Set in a small hamlet, these carefully converted holiday cottages form a courtyard development where every care has been taken with the design, internal furnishings and their impact on the environment. Bell’s Barn (prop ref 25899) stands detached from the other cottages and is suitable for wheelchair users. There is also enclosed paddock where your dogs can run free! Just a short walk from Crakehall, claimed to be one of the prettiest villages in the Dales, with a large village green overlooked by an imposing manor house where cricket and quoits teams often play. Nearby, the historic town of Bedale, 2½ miles, offers a weekly market every Tuesday and various events during the year, together with a range of individual shops, restaurants and pubs. Masham, renowned for the Black Sheep Brewery, is 10 minutes’ drive and Richmond with its Norman castle, Georgian architecture and thriving theatre is also easily accessible. Historic York and its many attractions is within easy driving distance. Alternatively, just enjoy the wonderful Yorkshire countryside either by car, bicycle or on foot. Shop and pub ¾ mile. Nestling in the stunning Esk Valley, these holiday properties have been lovingly converted from 200 year old farm buildings and are situated just across the courtyard from the owners’ farmhouse which dates from the 12th century. Converted from a former granary, The Granary (ref W41008) occupies the first floor of a detached barn conversion, with views towards Castleton Rigg. Stylish and delightfully furnished, retaining many original features with a vaulted ceiling, low beams and solid oak floors. The Carthouse (ref W41503) is spacious and occupies the ground floor of the detached barn conversion, whilst The Byre (ref W7733) is an attractive single storey, detached property with a multi-fuel stove in the living room, and offers wonderful views over the dale. They are all tastefully furnished and decorated and offer excellent holiday accommodation. Ideally situated in the beautiful North York Moors National Park, a scenic drive along the country roads takes you to the historic port of Whitby. The area abounds with smugglers coves and quaint fishing villages untouched by the passing years. An excellent base for exploring the surrounding area, with the Yorkshire coast and Heartbeat country both easily accessible. Walking is available direct from the door, with fishing and riding nearby. Castleton is 1 mile away with all amenities including supermarket, bank and post office. A magical part of the world at any time of the year. Carr House farmhouse is set on a working farm, but only minutes away from the attractions of Scarborough and only 1½ miles from the well known surfing beach at Cayton Bay, which also welcomes dog walkers throughout the year. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the large landscaped gardens with a summerhouse, apple trees and barbecue, with a perimeter fence making it ideal for both children and pets. This detached farmhouse is ideal for touring the North Yorkshire coast, from Whitby in the north to Bridlington in the south. A short journey inland takes you to the North York Moors, ’Heartbeat’ Country and Pickering for the steam railway, whilst York for its historic attractions is less than an hour away.

For activities nearby there is Dalby Forest for cycling and tree climbing, Wykeham Lakes for fishing, or the many beaches which offer the chance to just relax, sail, surf, sunbathe, paddle, and build sandcastles. Scarborough is a vibrant seaside resort with lots of family attractions, such as the waterpark, Sealife Centre and crazy golf, as well as a funfair, ice-cream parlours, amusements, and donkey rides. It also boasts superb live entertainment at the Open Air Theatre, with major acts booked each summer, and shows at the Scarborough Spa and the renowned Stephen Joseph Theatre. Beach 2 miles. Nestling in the hamlet of Speeton just a few miles from the seaside town of Filey, yet bordering open countryside, this stunning chapel conversion retains many original features such as beautiful stained glass windows, high solid wood ceilings, wall panelling and solid wood floors. Spectacular cliff top walks afford breathaking views of the rugged yet beautiful East Yorkshire coastline. Scarborough and Bridlington are nearby, and the RSPB Bird Sanctuary with kittiwakes, guillemots, puffins and gannets, just 3 miles. York, just under an hour away by car, is worth a visit. Here guests can walk the city walls, visit the railway museum, the minster and shambles with its designer boutique shops. For those who enjoy the countryside, the North York Moors and Wolds are not too far away. The Cleveland Way and Wolds Way walks are a few minutes away. The views over the surrounding countryside are superb, and there is excellent walking from the doorstep. Long distance footpaths along this area’s Heritage Coastline, and the Cleveland Way, offer perfect terrain for walkers and cyclists. The Ryedale Folk Museum at popular Hutton-Le-Hole, and the ruins of Rosedale Abbey are both worth a visit. For a day out, the North York Moors Railway runs steam train journeys between Grosmont and Pickering. Whitby, is easily reached, with miles of sandy beaches and an ancient abbey overlooking its harbour. Scarborough, and the coastal villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay and Sandsend are all within 20 miles. Horse racing at Thirsk, Wetherby and York, 25 miles. For a relaxing day out venture further into the Yorkshire Dales to the picturesque villages of Grassington, 12 miles, and Kettlewell, 5 miles further, calling at Kilnsey Trout Farm on the way and a stop off to watch the climbers hang off Kilnsey Crag. Many walks and cycle routes for all abilities can be found here and all around the area. Country pubs serving local produce are within easy reach should you wish to dine out during your stay, with the closest just 500 yards away and easily reached via a stroll through the estate grounds. Top Lodge provides a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life but will come alive when filled with your family and friends, yet is within very easy reach of the main town of Skipton and surrounding attractions, what more could you want. Surrounded by 10 acres of meadowland in the grounds of Ovington Grange, this charming detached cottage offers superb accommodation, and there is stabling and equestrian facilities for riders and carriage drivers by arrangement with the owner. This single-storey accommodation has level access throughout with wide doorways meaning it is easily accessible and will appeal to all ages. It has a spacious open-plan kitchen/dining room with gloss units and a full range of appliances, including a coffee machine, dishwasher and TV to cater for your every need. The living room is spacious with comfortable sofas set around an electric wood burner. Two patio doors open out onto the enclosed south-facing patio... a perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee taking in the views beyond.

The accommodation extends to two large bedrooms. The first has a kingsize bed and quality bedding - promising a good night’s sleep! It also has an en-suite bathroom with corner shower. Bedroom two offers two single beds which can zip and link to make a super kingsize bed on request, as well as windows at both aspects of the room bringing in the surrounding views. Bedroom two has a TV for your entertainment. A separate bathroom is provided with bath with overhead electric shower.

To the side of the cottage is a lovely enclosed courtyard garden with furniture, ideal for al fresco dining with a glass of wine in the evening. There is the added benefit of a private driveway and space for two cars, with extended parking available on request. Being animal lovers, the owners, who live on-site, are happy to accept up to two well behaved dogs. There is also stabling available on site by private arrangement.

A short walk from the cottage, brings you to the charming hamlet of Ovington and a lovely traditional pub serving home-cooked food and local ales. With so many opportunities to explore whether by car or on foot, the stunning North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Yorkshire Dales National Park are both within easy reach. A short drive away is the market town of Barnard Castle with its bustling high street full of quaint shops, pubs and cafés, as well as the impressive Bowes Museum. Alternatively, the historic Yorkshire market town of Richmond is great for strolling along the cobbled streets and castle walls. A visit to the beautiful city of York is not to be missed with stunning architecture as well as the incredible York Minster dominating the skyline. Shop 4 miles, pub ¾ miles and restaurant 1¾ miles.

Rose Cottage is a superb single-storey property. Sleeping four guests, it is dog friendly and has excellent accessible facilities including ramp access and a large wet room with a double shower. It also boasts a four-seater hot tub on the decking. The bright and airy open plan living area with vaulted ceiling, and state-of-the-art kitchen will be the heart of this holiday home. It provides a mixture of twin and kingsize accommodation, a built-in sound system, electric Velux windows and every mod con you could wish for and really does deliver when it comes to guest comfort.
Strensall is located on the River Foss with a wide range of facilities including three pubs, a choice of grocery shops, post office, takeaway and a fish and chip shop. On the doorstep is York Golf Club and Strensall Common, a huge conservation area maintained by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and which is popular with birdwatchers.
Regular buses run from the village to the centre of the ancient walled city of York, 7 miles away. Steeped in history and brimming with attractions, York appeals to all ages. Visit the magnificent minster, the Jorvik Viking Centre and the Railway Museum, browse the art galleries and stroll along the cobbled streets and city walls. There are numerous restaurants, tea shops and an abundance of inns serving real ale. Enjoy a day at the races, take a river boat trip or watch the talented street entertainers.
The surrounding area has much to offer too, with stately homes at Castle Howard and Beningbrough Hall, quaint market towns at Easingwold and Helmsley, and a short drive leads to the beautiful North York Moors where the famous steam train departs from Pickering and transports visitors through stunning scenery to the fishing port of Whitby.
