The master bedroom in each property features a flatscreen TV, and home-made meals can be pre-ordered and delivered to the cottage (arranged direct with the owner). The cottages lie just a short distance from some of south Devon’s finest beaches and tourist attractions, including the historic town of Totnes which is just 15 minutes away and sits on the River Dart with cruises down river to Greenway and Dartmouth. A cosmopolitan town, Totnes, 7 miles away, has a vast array of independent shops, weekly markets, galleries, leisure centre and many lovely restaurants, bistros and cafés. The seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay are 40 minutes’ drive, and it is just a 15-minute drive to the yachting haven of Dartmouth, and the coastline between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, both 7 miles away, has many stunning beaches, hidden coves and fantastic coastal walks.

Guests of these cottages can also enjoy a range of on-site facilities suitable for all the family, including a heated indoor swimming pool (available via a booking system) with a private changing room and shower. There is a large games room set over two floors, including a fitness room with a cross trainer, treadmill, rowing machine and exercise bike. The top floor of the games room has a full-size American pool table, big sofa and Sky TV. The bottom floor has table tennis and table football. On-site there is also a laundry and ironing room. The Wheeldon Off-Road Centre, adjacent to the cottages, boasts a purpose-built, 30,000 square foot indoor arena (split in separate halves for motorbikes and bicycles) and junior training circuit, and is the ideal year-round venue for the whole family to learn to ride a motorcycle in a fun and controlled environment. Discounted rates are available for children and adults during the school holidays (booking by arrangement and on arrival), providing children and adults with the opportunity to experience the ultimate, two-wheel off-road adventure for the first time. The instructors at Wheeldon Farm are all ACU accredited and will guide the children through their paces every step of the way. For some activities, all the kit, clothing, boots, gloves, helmets and fun bikes are provided. All that’s needed is the enthusiasm to have a great deal of fun! Wheeldon Farm now offers all of it’s holiday cottage customers a free 1 hour ‘taster’ ride on our professionally maintained Haibike electric bikes, after which they are available to hire. Also, clay pigeon shooting, air rifle and archery are available - these are run by a fully qualified instructor and all equipment is provided. The activities run on a Monday, Thursday and Sunday. The Old Roundhouse is a unique escape in sumptuous accommodation, the perfect holiday retreat in genuine peace and tranquillity. With sea views, this is an enchanting holiday location with a private, 30-minute walk to a secluded pebble and sand beach and the spectacular South West Coastal Path (access only available from 2nd Feb - 31st Aug), where a chain of magnificent cliffs stretches along the Heritage Coast to Hartland Point. A pretty, 60-minute walk across fields leads to a little-known sandy beach (Porledge Beach), which is a wonderful sun trap and well off the tourist map, making it usually very quiet, even on the busiest summer day. The famous surfing beaches of Westward Ho! (4 miles) and Bude are an easy drive. Bikes can be hired to explore the nearby Tarka Trail and there is sailing, water skiing, golf and riding locally. Numerous NT properties in the area as well as the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Docton Mill. Visit Hartland Abbey and the charming village of Clovelly (6 miles). The Atlantic Village Outlet Shopping Centre which includes a large supermarket is just 2 miles.

In the grounds of the owners’ very well-presented and maintained fishing venue, these three holiday properties (refs 29794, 30788 and 31308) are well-equipped to ensure a restful holiday. Kingfisher is a detached, single-storey cottage, sleeping six guests, The Lodge is set over two floors and sleeps four guests, and Mole is semi-detached and also sleeps four guests. The cottages have their own enclosed, lawned garden with sitting-out area and views across the beautiful grounds. There are two well-stocked coarse fishing lakes at Riverton which are included in the price of your stay, as well as a third beautiful lake (members only).

If you are not fishing, there is still plenty to do in this lovely part of Devon. Located just outside the regional town of Barnstaple, the cottages are in an ideal location to explore this stunning part of the British Isles. A few miles away, you have access to some of the best beaches in the country including Woolacombe and Saunton. The nearest beach at Instow is ideal for children or just a great place to walk off life’s stresses, and then enjoy a meal or drink at one of the pubs and restaurants along the front. The town of Barnstaple is only a short drive away and has most amenities you may require as well as a busy high street and market. There are numerous places of interest close by including the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the historic fishing village of Clovelly. For the younger ones, a visit to the Big Sheep or Milkyway is a good option. There is walking on Dartmoor or hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail. Clay pigeon shooting can be organised by prior arrangement with the owner. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Tutchenor Farmhouse is a detached holiday cottage, privately set within the heart of Devonshire countryside, on the edge of a peaceful hamlet amidst working farms. Set within the quiet enclosed farmyard with walled lawned front garden and small lawned area to the rear overlooking fields. The property is decorated with a Christmas theme during the festive season, making it an ideal base all year round. Okehampton and Holsworthy, each 10 miles, offer shops, pubs, restaurants and weekly markets. Hatherleigh, 8 miles, has preserved its character and charm as a true Devon market town. Tuesday morning is without doubt the best time to visit. The market holds a fascinating insight into rural Devon. Here you will find local farmers bidding for poultry and small animals.
