Campbeltown is one of a handful of areas in Scotland categorised as a whisky producing region, and is home to the Campbeltown Single Malt, once proclaiming itself the whisky capital of the world with. The area now boasts three whisky distilleries and a gin distillery as well as a cinema, museum, heritage centre and a working harbour, with an acclaimed music festival in August.
