Rosary House is a spacious stone farmhouse which was built in 1750 and is located in the quaint village of Irton, 4 miles from the glorious golden Cayton Bay, with the larger coastal destinations of Scarborough and Filey also within a 15-minute drive. This period property offers a unique and cosy stay with an exceptionally large enclosed garden and ample parking. Ideal for large families and groups of friends, especially for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries.
The house sleeps up to eight people comfortably with a kingsize bed, double bed, small double and two single beds. There is a main upstairs bathroom with a bath and a newly fitted downstairs shower room. Each room is well presented with gorgeous original features, such as exposed stone walls and beamed ceilings adding to its charm. The kitchen is well equipped with an Aga, as well as an electric cooker. The owner’s aim is to make this a home from home, and you will find all the facilities and equipment you would expect to find at your own house here too. In summer the beautiful extensive gardens, equipped with a hot tub and gas BBQ can be enjoyed by all. In winter you can cosy up by the two wood burners in either of the sitting rooms, equipped with Smart TVs. There is also an electric double garage available but please request this at the time of booking the key fob can be left for you. There are mountain bikes for guests to enjoy in the end stable but please respect them as if they were your own.
There is something for everyone to enjoy during your stay at Rosary House, with Scarborough only a short 10-minute drive away where you can spend the day at the beach, or check out the impressive views of the coast from Scarborough Castle. You can dine out at one of the many local village pubs in Irton, and the award-winning fish and chip shop which are only a short walk away. If you would like to venture a little further, Whitby is only a 40-minute drive, or you can experience an old-fashioned steam train ride from Pickering to Whitby. Families can enjoy a day out at the Sea Life Centre in Scarborough or Flamingo Land, near Pickering, only 30 minutes away. You can hop on the train to the historical city of York for a day trip and The North York Moors are right on your doorstep for great walking routes. Please note that the small double bedroom is accessed through the double bedroom.

The delightful port town of Bideford has a good selection of town amenities, restaurants and a weekly market. Boat trips are available to Lundy Island from various departure points including Ilfracombe and Clovelly. The historic fishing port and village of Appledore is worth a visit. Garden lovers will enjoy nearby RHS Rosemoor and Docton Mill. This is a superb holiday choice whatever the time of year. The beach at Westward Ho! is just 4 miles; renowned for its beauty, it has 2 miles of sandy beach known as the Golden Bay, and is popular with surfers. Coastal and country walking, golf, surfing, fishing, horse riding, cycling are all on offer close by, and for family fun, The Big Sheep and Milky Way adventure parks are not to be missed. The beautiful sandy cove Porth Dafarch is a mile away and just beyond a fine selection of pubs, shops and restaurants in Trearddur Bay.
The bustling port of Holyhead, for day trips to Ireland, is a short drive. Golf, fishing, sailing, pony trekking and the Snowdonia National Park are all easily accessible, as are Conwy, Caernarfon and Beaumaris castles. The barn is situated in the grounds of a small farm, and is an ideal holiday base close to the mountains of Snowdonia. Tan Rallt Barn has plenty of space for eight people and can accommodate climbing and walking groups coming into the Snowdonia National Park. It’s a great location for outdoor enthusiasts being close to the Ogwen Valley and Zip World - the longest zipwire in the northern hemisphere, and just a short drive from Llanberis and Snowdon, with its famous mountain railway. You’ll find Penrhyn Castle (NT) just down the road, whilst Caernarfon, with its impressive castle, the Isle of Anglesey with 125 miles of coastline, Capel Curig and Betws-y-Coed are all close by. The GreenWood Forest Park at Y Felinheli, Yr Hwylfan (The Fun Centre) at Caernarfon and Electric Mountain at Llanberis are all well worth a visit. Shop 0.5 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles. Located within the grounds of a peaceful caravan site in the delightful village of Newchurch which has a renowned pub and the famous Garlic Farm slightly further. It is ideal for families wishing to enjoy the numerous sight seeing attractions that this popular island offers, and there are also super walks locally. The seaside resort of Sandown, with its long golden stretch of sandy beach, pier and promenade is about a five minute drive, with various entertainment including trampolines, fun-rides, putting, crazy golf, leisure centre with indoor pool, the zoo (where Tiger Isle was filmed), slides, and many cafes, bars, restaurants and pubs. Also within easy driving distance are National Trust homes and gardens and the English Heritage Property; Osborne House, where Queen Victoria used to reside, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Mottistone Manor. Other places of interest are The Needles, Blackgang Chine, Donkey Sanctuary, Rosemary’s vineyard, Havenstreet steam train, Shanklin Chine, Dinosaur Isle and Tapnell Farm Park. The Coach House and Coachman’s Cottage are two stunning luxury properties located on a private estate in Sandwich Bay, Kent. The normal admission charge for visitors will be waived for all guests staying here, so you can enjoy the rural beach for as long as you wish. Surrounded by beautiful countryside these properties are adjacent to the owner’s home, on a working farm, which makes them a perfect countryside retreat. Next door is the Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory which can be used to spot many species of birds throughout the year. Sandwich Bay boasts a beautiful beach which is within walking distance. Fishing is also available locally. The nearby quiet medieval town of Sandwich has a delightful range of local shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs. The railway station in Sandwich offers a high speed service into London, plus the opportunity to visit France from either Dover or Folkestone with the Eurostar or ferry. An iconic feature of the town is Barmouth Bridge, over 150-year-old railway viaduct across the Mawddach Estuary. It is half a mile in length with a wooden promenade suitable for pedestrians or cyclists which now forms part of the Wales Coast Path and the Lon Las Cymru Cycle Network. Nantcol waterfalls are just 5 miles away and offer a great day out, a perfect place for a family picnic whilst playing in the stream. The property is serviced by a private well. Therefore, we would ask that you are mindful of this during the hot summer months. The owner lives next door so can be on hand if required.
The cottage’s location is fantastic for exploring both the quaint and scenic countryside as well as the fantastic beaches on the coast, with the nearest shop being just a short walk away in the hamlet of Tregaswith, and lots of pubs and eateries to choose from in St. Columb Major down the road.
Set off on a surfing expedition to Newquay’s nearby world famous Fistral Beach or Watergate Bay known for enjoying incredible waves all year round, with surf schools here to teach beginners all they need to know!
Choose from several beaches along this stretch of coast, including Mawgan Porth Beach, Great Western Beach, Lusty Glaze Beach, Towan Beach and Crantock Beach, all of which are dog friendly all year round, so you’re sure to find a spacious spot for your group!
