The village is close to the dramatic North Devon coast with some of the best beaches in the country – a day trip to Woolacombe and Saunton are not to be missed. The South West coastal path and the Tarka Trail are superb for walking or running and the latter is excellent for cycling too; the coastline is varied, dramatic and interesting to say the least. RHS Rosemoor, Marwood Gardens, Arlington Court, Clovelly, Exmoor Zoo, the Combe Martin Dinosaur Park and Hartland Abbey are all within driving distance and for the keen golfers, Portmore Golf club just outside Barnstaple and Saunton Golf club are both within easy reach too. Visit the National Trust’s Watersmeet Gorge, Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway in Lynton/Lynmouth. Up on Exmoor, there are various walks to suit all abilities, as well as pretty places worth visiting including Tarr Steps, Landacre Bridge and the charming little village of Withypool, not to mention the dark star gazing skies on the moors.
