Llamedos is a well-presented, detached house, located in an elevated position on a residential cul-de-sac with four bedrooms. It has a bunk room on the ground floor, and three bedrooms on the lower ground floor, namely a twin, a kingsize (with a TV, door leading out to the garden and a large en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower over) and a double with TV, doors out to the decking and en-suite shower room. On this floor there’s also a family bathroom.
Back upstairs on the ground floor you’ll find a comfortable living room with a Smart TV, a gas feature fire, lovely views, and patio doors leading out to a small decking area at the top of a staircase that leads down to the garden. Bideford is the second largest town in North Devon with plenty to see and do with a lovely river front and port. Beaches, such as Westward Ho! and Instow are firm local favourites and are less than 4 miles away, and the Southwest Coastal Path is a must for keen walkers and runners, as is the popular Tarka Trail, which stretches for about.180 miles, which is excellent for walking or cycling, and can be accessed from close to the house, where bikes can also be hired. With regular trips from Bideford, you can enjoy the home to England’s first statutory Marine Nature Reserve, due to its unique flora and fauna. Town Mills is a historic, Grade II listed former Mill and Manor House situated on the banks of the River Torridge on the outskirts of Great Torrington in North Devon. Built by Lord Rolle in 1823 and made famous as ‘Tarka’s Mill’ in Henry Williamson’s book ‘Tarka The Otter’, Town Mills started life as a Grain Mill and a Saw Mill, both mills being powered by waterwheels. Now, almost 200 years later, Town Mills has been sympathetically converted into seven well-appointed holiday cottages all with their own charm and personality.
From a cosy holiday cottage that sleeps three people, to a larger six-bedroom holiday cottage that sleeps twelve, every cottage benefits from character and charm combined with modern convenience. Located in the beautiful North Devon countryside, Town Mills is ideally situated for visiting the North Devon Coast, Exmoor, travelling The Tarka Trail, or visiting our next-door neighbour, the RHS Gardens at Rosemoor.
Riverside is one of the most popular cottages at Town Mills, partly because of its location and private veranda overlooking the river. This charming two-storey cottage originally formed part of the stable blocks almost 200 years ago. It is a good-sized four-bedroom property. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, and a twin bedroom. Both of these bedrooms have French windows offering easy access to the veranda. With nobody to overlook you, waking up to the views of the river and countryside is a great way to start the day. The main bathroom is also downstairs, and has an over-bath shower, plus toilet and wash basin. Two further twin rooms are located upstairs. A selection of outdoor furniture on the veranda provides the ideal setting for enjoying a little al-fresco dining whilst looking at the local wildlife. You may spot an otter if you’re lucky.
On-site, there is a indoor shared swimming pool which is kept warm between 31-32 degrees, so is suitable for even the smallest guests. The owners offer the opportunity to reserve the pool for your exclusive use, allowing you the chance for a session of family fun, or a quiet moment to relax. There is a games room with a free pool table and a classic table football, along with a dart board and fruit machine. Located by the riverside, but securely fenced, the children’s play area offers picnic bench seating with swings, slide and climbing frame, as well as an elevated playhouse, its the ideal spot to spend a lazy afternoon with a picnic whilst trying to spot an otter or some of the other many local wildlife visitors. For younger guests, there is a kids hideaway where they can escape to. On the opposite side of the Mill there is a garden where you can enjoy a few moments, maybe have a picnic or watch the peacocks as they wander around.
The countryside around Town Mills is dotted with sleepy villages nestled among the hills, while extensive woodlands, traversed by many footpaths, offer the chance to experience the area’s natural beauty. Local attractions include the renowned RHS gardens at Rosemoor (adjacent) and Dartington Crystal, offering a factory tour and visitor centre. Great Torrington is only a mile away with good shopping and amenities, and there is golf at nearby Hartland. Town Mills adjoins Torrington Common which extends to 365 acres, incorporating 20 miles of footpaths. The common is a haven for wildlife. The ‘Big Sheep’ and ‘Milky Way’ theme parks are each less than 10 miles away.
The River Torridge runs downstream to the ancient port of Bideford, still with a working quay offering boat trips to Lundy Island. Just around the corner is the attractive little town of Appledore with its colourful houses and narrow streets. To either side lies Devon’s most spectacular stretch of coastal scenery – a chain of magnificent cliffs and rocky promontories, interspersed here and there by long flat sandy beaches, where the Atlantic breakers roll in to create ideal surfing conditions. There are splendid beaches at Instow and Westward Ho!, the latter bordered by the Royal North Devon Golf Club, and the Northam Nature Reserve. Further west is the supremely picturesque Clovelly, with narrow, cobbled main street descending at a dizzying gradient to the little harbour below. The cathedral city of Exeter can be reached via a delightful drive through lush river valleys.

Broadshade Holiday Apartments are self-catering apartments located just a few minutes’ walk from Paignton, a seaside town making up part of the beautiful English Riviera. The harbour is just down the road with an array of bars and restaurants as well as a small convenience store for stocking up on essentials. Located under 3 miles from Crackington Haven, a coastal village at the head of a cove on the Atlantic coast and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is popular with tourists, walkers, surfers and geology enthusiasts. At high tide the shoreline is mainly stony but when low you are greeted to a lovely golden sandy beach with plenty of rock pools to enjoy. And surfers, both experienced and beginners enjoy the varying tidal conditions the cove provides and with lifeguard cover from July to end of September you can relax a little bit more too! Locally there are also tea rooms and a pub to enjoy. On-site, there is a shared games room with pool table, air hockey, dart board, large chalk board, disco ball and bluetooth speaker.
If it’s the beach you want with miles of sand, swimming and surf then you’ll be spoiled for choice in the wider area. Much of the coastline is owned by the National Trust and is a haven for wildlife, providing fabulous walking opportunities. There are many pretty coves and inlets to discover within a short drive of this property including Boscastle, Morwenstow and stunning Tintagel, inextricably linked to the legend of King Arthur. Further afield the fishing port of Padstow is a popular tourist destination too. Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited, you will want to come back to time and time again. It has something for everyone including great beaches for relaxing and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafés to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the South West Coast Path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside.
Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and a heritage centre at Bude Castle. The Old Rydon Inn is located on site at the owner’s pub/restaurant in the popular area of Kingsteignton just outside of Newton Abbot, Teignmouth and Shaldon.
Boasting facilities such as guests being able to be served in their dining room via the restaurant itself, a quirky dining table which also couples up as a pool table, open fire and bar area with beer pumps in the living room which can be hooked up to barrels at an additional charge. The property is also pet friendly and has plenty of parking on site. As you enter, guests find themselves in the open living/dining area, with smart TV, surround sound system, dining/pool table, open fire and bar area. A great area for spending quality time getting together. Upstairs then leads to the bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen has been recently refurbished with high quality appliances and is fully equipped with all that guests could need, the room also has its own surround sound to really get in the mood while rustling up a meal. should you want to cook while you are away that is! The third and final bedroom contains zip & link beds which are configured as a super king bed with attached but can be separated on request. By the front door there is bench table and chair seating which the owner often reserves for guests use only, to ensure that there is always somewhere to sit outside of the property.
