This holiday cottage is spacious, yet intimate, and commands beautiful views of the countryside surrounding the peaceful village of Sheldon, only 3 miles from the market town of Bakewell. The oldest part of the cottage dates from 1800 and has been converted skilfully into a living room with tasteful furnishings, original beams, exposed stone walls and a large fireplace with a multi-fuel burner. There is a large dining area adjacent to the living room and a kitchen which leads into a south-facing conservatory, ideal for breakfast and relaxing. There is a downstairs toilet and utility area. Upstairs has three large double bedrooms (two with en-suite showers) and a bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a 6ft zip and link bed which can be used as a double bed or two single beds. The cottage has Sky TV and wi-fi internet access. Only a few steps from the main cottage is a games room and studio apartment. The large, heated games room has a pool table and table tennis table as well as a drying room for wet clothes and boots. Above the games room is the studio with sitting room and a double bedroom with en-suite. The sitting room has a sofa bed (for alternative sleeping only) and a TV. The cottage stands in an enclosed garden which has driveway parking for four vehicles, flower beds and two lawns. The larger lawn overlooks the nearby fields and hills, and is ideal for ball games. It adjoins a stone-flagged patio area with a built-in barbecue and outside table and chairs. Sheldon has a pub close to the cottage which is friendly and provides good food. The village is within easy reach of Bakewell and Ashford-on-the-Water, and is an excellent starting point for walking, exploring the countryside and visiting Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, The Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath, the caves around Castleton and many other attractions in the Peak District. The cottage is situated on the edge of the unspoilt Peak District village of Monyash, just 4 miles from Bakewell; the delightful market town at the heart of the Peak District. During your stay be sure to add a meander around the picturesque village of Monyash and an afternoon exploring the shops and eateries in Bakewell to your agenda. Whilst this isn’t a coastal destination, you may think twice if you stumble across Matlock Bath, with its seaside-like row of amusement arcades and fish and chip shops. Also close by is the Heights of Abraham, sure to make for a great day out if you like caverns and cable cars that is - there’s something for everyone here and the scenery is not to be missed. Not forgetting about the sheer beauty of your surroundings; walking and cycling in this area proves to be popular and there are lots of unique country pubs around to finish your adventure with a reward. Bee Keepers Cottage is located on a working farm on the edge of Derbyshire’s Peak District, the cottage overlooks the 18 hole golf course at Shirland Golf and country club where visitors day passes are available.

The cottage has beautiful rural views and offers guests the peace and quiet of rural living yet within easy access of local attractions and transport networks, and there is a golf course boarding the property’s grounds and miles of footpath networks adjacent to the farm.

The accommodation at Bee Keepers cottage is spaced over a single storey and offers light, bright accommodation with beautiful gardens and views of the rolling Derbyshire countryside.

Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall and Crich tramway museum are a short drive away. Local towns include Matlock, Bakewell and Chesterfield. Derby and Nottinghamshire are a 20-minute drive.

The location is popular with walkers who enjoy the beautiful walks and trails straight from the doorstep.

All accommodation is on the ground floor. The Large modern kitchen/dining area to seat 6 and opens out onto the living area with Smart TV. The kitchen has an electric eye level oven, built in microwave, induction hob, fridge/ freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.

Two bedrooms have king size beds, and the third a single bed, and there is a family bathroom with bath and shower above – there is also an additional shower room with quadrant shower cubicle, toilet and basin.

Outside there are two seating areas, a BBQ, gardens and plenty of off-road parking.

Guests are welcome to visit the horses in the barn next to the property (prior arrangement with the owner), please supervise children for their safety.

For outdoor enthusiasts, walks can be taken direct from the door, with a network of footpaths crossing the owner’s land, or for those wanting a peaceful break you can cosy up in front of the wood burning stove, taking in the remarkable scenery through the French windows.
Curbar is a popular and sought after village with a collection of sunken Peak District millstones in the centre, and has a pub, café and art gallery making it a wonderful base for walks, climbing and mountain biking. Baslow and its triple-arched river bridge is a large village, offering a range of village amenities including a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, even a Michelin star one too!
Nearby is historic Chatsworth House, with its opulent interiors and extensive gardens and parkland. The popular market town of Bakewell can be reached in just 10 minutes, and the towns of Matlock and Buxton are around half an hour away. The pretty Hope Valley villages and their range of attractions such as Hathersage, 10 minutes, with its open air swimming pool and the ever popular honeypot villages of Castleton and Edale, home to the start of the Pennine Way are all easily accessible. Sheffield and Chesterfield can both be reached in around half an hour and the UK’s premier theme park, Alton Towers, is around an hour away.

Pyegreave Cottage is full of character, being a converted 300-year-old stable it has a unique layout and stunning views downs Combs Valley and Combs Moss.
On the ground floor of the cottage is the fully equipped kitchen where you can whip up a nice breakfast before you head out for the day, there is a breakfast bar with two stools with window that gives views down the valley. The shower room is located on the ground floor with shower cubicle and heated towel rail. Upstairs you will step into the living room, with stunning high ceilings and original beams, this room is nice and light with comfortable seating, Smart TV and electric wood-effect fire, there is a dining table with four chairs as well as two single sofa beds for additional sleeping. The bedroom is located on the first floor also and has a kingsize bed which can be made up as two singles if required. Outside the property there is parking for up to two cars, and a back garden with bistro set and a fire pit so you can watch the sun set, it is the perfect peaceful spot to enjoy a drink and the end of the day or a coffee in the morning whilst planning your exciting day ahead over breakfast.
Pyegreave Cottage sits on the hillside on the outskirts of Combs village, located close to Buxton, Castleton and Edale, which are all fantastic walking routes to explore. The stables formed part of one of the old barns on Pyegreave Farm, which in 1840 was purchased at a local auction by Florence Nightingales Father who lived in the village a considerable amount of time. One of the most popular attractions in Combs is the reservoir, it is surrounded by beautiful scenery and offers opportunities for walking, fishing and birdwatching, the area is also popular for cyclists who enjoy the challenging hills. There is a local pub in the village which serves delicious home cooked food and real local ales. Here at Water Bailiffs Lodge you have the best of both worlds: wonderful walks in the surrounding open Derbyshire countryside, and for days out, you are within close proximity to all the major tourist attractions the Derbyshire Dales have to offer. Certainly an idyllic rural retreat, yet the historic spa town of Matlock is only a mile away with its award-winning park where band concerts can be enjoyed on a Sunday summer afternoon, and where an annual Christmas Victorian market held is in December. Matlock Bath, named the little Switzerland of England, is just a couple of miles away and the famous illuminations are held here each year in September. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

You’ll be in a perfect location to explore Derbyshires Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty but taking the car to Ashbourne for some cultural sightseeing won’t take you too long either.
After you’re done with all that fresh air, this home-from-home will welcome you into its cosy and relaxed embrace, consisting of a beautiful balance between the old and the new. With a large garden, dining outdoors will become a comfortable routine in the summer, but you might be able to get a few nice days in the colder months as well. This cottage is great at bringing everyone together in the dining area or by the wood burner. Nearby Ashbourne is the perfect example of an English market town, boasting an eccentric street plan, narrow, cobbled alleys, old market stalls and many fine coaching inns. In its heyday, during the 18th century, the town was a fashionable, social centre, and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer with a good selection of restaurants, whilst being regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters, but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by offering good walking and cycling, whilst Alton Towers is just 25 minutes away!
