen/dining room with an ornamental kitchen range and farmhouse table. There is also a shower room on the ground floor. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs, a 5’ double, a twin bedroom, and a family bathroom and outside, to the rear, is a sunny sheltered patio.
Place Barton is located high on a ridge on St Anthony Headland and is part of the Place Estate, this is the perfect place to escape from reality there are few better places to enjoy the true beauty of the idyllic Roseland Peninsula. Surrounded by rolling rural landscapes, stunning walks with the best views of St Mawes, Place House, Pendennis Castle, Falmouth and the Carrick Roads. Explore St Anthony Head and the Lighthouse, famously used as the base for the TV series Fraggle Rock and also Molunan Beaches which are right by the lighthouse. As a bonus you can take the car down a private lane to within a couple of hundred yards of the beach, closer if you bring a 4x4, and are confident of its off-roading capability. Portscatho, EnglandOld School House is on the edge of the quiet village of Gerrans adjacent to the village green and has great views over the bay to Nare Head & Gull Rock. The cottage, though recently built, has been traditionally designed with beams, box frame windows and has loads of character including a cosy open fireplace in the sitting room. It is a very comfortable place to stay with the benefit of a great, west facing secure courtyard garden to the rear.
It is just a short walk to the villages of Gerrans and neighbouring Portscatho. Portscatho and its neighbouring village of Gerrans are located on the eastern coast of the Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall, overlooking the dramatic Gerrans Bay. A truly peaceful waterside village, Portscatho is a lovely place for a holiday. In the sleepy village of Bohortha, located high on a ridge on the St Anthony Headland lies the sleepy hamlet of Bohortha. Made up of a cluster of cottages and a farm, this is the perfect place to escape from reality and enjoy the true beauty of the idyllic Roseland Peninsula. Mizpah is located at the end of a row of fishermen’s cottages accessed by a short footpath to the rear of the property from where the road runs out.
This is a traditional Cornish cottage which has been quietly upgraded by its loving owners. It is full of character with a wonderful dining room boasting a lovely old cast iron range with brass fittings and a bread oven, sadly not in use, and a flagstone floor. The cosy fireplace (coal only please) and electric central heating will keep you warm during the wild winter evenings and the lovely garden has plenty of space to enjoy during the summer, perfect for lighting the barbeque and dining al fresco. The fully fitted kitchen includes a lovely limestone floor and is a dream for any budding chef on holiday. On the first floor you will find the three beautifully decorated bedrooms, one double with kingsize bed, one twin room and one room with bunk beds which is ideal for younger children. A family bathroom completes the first floor.
Enjoy glimpses of the sea in distant views from the first floor bedrooms and step out of your door onto stunning walks. Or escape with the kids to the nearby beaches - it is possible to walk to Towan Beach but only takes a few minutes in the car. Mizpah is one of our many dog friendly holiday cottages in Cornwall. Tintagel, EnglandNewhaven is a beautifully presented, dog friendly, bungalow with a terraced garden, and a large deck and is ideal for a family with young children, the twin bedroom is pirate themed and there are a wealth of novel garden ornaments including a lobster pot and "smugglers den," a child’s playhouse. The dining conservatory creates an al fresco ambience of dining under the stars but remains cosy with underfloor heating, and winter evenings will be toasty warm in the dual aspect kitchen/living room with the lovely slate fireplace surrounding the wood burner.
Trebarwith Strand Beach is close by and at low tide a large expanse of golden sand is exposed, with plenty of rock pools and a number of caves, just be careful to always check the tide times. Tintagel is well worth a visit, cross the new suspension bridge to Tintagel Castle and Island where medieval fortifications combine a history of the dark ages with the legend of King Arthur to produce a wonderful day out with many different eateries and pubs to sample as a bonus. The coast path stretches along some of the most rugged cliffs in the southwest, where majestic promontories overlook secluded beaches with golden sands and crashing Atlantic surf. A quick drive will also take you to Boscastle, site of the infamous floods in 2004, or the traditional fishing village of Port Isaac where lovely narrow lanes lead to the charming harbour and beach that Port Isaac is so famous for.
