A 20-minute drive brings you to the popular village of Bamburgh a stunningly attractive small village set on the northern stretch of the Northumberland Coast. It is without doubt dominated by its magnificently striking castle that can be seen for miles around. Why not hit the waves yourself with a trip to the Farne Islands? Take a boat trip from Seahouses and see the Medieval Pele Tower and Victorian Lighthouse, as well as the famous seabird colony. Depending on the time of year, you might catch a glimpse of the friendly seals and puffins that visit the islands’ shores. Golfers flock to Bamburgh, where the Bamburgh Castle Golf Club offers a particularly picturesque round. It’s short but tough and boasts some of the best views in the country! Awel Wen is a large, detached bungalow in the village of Penuwch in Tregaron, perfect for those with larger families or groups of friends wanting to explore this fabulous area. Awel wen comprises ground floor accommodation with a large living room with a Smart TV and DVD player, an electric fire and a double sofa bed. There is an open plan kitchen/dining room with gas hob double electric oven and dishwasher and there is also a Rayburn in the kitchen. The local pub is within walking distance and serves food but there is also a fabulous restaurant in the village, booking is recommended. There are plenty of walks and bike routes from the property, the Sarn Helen old Roman road is a couple of miles east of the village and there are several trails and rights of way zig zagging across the landscape.
The pretty harbour town of Aberaeron is 8 miles away where you’ll see boats bob about on the water of the picturesque harbour, which was constructed in 1807. There is an array of pubs, restaurants and cafés to suit all tastes and budgets, and a good variety of independent shops, many of which sell local produce and chic seaside gifts. The town is awash with festivals and unique events throughout the summer. Aberaeron takes on a more sedate air in the winter months, but you will find everything open for business and the pubs less crowded! Take a delightful stroll from the town along the leafy pedestrian track to Llanerchaeron, an elegant Georgian villa set in the wooded Aeron Valley. Remarkably unaltered for over 200 years, this self-sufficient estate includes a farm, walled gardens and a lake, and is now run by the National Trust. Beach 8 miles. Pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Just under 3 miles away is Porthor beach known for its whistling sands; the sound is created due to the unique texture and size of the sand particles. There are only two beaches in the whole of Europe where you can experience this for yourselves, and you’ll have one just down the road. The Llŷn Peninsula is an unspoilt, designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with miles of coastal and mountain walks to explore. There is wildlife in abundance, pods of dolphins, seals, and birdlife to spot. You’ll be truly captivated by a visit in this region.

You can all explore the arboretum to find the unusual Whitty Pear and you can of course refuel at their on-site café if you forget to pack the picnic. The young at heart can even ‘Go Ape’ on the treeline assault course for some high adrenaline fun. In addition to this there is variety of walking, cycling, running and horse trails available, there’s plenty of ways to explore the forest. No one must be left out when visiting the forest either, even those who have reduced mobility can join in all the fun as a ‘tramper scooter’ can be hired. Pampered pooches will be glad to know that the forest has even got a dog wash on-site to keep them pampered after a muddy day of exploring.

Also on this level is a bedroom with a super kingsize bed which can be twin beds on request for maximum flexibility.
