Broome Farm, once a small arable farm, nestles in the heart of the Shropshire Hills in an AONB. Set on a 120-acre, family-run working farm, these two lovely cottages (Goose Cottage ref UKC2676 and Barn Cottage ref UKC2682), offer comfortable and welcoming accommodation. Located just ¾ mile from Widemouth Bay, one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline in north Cornwall, there is something here to suit guests of all ages. You could even book both of the properties together for extended family or friends.
The larger cottage, Goose Cottage is a charming barn conversion and boast lovely views of the surrounding rural landscape. With spacious open plan living space, it is ideal for enjoyable gatherings of families or friends. Barn Cottage offers a first floor living room, complete with doors which open onto a small decked balcony where guests can admire the magnificent views across rolling fields and out to the sea. Both properties enjoy shared access to the range of facilities found on-site, including a tennis court and a children’s outdoor play area with slides, swings and a climbing wall. Why not take a dip in the heated outdoor swimming pool, or challenge friends and family to the variety of games found in the small indoor games barn including table tennis, air hockey and a small pool table. A communal utility room with washing machines and a tumble dryer is available for both properties. Friendly chickens, ducks and geese roam the courtyard, and the tame peacock may pay you a visit to your door. There is a woodland walk to the rear, and a 20-minute walk on a footpath across the fields to the front will take you across sheep grazed meadows to Widemouth Bay.
Widemouth Bay is an extremely popular holiday destination and is world famous for surfing. It has far reaching, exceptional sandy beaches, and provides miles of coastal paths for enthusiastic walkers. The well loved tourist town of Bude is just 3 miles further up the coast. The town offers an indoor swimming pool, shops, restaurants, horse riding, a golf course and tenpin bowling. For the keen walker there are many opportunities both along the south west coastal path route, which runs the entire coastline of Cornwall and offers stunning cliff walks, and on nearby Bodmin Moor. Lamellen Lodge is a charming Victorian Gate Lodge at the entrance to Lamellen Estate and the private drive up to the main house. With excellent access to the A39 all of the delights of the north Cornwall coast are within easy reach, the golden sandy beaches are plentiful from Trebarwith Strand to Newquay and you are thoroughly spoilt for choice. The quaint fishing village of Port Isaac is 10 minutes away and is famed for being an artist’s retreat and a film location for the likes of Doc Martin and Poldark. Padstow, and Rock, on the opposite bank of the Camel Estuary, are both well worth a visit and there are a plethora of restaurants to suit all tastes from Michelin starred fine dining to cosy Cornish pubs with great home cooked food. Recently renovated this stunning barn conversion has been tastefully decorated and equipped and is spacious, bright and welcoming, yet the underfloor heating will insure this property remains ideal for a winter break. There are a wealth of things to do on the farm to keep youngsters entertained including plethora of farm animals, a communal swimming pool which is heated and will be open for use between May half term and mid September, a tennis court, games room and play area.
This comfortable, dog friendly, holiday home is a 15-minute walk from Widemouth Bay which is a fantastic beach and has a vast expanse of golden sands at low tide and many rock pools to explore. The surf is often outstanding, the sun hits the beach for most of the day and the sunsets over the sea are simply magical. 3 miles to the north is Bude, a vibrant, bustling little tourist town with a wealth of restaurants and amenities.
For walkers and cyclists the area is full of superb routes and Bude lies at the centre of the most dramatic stretch of the south west coastal footpath. There are numerous local villages and landmarks to explore and much of the area is a nature lovers paradise. Bude is only a couple of minutes down the road and has the full range of facilities that one would expect of a small town including a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurant.
Bude is possibly more diverse than any other holiday destination in Cornwall. Most major villages, towns and attractions are within an hour’s drive; and because Bude sits on the county border, visitors can explore the delights of both Devon and Cornwall at their leisure. Look past the eight main beaches and many smaller hidden coves and you will soon see there really is something for everyone. In the centre of Bude there is a huge, sandy beach which is a favourite with children and adults alike,there are a host of pubs, cafés and restaurants to suit every palate. There is a new Visitors Centre in the Crescent car park, a large children’s play area, a 19th century canal and a small wharf amongst many other attractions. Further down the coast are Polzeath with its surfing beach, and Rock where you can take a ferry across to Padstow with its array of interesting shops, pubs and restaurants, including Rick Stein’s famous restaurant. Manor Court Cottages are set in the picturesque village of Shipton Gorge. Within walking distance, 110 yards, are the village playing fields and pub selling the famous Palmers Ales and local food. This a fantastic location to explore the Dorset countryside and World Heritage Jurassic coastline, 1½ miles away. Whether its a family holiday, walking, bird watching, fishing, cycling or for a quiet break Manor Court Cottages are ideal. The pretty village of Burton Bradstock, 1½ miles, has a beach with a café, shop, post office, garage and pubs. The market town of Bridport, 2 miles away, has a lively and vibrant street market Saturdays and Wednesday, along with small shops, cafés, antiques and local food can be found, or pop into the museum and learn its history of rope and net making.
The picturesque harbour of West Bay is 2 miles away and was made famous by the TV drama ’Broadchurch’, while the village of Abbotsbury, 3 miles away, is popular for its swannery, sub-tropical gardens and childrens farm. Spread along the coast from Sidmouth is a host of attractions, including the Donkey Sanctuary and Beer Caves at Seaton and Axminster where you can ride on the trams or eat at the River Cottage restaurant. Into Dorset try fishing in a boat out of the cobb at Lymm Regis, fossil hunting at the museum or a walk up Golden Cap for the breathtaking views. Weymouth with its sandy beaches and Sealife Centre is well worth a visit, discover the dinosaurs at the Dorchester museum or travel back in time with a visit to Thomas Hardy’s cottage, go to war at the Bevington Tank Museum, or say ’hi’ to the monkeys at Monkey World. Enjoy a dip at Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door for a sightseeing walk, explore Crofe Castle, and then all aboard the steam train at Swanage. Shops and pubs 1 mile.

The beaches are a main attraction of the North Devon region for many and with some of the best in the UK like Saunton Sands, Woolacombe, Westward Ho! and Croyde being easily reached by car from the property, surfing, windsurfing and lazy sandy days should definitely be on your agenda.
The Southwest Coast Path is also a popular ‘must visit’ for keen runners and walkers! If golf is your thing, then you will be spoiled for choice with excellent courses including the Royal North Devon Club in Westward Ho! which was founded in 1864 and is the oldest golf course in England and the wonderful Championship Links Saunton Club. The popular Tarka Trail can be accessed nearby and provides the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line by foot or by cycle allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and scenery while discovering the towns of Barnstaple and Bideford where you can wander during the weekly pannier markets, with a host of local produce, quality cafés and crafts on offer.
On your Tarka Trail journey be sure to visit the Fremington Quay Café for a tasty bite to eat and then the estuary-side village of Instow – a must see! Other places not to forget to visit are the world-famous village of Clovelly with its steep pedestrianised cobbled main street, traditional architecture, donkeys and views over the Bristol Channel and Lynton & Lynmouth for stunning views out towards Wales. And be sure not to forget to visit Exmoor or Dartmoor National Parks, the former with its magical night skies in Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’.
And for a day with a difference take a trip across to Lundy Island, home to England’s first statutory Marine Nature Reserve due to its unique flora and fauna. Measuring just 3 miles by ¾ mile, this entire island has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest and trips depart from Bideford and Ilfracombe.

You’ll be on the right track during your stay at The Station Master’s House, which forms part of the former railway station in the hamlet of Torver. Close to Coniston Water, this is an excellent starting point to explore the nearby countryside and wildlife, and the Lakeland Fells including Coniston Old Man. The property has been thoughtfully furnished throughout, with a well-equipped kitchen and a living/dining room which boasts comfy leather sofas. The property offers two double bedrooms, one of which has an additional single bed, and they both have sumptuous bed linen adding an extra comfort. They both enjoy views over the beautiful garden and surrounding area. This spacious cottage still has the distinctive feel of its former use, with a raised lawned terrace which is part of the old platform - the perfect place to sit and relax.
The nearby Lakeland villages of Coniston and Hawkshead are idyllic and have an abundance of shops and cafés. For the more adventurous, why not take to the tree top challenge at Grizedale Forest, or venture along the many paths by foot or by bike. For steam enthusiasts, you can still take to the tracks with a ride on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite trains near Ulverston, or the elegant Victorian Steam Yacht Gondola which sails between March and November on Coniston Water.
