Cherry Garth Cottages are located in the centre of Thornton le Dale, ’Yorkshire’s little gem’. Cherry Blossom has been named after the cherry trees which border the garden. The cottage has been built from beautiful traditional Yorkshire stone, and is tucked away in the grounds of the owner’s home Cherry Garth. It has an open plan living area with a welcoming wood burner to snuggle up in front of after a busy day out exploring the spectacular Yorkshire coast and countryside, and upon arrival you will be welcomed with a lovely welcome pack with tea, coffee and biscuits. There are lovely views from the property onto the garden and the bedroom window overlooks the paddock, where sheep graze.

The picturesque village of Thornton le Dale is located on the edge of the North York Moors, a mere one mile from Pickering. From here you can take a ride on the famous steam train to Grosmont, Goathland (aka Aidensfield in the classic TV series Heartbeat) and the seaside town of Whitby where you can climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey. Those looking for a quieter pace of life may prefer to walk the many footpaths and bridleways over the North York Moors.

Easily accessible is Dalby Forest with its 9 mile scenic drive and an award-winning visitor centre. The North York Moors Steam Railway offers a step back in time and a leisurely way to enjoy the scenery. Departing from Pickering
(10 miles) it passes through Goathland and Grosmont on its way to Whitby, with its stunning coastline and ancient abbey. On the doorstep is Castle Howard, home to ‘Brideshead Revisited’ and ITV’s ‘Victoria’, Byland and Rievaulx Abbey, Helmsley Castle and the National Bird of Prey Centre. For those wishing for a little more history and culture the historic city of York is only a 40-minute drive away and a little further afield is the North Yorkshire coast and seaside towns of Whitby, Scarborough, and Bridlington. Owl Cottage is a lovely semi-detached barn conversion and is one of five holiday cottages set around a central courtyard at Holtby Grange, just outside the small village of Holtby and only 5 miles from York city centre. Hidden down a long private drive and surrounded by open countryside with far-reaching views, this one bedroomed property offers a very high level of guest comfort and luxurious extras for a couple. The entrance to the property is from the main courtyard which has beautifully trimmed boxed hedges and a koi carp pond. With shared seating, this area offers a real sense of peace and tranquillity.
