The Alpaca Lodge offers premium accommodation for couples and families. Situated on a small holding, you will find Alpacas, Mediterranean donkeys, hens and horses. The native red squirrels often make an appearance, roe deer and even the badgers at night-time.
From here you can enjoy direct views to the Alpacas, these curious creatures provide endless entertainment, they are playful, cute, and intriguing. The owners offer meet and greet with the animals and Alpaca Walking, which can be pre-booked.
Local facilities include Ennerdale Brewery, with its real ale tap room and restaurant, and a pub which serves good pub food, both just ¼ mile down the road, and a good shop is 2½ miles away. At the end of the drive is a footpath leading into the Marron Leys Woodlands. This is a lovely mix of managed woodland and open grassy areas, ideal for a short stroll, plus your dogs will love it. The lodge is in the village of Rowrah, on the fringe of The Lake District National Park between Cockermouth and Ennerdale. Within 2 miles is the National Park with its abundance of walks, cycle routes, wildlife, mountains, and lakes.
The property offers easy access to explore the Western Lake District and coast, and you have a couple of pubs and restaurants nearby. The nearest lake is Ennerdale Water, about 4 miles away. Widely regarded as one of the most unspoilt areas of The Lake District National Park, Ennerdale is teeming with wildlife, including indigenous red squirrels, ospreys, and buzzards. Loweswater is less than 6 miles away, leading on to Crummock Water and Buttermere. The scenery around this unspoilt part of The Lakes is stunning, and the beauty, colours and unforgettable panoramic views are magnificent.
Whether you want an easy stroll, a challenging walk, or a serious climb, this makes a great base from which to start your adventures. For outdoor lovers, you can easily access Ennerdale, one of the most unspoilt and wild parts of the Lake District, here you can tick off many of the 214 Wainwright fells, so it’s a great base for fell walking.Rowrah is home to a very popular go karting track, ¾ mile away, which is one of the best in the UK if you want an adrenaline boost. There is also good access to several coastal towns including Whitehaven, 7 miles, with good restaurants, a popular harbour and good shopping.
St Bees Head Heritage Coast is within 10 miles, offering excellent coastal walks and sandy beaches, whilst the lively market town of Cockermouth, 9 miles, has an abundance of speciality shops, coffee houses, restaurants, and attractions. Visit Wordsworth House for a spot of culture, or maybe Jennings Brewery beneath the castle walls offering tasting tours.

Yewtree House is an impressive Holiday home of considerable size and will comfortably accommodate up to 16 guests, with a large dining table. It is ideal for a large family gathering or groups of walkers seeking to enjoy the splendour of the Eastern Lakes. The house is easily accessible, only 5 minutes drive from the M6 in the village of Tirril, and lies only 3 miles from Ullswater and Pooley Bridge and 3 miles from Penrith. The pub in Tirril is within easy walking distance and provides a restaurant and small shop. Bar meals are served throughout the day. A mile away in Yanwath is another pub restaurant renowned for its cuisine.
Tirril Lodge sits in spacious grounds with views over open countryside to both the front and rear. Activities available locally include pony trekking at Sockbridge and a variety of water sports on Ullswater, including sailing instruction, as well as some of the best fell walking in the Lake District. The house is ideally situated for exploring both the northern and southern lakes and fells. Situated just 2½ miles from the beautiful scenery of Ullswater, you can enjoy a trip around the lake on a steamer and visit the impressive waterfall at Aira Force. A spectacular journey along the shores of Ullswater and over the Kirkstone Pass takes you to Lake Windermere. At the head of Derwentwater and 15 miles from Sockbridge, lies the town of Keswick with its lovely parks and selection of coffee, gift and outdoor shops.

Barn on the Wall sits on the iconic Hadrian’s Wall, a World Heritage Site, and the highest remaining piece of Hadrian’s Wall is only a short walk from Barn on the Wall. Enjoy a day exploring the area on foot. Whilst at Barn on the Wall take a walk down to Lanercost Priory where you can wander round the Priory then enjoy lunch or just a well-earned cup of tea in the tea rooms. Banks is a small Hamlet only 4 miles or so from the lovely market town of Brampton with its array of lovely little shops, restaurants, takeaways and tea rooms. A great day out for all the family is a visit to Talkin Tarn Country Park, just 2 miles from Brampton, with its 65-acre lake where you can sail, windsurf, canoe, or hire a rowing boat or even just sit all day fishing. Set amid 120 acres of farmland and woodland you can hire mountain bikes with the cycle routes taking you through beautiful countryside.
Take a drive out in the car and within 20 minutes you’ll be in the beautiful border city of Carlisle, with its array of high street shopping. Within 30 minutes you could be over the border into Scotland or in the Lake District National Park.

Cleugh Foot is only a few miles from the border over into Scotland where you can discover miles of stunning sandy beaches along the Solway Coast. Set in a quiet, rural location, this barn conversion, adjacent to the owner’s home and set on a working beef farm, provides spacious holiday accommodation. It is full of character and charm, with original beams and exposed stonework throughout. Well-equipped, it is always warm and cosy, and has been tastefully furnished in a homely, cottage style, and also boasts a garden that looks out over lovely views. The property is set at the end of a private lane, yet Carlisle and Hadrian’s Wall are only a short drive away. The Coach House sits privately in the grounds of Morland Hall, near Penrith in the Eden Valley. Enter the grounds through the automatic gates and follow the road up to the grand Morland Hall on your left and there is woodland to your right. When you enter this wonderful property there is a wide hallway with multiple doors to the spacious living/dining area with high ceilings, large TV and wood burning stove. There is a second lounge that comes off the kitchen with a large Smart TV and Sky. It has a multi fuel stove and the seating incorporates a double sofa bed for extra guests or the kids and an ensuite with bath and walk in shower. Leading up the stairs there is a mezzanine bedroom with a king size bed. Walk through to the games room where many an evening will be enjoyed challenging each other on one of the games consoles or board games. The kitchen area is fully equipped to create sumptuous feasts or snacks and spend quality time for your family and friends. There are four main bedrooms on the first floor: three with super kingsize beds, one with a kingsize bed, and each room has a different theme and a private en-suite bath, shower, and toilet facilities.
The outside space offers a few different areas. The patio area that traps the sun all day has seating and a large, wood-fired hot tub. The large garden offers a second patio area, has a large lawn area and a wood chipped play area, ideal for kids, with a sunken trampoline and play items, this area has multiple seating arrangements, plus a large BBQ. A fabulous place to spend time with your friends and family there is something for everyone!
Morland is positioned in the Eden Valley and just over 10 miles to the north and south Lake District to enjoy days out hiking, ferry cruises or shopping. Alternatively, you can stay closer to home and enjoy the Eden Valley that consists of lots of small villages with locally run pubs and cafés and excellent walking and cycling routes from the front door.
