Bring your bucket and spade as the glorious sandy beach at Morfa Dyffryn is just a mile down the road and offers superb views over to the Rhinog Mountains. For the more adventurous, Zip World and Bounce Below at Blaenau Ffestiniog are a thrill seekers delight, whilst the famous Ffestiniog Railway and mighty Harlech Castle are also well worth a visit. Barmouth is situated on the Mawddach Estuary and boasts lovely sandy beaches making this ideal for relaxing walks along the coast, cycling along the Mawddach Trail or discovering many sights and attractions. Castles can be found all over the area at Bala, Caenarfon and Harlech. If you like to get out in the fresh air, this is great walking country, why not tackle the peak of Cadair Idris? You can visit Harlech with its impressive landmark Edward I castle (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) which towers over the town, or explore the seaside town of Barmouth – and why not hire a bike to explore the Mawddach Trail which runs over Barmouth Bridge and along the route of the old railway line along the estuary to Dolgellau? Wonderfully private - there are no other pods here - this pod is set in its own private, spacious garden. A wonderful spot for a romantic break away to experience something a little out of the ordinary. Criccieth centre is a short walk from the cottage where you’ll find various cafés, restaurants and bars to sit and watch the world go by, along with independent shops to peruse. The pebble beach with promenade and breath-taking views is a must for strolling along. For the more adventurous an array of water sport activities can also be enjoyed from here.
The Llŷn Peninsula is an unspoilt, designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with miles of coastal and mountain walks to explore. There is wildlife in abundance, pods of dolphins, seals and birdlife to spot. Nearby Pwllheli has plenty of shops to browse around, eateries and a large beach with miles of sweeping sands. This area has miles of unspoilt coastal paths to explore, look out for the grey seal colonies that are established around the coastline, alongside a wealth of sea birds. Caernarfon Castle, an imposing UNESCO World Heritage site, is under 8 miles and where Prince Charles took his investiture. Venture just a little further and you have Pwllheli, Criccieth and Porthmadog, home to the Welsh Highland Railway.
