    The kitchen is fully-equipped with everything you need for preparing a lovely home cooked meal. The living/dining room is comfortably furnished with a two-seater sofa, which can be a double sofa bed on request, two armchairs, Smart TV, DVD player and a dining area. As the evening draws to a close, venture up to the first floor to discover two double bedrooms; one with a standard double and the other with a kingsize bed. The accommodation is completed by a well-appointed family bathroom. Outside, guests can enjoy the private enclosed garden which has beautiful countryside views and plenty of outdoor seating. The friendly village of Highampton is just a 5-minute drive from the property, where this a village store and lovely thatched pub serving food. The neighbouring village of Sheepwash is also within easy reach. This part of rural Devon is known as Ruby Country, ideal for walkers and countryside lovers, and is also within easy reach of the Tarka Trail which offers spectacular off road walking and cycling. Stroll along the River Torridge where you are more than likely to spot an otter family and maybe a kingfisher or two. Further afield, the stunning coastline offers plenty of beaches, ideal for surfing, swimming and rock pool gazing. The coastal towns of Bude, Clovelly, Bideford and Westward Ho! are all within a 35-50 minute drive where you will find traditional seaside activities, surfing and the South West Coastal Path. The pretty fishing villages of Padstow, Rock and Port Isaac, made famous by the the programme Doc Martin, are well worth a visit, as is mystical Tintagel with the legendary King Arthur’s Castle.

    A shorter drive south takes you to the wild beauty of Dartmoor National Park where you can have a delightful pub lunch in the village of Belstone, or take a walk on the moors and see Dartmoor ponies. Exmoor, Bodmin Moor, the RHS Rosemoor at Great Torrington, several National Trust properties and a good variety of visitor attractions are all within easy reach. The pretty village of Instow, located between Barnstaple and Bideford has stretches of golden, sandy beaches and dunes, which makes this an ideal place for a relaxing family holiday.     Situated in the fishing village of Appledore, set on a hillside where the River Torridge and Taw meet, you will find this quaint cobbled street village. The rich history of this area has been centred around ship building, take a visit to the North Devon Maritime Museum. The quay, popular with crabbing has a great many traditional fishing boats which also are neighbours with yachts and pleasure boats offering trips across, or along the Estuary. A trip to the pretty 17th century village of Instow is a must, (via foot ferry) which is a wonderful sheltered stretch of dog friendly sandy beach.
