To offer guests maximum comfort the four bedrooms comprise three with kingsize beds and one with single bunk beds. Bedding is of high quality with 5* hotel style duvets and 180 thread count sheets for a relaxing night’s sleep. Two of the bedrooms offer direct access out to the garden and patio area. The open plan living/dining room is very spacious and benefits from vaulted ceilings. In the living area, with industrial style décor, the large double height window and patio door offers unique views and access into the garden. With the benefit of a wood burner, whether it be day or night, summer or winter, everyone can come together and enjoy quality time. The dining area has table seating for eight guests. To the rear of the bungalow the large conservatory has underfloor heating, deep-filled, comfy sofas and a 42" Smart TV which provides an additional space for relaxation. This room enjoys views over th garden, hot tub and countryside beyond.
Tamarisk offers a well-attended garden with mature borders and lawned area. A large patio also leads down from the open plan living area and there is also an undercover dining area where you can enjoy an early morning breakfast or an alfresco evening meal no matter what the weather! The hot tub sits to one side and is raised slightly to provide you with far reaching views, just perfect for a relaxing soak after a day exploring the local area.
A gentle stroll will bring you to the local village pub where you can mix with the locals whilst enjoying a relaxing drink. A little further afield is the historic walled City of York which offers over two thousand years of history and the cathedral town of Selby. The stunning East Riding coastline is also just under an hour’s drive away. Tamarisk is the perfect holiday home for your family gathering and will be perfect no matter what the time of year.

Carr House farmhouse is set on a working farm, but only minutes away from the attractions of Scarborough and only 1½ miles from the well known surfing beach at Cayton Bay, which also welcomes dog walkers throughout the year. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the large landscaped gardens with a summerhouse, apple trees and barbecue, with a perimeter fence making it ideal for both children and pets. This detached farmhouse is ideal for touring the North Yorkshire coast, from Whitby in the north to Bridlington in the south. A short journey inland takes you to the North York Moors, ’Heartbeat’ Country and Pickering for the steam railway, whilst York for its historic attractions is less than an hour away.

For activities nearby there is Dalby Forest for cycling and tree climbing, Wykeham Lakes for fishing, or the many beaches which offer the chance to just relax, sail, surf, sunbathe, paddle, and build sandcastles. If peace and tranquillity is what you are after then look no further. The Dairy is situated in Beck Hole, one of Yorkshire’s best kept secrets. The semi-detached cottage has had a newly fitted kitchen in 2022 and sits within the grounds of the owner’s home just a short walk from one of the smallest pubs in the UK, known for its traditional ales and warm friendly welcome. Beck Hole is located deep in the valley with the holiday cottage overlooking the village just a short stroll from the local pub. Stunning valleys and sweeping hillside views can be enjoyed from the idyllic location of the cottage. You could almost be anywhere in the world, close your eyes and listen to the silence interrupted only by bird song. Cycle tracks, bridle paths and walkways abound from the doorstep with quaint little villages popping up when you least expect it.
It is just 1 mile from the well-known village of Goathland best known for its connections with Heartbeat, indeed Hill Farm in which The Dairy sits was used for many of the film shoots. The village green is lined with quaint curio shops, inns and tea rooms serving some of Yorkshire’s finest cuisine. You can board the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Train here and take a memorable journey through the glorious Esk Valley as it steams its way across the valleys into the historic market town of Pickering. The ancient sea port of Whitby is just a short drive over the moors, eight miles, a colourful harbour leads to the three mile stretch of sandy beach overlooked and almost protected by the ancient abbey ruins and St Mary’s church. The brave (and fit) can take the 199 steps up to the abbey ruins where panoramic views over Whitby across to Sandsend can be enjoyed. Explore the smugglers coves of Robin Hoods Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes or visit the more elegant seaside resort of Scarborough, Britain’s first ever seaside resort. Garden Cottage is located in the Yorkshire Wolds on the edge of the Settrington Estate, just 4 miles from the historic market town of Malton and centrally located for the tourist attractions of Scarborough, Filey, York and Helmsley. Formerly a tied cottage attached to Settrington Estate, the alterations and interior design of this detached property offer guests superb quality and boutique-style accommodation. Driftwood is situated in a peaceful residential area, with a tree-lined green between the picturesque rows of Victorian town houses. Stepping into the house and through the hallway, you are greeted by a large and welcoming open plan living and dining area.
Two steps lead up to glass double doors which lead you out to a beautifully presented courtyard with ample seating. Fairy lights illuminate this area in the evening, creating a delightful space. Back inside on the ground floor there is also a well-equipped kitchen and utility area with a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and everything else you would expect for a comfortable stay. Heading upstairs, there is a toilet on the landing before you reach the incredible master bedroom on the first floor. This generously sized room boasts wall to wall wardrobes, a kingsize bed and a modern spacious en-suite shower room complete with a dressing table.
Further up on the second landing is another contemporary bathroom with a shower over the bath. A few steps lead to the first twin bedroom and a double bedroom. This has a separate office area, ideal for anyone who wishes to use their computer while on holiday. Stairs to the top floor lead to a further twin bedroom under the eaves with Velux windows. There is also a shower room and a games room which is sure to delight younger family members with its game console, toys and games. Plenty of take-away outlets, restaurants, bars, pubs and shops are within a short stroll of the house, offering a fantastic range of eating options. You can walk to the town centre, the beach, Scarborough Castle or Peasholm Park within ten minutes. A 5-minute walk across North Marine Road provides breath-taking views of the North Bay and Scarborough Castle, with benches where you can rest for a while. You may catch a glimpse of the pods of dolphins that are regular visitors to the coastline.
A meandering path takes you down to the beach in less than 10 minutes. Once on the seafront over three miles of flat promenade provide the perfect opportunity to walk and explore all areas of the Victorian resort. Either head south below the hilltop castle towards the South Bay, Scarborough Spa and the Italian Gardens, or go north past rows of colourful beach huts towards the Sealife Centre and Scalby Mills. Buses operate continually along this route. Peasholm Park offers wooded walks, refreshments and a lake where boats and pedalos can be hired. The gently shelving, wide sandy beaches at Scarborough have won several awards for cleanliness and there are ample opportunities for surfing and paddle-boarding as well as boat trips for all the family.
The resorts of Filey, Flamborough Head and Bridlington are further south, whilst to the north, Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby, Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes are all very popular for day trips. The RSPB bird sanctuary is just along the coast at Bempton Cliffs where thousands of puffins, guillemots, and gannets perch along the rocks. There are viewing points from which to spot all the different breeds of seabirds that arrive every year, as well as the seals that sunbathe on the rocks below. Within an hour you can be in the medieval, walled city of York with its majestic minster standing proudly in the centre of the city. The narrow-cobbled streets, city walls, individual shops and fantastic museums make it an enjoyable day for all age groups. Take a trip on an open top tourist bus or river boat and learn about the history of the famous city. York can also be reached by train direct from Scarborough, so why not leave the car at home? All in all, this town house is a great base to visit the east coast of Yorkshire, and a great size for the whole family.
