Originally two working cottages, Ashdene is now one large property which has been extended to provide modern accommodation with a private indoor heated swimming pool in a separate building, a hot tub for four, a large private, enclosed garden with lots of facilities for entertaining guests of all ages from the children’s’ play area to a very well-equipped, purpose built games room. There is so much on offer in and around the surrounding area of Ashdene including Roves Farm, a great place for children and adults alike, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Burford, Longleat House and Safari Park, Cotswolds Wildlife Park and Oasis Leisure Centre. If it’s shopping you’re after, you’re very close to the Swindon designer shopping outlet. These lovely, semi-detached barn conversions are situated just outside of the medieval cathedral city of Salisbury, and close to the iconic prehistoric stone circle of Stonehenge, which stands on the grassland of Salisbury Plain. This is a great base for families or groups wanting to explore this part of the country, as there is so much to see and do. It is only 30 minutes to the coast with the lovely sandy beaches of Bournemouth, or there are plenty of sites and National Trust areas with beautiful walks and lovely bike rides in the New Forest, you will be spoilt for choice.
The Old Stables are situated within their own grounds and form part of a collection of four newly, and stylishly converted barns. The walks that surround them are widely renowned to be some of the best in the area and include Bentley walks with its famous Bluebell display, Hound Wood, and Blackmoor Copse with its many deer that roam and nature ponds.
The Old Stables 1 (ref UK32045) is mainly on one level, with just one bedroom on the first floor with a vaulted ceiling and traditional oak A-frame beams, all other rooms are on the ground level, with open plan living, dining and kitchen. With York stone flooring throughout and terracotta tile in the kitchen area to create a comfortable rustic feel. There is a vaulted ceiling and beautiful oak beams.
The Old Stables 2 (ref UK35616) is set over two floors consisting of an open plan living, dining, and kitchen areas on the ground floor and two bedrooms and a shower room on the first floor.
The Old Stables 3 (ref UK35690) offers wonderful open plan living/kitchen/dining room along with two stunning bedrooms and a splendid bathroom. Fully renovated in 2023, Granary sleeps up to six guests in three bedrooms. This detached property is modern throughout and offers the perfect base for exploring the area. On the first floor are two bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed, the other with twin beds, and also a family bathroom. On the ground floor you will find the open plan living area with wood burner and kitchen, which is well equipped with brand new appliances. There is also a spacious double bedroom and shower room off the main hall. Enjoy a cosy evening in front of the wood burner, sit back, put on the Sky TV and relax after a busy day of exploring.
Outside to the front of the property is a small garden with a seating area and barbecue, perfect for enjoying the evening sunshine. Dogs are welcome and are to be kept on a lead outdoors. The garden is not enclosed, however there is a large green to the front of drive and peaceful walks on the doorstep.

The centre of the historic market town of Devizes is just 3 miles away with its array of shops, eateries, amenities and the famous flight of 29 canal locks. The village pub which serves good home cooked food, is a five-minute walk away, with an excellent array of other options within half an hour’s drive. The village also has an excellent farm shop.
The Granary makes the perfect base for families or couples wanting to discover what Wiltshire has to offer. There are lots to do locally including plenty of walks and many places of interest to visit. Bath, with its world-famous Roman baths and relaxing spa (19 miles), Salisbury (25 miles), Stonehenge, with its visitors’ centre (16 miles), Marlborough (17 miles), and Silbury Hill and Avebury (both 12 miles), are all within easy reach. The picturesque villages of Castle Combe and Lacock, both frequently used as film and TV locations including Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, are within 20 miles. Nearby attractions include Longleat House and Safari Park (22 miles), Bowood House and Gardens with its fabulous adventure playground and spa (8 miles) and other National Trust and English Heritage properties. There are several good golf courses nearby including Bowood and North Wilts.

The 4500-acre Savernake Forest, Cheddar Gorge, Stonehenge, Longleat House and Safari Park, Stourhead Gardens, the historic city of Winchester and the Roman spa and Georgian streets of the city of Bath are all within an hour’s drive.

Avebury is 5 miles away, as is the centre of Marlborough with its range of great restaurants and pubs, along with a variety of high quality and independent shops offering a unique blend of modern attractions and facilities. The high street is one of the widest in the UK and offers a twice-weekly market on a Wednesday and Saturday. The M4 is within easy reach, Hungerford is 12½ miles east and there is a regular train service from Pewsey to Paddington in just 65 minutes; a car is essential when visiting Mortimer Cottage, which is the perfect base from which to explore all that Wiltshire and The Cotswolds have to offer.
