Head upstairs where there are a further two well-presented bedrooms, comprising of a king size bedroom with another en-suite walk-in shower room, and a triple bedroom, each promising a delightful space to wake up to each morning. Upstairs is the main family bathroom with a modern bath and overhead rain shower. Head outside to the garden with outstanding uninterrupted views over the Cheviot Hills, a truly idyllic sun trap. Head into Chatton: a gorgeous country village nestled in the pretty Northumbrian Valley, bordered by the Cheviots. The local hotel and restaurant serving excellent food, a well-stocked village store and Chatton art gallery compliment the quaint village atmosphere. Keen walkers are sure to be impressed by St Cuthberts Way, a 100-kilometre long-distance trail between the Scottish Borders town of Melrose and Lindisfarne off the coast of Northumberland, named after a 7th-century saint. The nearby town of Wooler is set along the last leg of the journey, so you needn’t traverse the full length. Wooler itself is just under 4 miles away and features a good range of shops, pubs, restaurants, and facilities. If you fancy something exciting, why not visit Chillingham Castle, only a short drive away, and book onto one of their ghost tours! Why not try something a little different? Discover your inner country-self and try clay pigeon shooting at Fowberry Moor Farm in Wooler, where they also offer wine tasting!
A 20-minute drive brings you to the popular village of Bamburgh a stunningly attractive small village set on the northern stretch of the Northumberland Coast. It is without doubt dominated by its magnificently striking castle that can be seen for miles around. Why not hit the waves yourself with a trip to the Farne Islands? Take a boat trip from Seahouses and see the Medieval Pele Tower and Victorian Lighthouse, as well as the famous seabird colony. Depending on the time of year, you might catch a glimpse of the friendly seals and puffins that visit the islands’ shores. Golfers flock to Bamburgh, where the Bamburgh Castle Golf Club offers a particularly picturesque round. It’s short but tough and boasts some of the best views in the country! Haybale Barn is an ideal base for exploring the moors and coastline in this diverse friendly county where you will be sure of a really warm Northumbrian welcome. Beach 9¾ miles.

Take a walk around the village where you will find a small but well stocked village shop with a post office, a friendly community pub and a children’s playground which are only a 7-minute walk away. There are no direct bus routes in or out of the village, however, Newport (approximately 11 minutes’ drive away) and Market Drayton (approximately 11 minutes’ drive away) offer supermarkets, independent shops, cafés, bars, and restaurants to suit all tastes along with the weekly country market, monthly farmers’ market, canal walks and swimming pools/leisure centres, you have the ideal places to discover on your holiday.
Ironbridge, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, (approximately 32 minutes’ drive away), has plenty to see and do for all the family. Shrewsbury (approximately 30 minutes’ drive away), where ’A Christmas Carol’ was filmed on location, is full of finds to be discovered by foot or by boat. The River Severn is a must, as is the café culture, the castle and the churches that dominate Shrewsbury’s famous skyline. For the more adventurous travel seekers there are various walks and outdoor activities in Shropshire including Hawkstone Follies, an unforgettable day out for all the family with hidden caves, gullies, secret passages and much more.

The Black Bull is on the prettiest and most historic street in Appleby, a stunning 17th century grade II listed building in the historic market town. Once being the hotel to the neighbouring public house, it has served the local town and guests for centuries. You are instantly transported back in time once you are surrounded by many original features such as the exposed beams, flagged floors and doorways.
The local area is also steeped in history, just a few hundred yards from the front door at the top of Burougate is Appleby Castle, a 12th century keep, and in the opposite direction is St Lawrences Church on the banks of the River Eden, with elements dating back to the 12th century.
The property lies within the stunning Eden Valley with many quaint villages. Appleby is close to the course of a 268-mile National Trail, which passes by on its way from Middleton-in-Teesdale to nearby Dufton. With High Cup Nick and Dufton Pike on the trail and just a short drive away you have some amazing walks and adventures, while the Lake District National Park is less than 30 minutes away in car. You can take a trip on a lake cruiser or enjoy the epic scenery only found in the Lake District National Park.

Turnerdale Hall is a Gothic-style country manor house, and guests can enjoy full access to the east wing of the property and its beautiful grounds. With many of its period features still intact and lovingly restored, you will love exploring the house and will even get to enjoy seeing the steam train pass below the bedroom window, or you can sit out on the patio area to enjoy the views over the River Esk.
The house has an impressive entrance doorway with a coat of arms above the door, and double doors into a vestibule which leads to a large reception hall. Leading from the hall is the main drawing room, which is very large and perfect for family gatherings. It has three large comfortable sofas, a TV with Freesat, a DVD player and a bay window with a window seat, giving uninterrupted views up the River Esk and over the weir. French doors lead from the drawing room to the garden. On the lower ground floor, the well-equipped kitchen can be accessed from either the entrance hallway or via the garden. Off the kitchen is a second reception room with three sofas, a Freesat TV with a DVD player as well as board games and books, making this a great place for relaxing in or for children to play in. The first floor has a good-size master bedroom with fabulous views over the garden and across the valley, as well as a twin bedroom and a bedroom with a large single bed. On the second floor is a double bedroom boasting superb views across the valley, and further twin bedroom.
Outside there are beautiful, established lawned gardens with shrubs and trees. A raised decked area is the perfect place to sit and enjoy al fresco dining or simply sip pre-dinner drinks whilst admiring glorious views over the River Esk.
Set in a picturesque village close to the coast, you will have plenty to do, including boating on the river or exploring the cobbled stone streets and shops in nearby Whitby. The location is great with an easy road network to explore the wealth of delights that both the Norfolk and Suffolk counties have to offer. Both have wonderful coastlines with plenty of lovely sandy beaches to explore. Southwold is a traditional seaside town with a pier, lighthouse and glorious promenade of colourful beach huts, plus delicious fish and chips and home to the world famous Adnams brewery.

Many RSPB reserves and SSSI sites can be found wrapped around the Norfolk and Suffolk Heritage Coastline. The Norfolk Broads National Park offers waterside fun, daily boat hire, river trips and plenty of waterside cafés and restaurants. The Medieval city of Norwich has its castle museum, cathedral, two indoor shopping malls, outdoor market square, galleries and plenty of restaurants nearby. The popular market towns of Harleston, Diss, Wymondham, Bungay, Becclés, Needham Market and Bury St Edmunds offer an array of shops and plenty of amenities to enjoy. A lovely family holiday home with five bedrooms and two bathrooms just a stroll from the sandy beach and promenade, as well as the centre of this traditional seaside village. With plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy, including a large sundeck offering you private outdoor space to enjoy which is also a sun trap. A covered area to one side is perfect for al fresco dining and also for some shade if needed.
The sandy beach and promenade is just 100 yards away where you can walk along the prom past all the brightly coloured beach huts from Mablethorpe to Sandilands, with miles of unspoilt beaches perfect for strolling along. You can often spot seals both in the sea and later in the summer as they head to and from the breeding grounds at Donna Nook, and if you are lucky they are occasionally seen on the beach basking in the sun.
Sutton on Sea has something for all the family with a paddling pool, restaurants, two chip shops, cafés and pubs, one of which is on the promenade where you can enjoy refreshments and a meal overlooking the beach. The main bus route runs close by and you can travel to the larger seaside resorts of Mablethorpe and Skegness, as well as family days out at Butlin’s or Fantasy Island.
