Corton lies just north of Lowestoft, the most easterly point of the UK. Beachwood is set amongst a secluded woodland setting and has frontline sea views. It is also considered to be the one with the most private, quiet and secluded settings. The photographs of the interiors speak for themselves. The kitchen is well equipped according to our many extremely satisfied guests to date. Tea coffee and milk is provided so guests don’t arrive late and find they can’t make a hot drink. The huge decking stretches to the cliff edge with views onto the award-winning beach. Stunning sunrises each morning which, should you so wish, can be watched while you relax in the hot tub! At night it lights up via a button. String lights have now been installed which are on a timer, which creates a wonderful evening ambience. The beach is never busy which makes for relaxing walks in both summer and winter and is accessed via a lovely short walk through the woods. It is also a dog friendly beach year-round. There are no shops or plastic swings and slides at Ocean Glade. It is very peaceful, and the grounds are beautifully maintained. There is a pub a 10-minute walk into the centre of the village which serves food, plus a small shop which also sells newspapers and a Chinese takeaway that only takes cash. There is a shopping complex a few minutes’ drive away with plenty of free parking.
Beachwood is ideally located to explore both Suffolk and Norfolk. Visit the Norfolk Broads National Park, with its southern gateway, Oulton Broad, just a short drive away, with good restaurants and a wine bar. Lowestoft is an old-fashioned traditional town offering shopping, beaches, two piers with family entertainment and restaurants. The popular town of Southwold is about a 35-minute drive away. There is so much to do and see in the area and you would be advised to google your preferences for details etc. Far too much to write here!

From the main living area throw open the French doors and enjoy the enclosed, dog friendly garden. A wood-fired hot tub for two sits to one side; just perfect for a spot of star gazing on an evening. Garden furniture is perfectly placed to enjoy an early morning coffee watching the sun rise or for an al fresco evening meal.
The golden sandy beach at Barmston is just a mile away and the local village put is a great place to meet the locals. Bridlington, Filey and Hornsea are along the coast. All three offer a plethora of tea rooms, restaurants and convenience stores. With promenades, arcades and a working harbour there is plenty to do. The stately homes of Sledmere House, Burton Agnes Hall and Sewerby Hall are waiting to be explored. Enjoy a day watching the wildlife spectacle at RSPB Bempton Cliffs or enjoy the tranquility of the Spurn Point Nature Reserve. The Flamborough Heritage Coastline and Yorkshire Wolds offer miles of walking and cycling opportunities. There is even a choice of golf course should you fancy a quick round! Offering extensive views across the countryside over the downs to Newport, the island’s capital, this attractive holiday barn has been thoughtfully converted. There is access to Newport and Arreton via bridle paths and the rest of the Isle of Wight should you wish to walk or cycle it, while buses into Newport and Ryde (the two main bus stations) are about 5 minutes away to take you anywhere you want to go on the Island. Discover many attractions nearby including Arreton Barns, The Garlic Farm and Robin Hill Adventure Park. Also within easy driving distance are Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, museums, vineyards and wildlife centres. Centrally located on the Isle of Wight, Fair Isle House is a great base to explore the famous Needles, Alum Bay and Black Gang Chine, which are all within a short drive away. Nearby are the attractions of Robin Hill Adventure Park and Gardens and Arreton Barns, the Isle of Wight’s hub for artisans and craftspeople, as well as Brading Down, a local nature reserve with outstanding natural beauty. An idyllic, rural location, there is an ancient woodland at the back of the farm in which to take walks. A flourishing habitat for wildlife, you are extremely likely to see foxes, birds and owls during your stay. Red squirrels have been known to frequently join you for breakfast. Wildlife cameras are available for children to experience the wildlife around them during the day or night. They can be placed in the grounds to capture the hidden wildlife. You will also see a variety of wild flowers, including wild daffodils, primroses, violets and bluebells.
The properties are surrounded by countryside, yet are within easy reach of beaches and attractions. The main town of Newport is only 3 miles away, whilst Ryde, with its pleasant beaches, is 5 miles. Wootton is 1 mile away, with a good selection of pubs en-route to Wootton Bridge. There are also a couple of shops, a fish and chip shop, chemist and a Post Office. The location is a paradise for walkers, country lovers, bird watchers and cyclists. There are local forests in which to enjoy walks and horse riding, and for cyclists, there is a choice of challenging off road bridleways, peaceful byways and level, purpose-made tracks running along former railway lines.
There are numerous attractions to discover for all ages. The Needles landmark attraction is a must see, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Visit Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens, or Blackgang Chine, which is the oldest themed attraction in the UK. Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle or the world-renowned sailing town of Cowes are also worth a visit. Beach 5 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Caernarfon Castle, an imposing UNESCO World Heritage site, is under 8 miles and where Prince Charles took his investiture. Venture just a little further and you have Pwllheli, Criccieth and Porthmadog, home to the Welsh Highland Railway. Individual shops, stunning architecture, imposing castle and riverside location make this a must spend day or two during your holiday. The WWT Wetland Centre, Swanbourne Lake and South Downs National Park with its pretty villages and fabulous hiking opportunities are all within 5 minutes. Numerous stately homes and gardens are dotted around the area. Goodwood with its world famous motor circuit and horse racing venue is a 20 minute easy drive. The pretty grass runway airport here offers the chance to take an airborne sightseeing experience offering memorable views of the coastline including Portsmouth Dockyards, Gunwharf Quays and the Spinnaker Tower that by road are a 40 minute drive. Lunch or tea airside in this stunning location is also possible. Dogs are welcomed everywhere at Goodwood. Two championship golf courses are on the estate and spa experiences available at the hotel. Tours and afternoon tea are available also here at the stately home. Chichester with its cathedral and Festival Theatre are a short drive, Brighton being 18 miles distant. Dog friendly beaches abound with quite a collection very nearby, a favourite being West Beach at Climping where there is the lovely Baliffscourt for a special dining treat.

Enjoy a wonderful coastal location, just a 10-minute walk from the long sandy beach and the village, having two pubs both serving good food, a fish and chip shop and ice cream parlour. The Coastal Path for excellent walking is on the doorstep. Visit the traditional seaside resorts of Cromer 12 miles, and Sheringham 19 miles for fun at the seaside. Wroxham, 12 miles, known as the capital of the Norfolk Broads National Park where you can hire a day launch or join a cruise and watch the world drift by and enjoy local wildlife. In fact, you are close to the heart of the broads so boats are readily available. Bacton Woods is close by with miles of woodland trails to explore. Ieal for cycling, picnic opportunities and great for dog walking. Bird watching, golf and fishing all available locally. If you can tear yourself away from the beach you will find a string of other coastal habitats to explore including marshes, sand dunes and pretty quays. Head west to Cromer and discover the unspoilt Edwardian seafront, promenade, pier and Amazonia Zoo. Venture a little further to Blakeney and take a boat trip to see the seals (seasonal) or enjoy a spot of crabbing on the quay. Head east and you’ll discover Great Yarmouth’s Golden Mile with all the fun of the fair and just a little further is Pleasurewood Hills, Norfolk’s only theme park. Enjoy a ride on the Bure Valley Railway from Wroxham and travel through the pretty Norfolk countryside to the bustling market town of Aylsham for a spot of shopping or lunch. With other attractions such as the tranquil Hickling Broad, Bewilderwood, Dinosaur Park at Lenwade, North Norfolk Railway and the medieval city of Norwich all within easy reach you really will be spoilt for choice. After a busy day you can return to The Shanty and relax in the outside seating and dining area with barbecue and uninterupted country side views and sunsets.
