With walks and cycling from the door, you feel like you are in the countryside yet only a three-minute drive from the centre of this pretty little market town. Rothbury has plenty of pubs, cafés, restaurants, and a few independent shops, as well as an award-winning butcher, riverside and play park for the children. Parking in Rothbury is free and available in most of the small town.

The Simonside Hills are ideal for the serious walkers, or a gentle stroll along the River Coquet is perfect for those wanting a more relaxing holiday. The pretty village of Warkworth is only a few miles away, with its scenic riverside walks, castle ruins and charming little tea rooms. A little further afield is the friendly port of Amble, which boasts some good amenities and a lovely Sunday morning market. If you prefer sleep-ins, fish and chips on the harbour can be just the ticket after exploring the port town.
