The magnificent gardens of Kiftsgate Court and Hidcote Manor - with its lovely views over the Vale of Evesham - are not to be missed, as well as many other National Trust properties in the locality; Stratford-upon-Avon (approximately 8 miles), shops, restaurants and pubs, 200 yards.

The River Severn is a 10-15 minute walk from the property whilst the Forest of Dean offers plenty for the adventurous including mountain biking, zip wires, Go Ape, kayaking and horse riding. There is an abundance of cycle tracks and valley walks where you may even encounter the native wild boar. Alternatively, just relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this rural retreat.

West End Farm Lodge Alabaster is a detached lodge that has been built in 2023, situated on the owner’s 14-acre working farm. Set within the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with fabulous far-reaching views of the rolling countryside. All ground floor accommodation with open plan living space with a well-equipped kitchen – perfect for cooking up a storm whilst all socialising together. There are two bedrooms, both with en-suite shower rooms. One of the bedrooms has a zip and link bed so can be converted to twin beds if needed. Outside there is decking area with seating and enclosed lawned area – perfect for your four legged friends. There is an outdoor washing area for bikes and dogs, and use of a utility room with washing machine. Dog sitting is available with prior arrangement and paid directly to the owner.

Riding, golfing, canoeing, fishing, kayaking and climbing are all available in the surrounding areas. Cycling is very popular in the Forest of Dean, with dedicated tracks and trails to suit all abilities. Rich in wildlife and nature, it has many picnic sites to soak up this atmospheric area. Local attractions include Puzzlewood, Go Ape high wire adventure course, the steam railway, Little Dean Jail and Dean Heritage Centre. Clearwell Caves and Tintern Abbey are also very popular. The property is nestled in the village of Hewelsfield and there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. Explore the market towns of Abergavenny with the annual food festival and superb walks to be had. Monmouth has lots of cafés, restaurants and shops to meander around or enjoy excellent walking in the Forest of Dean and along the riverbank. This is a perfect base from which to visit nearby attractions which include Clearwell Caves, The Secret Forest, Puzzlewood, Perry Grove Steam Railway, the sculpture trail and a railway museum.
The Forest of Dean has always been a huge draw for cyclists with some wonderful routes. Fishing, horse riding, cycling and canoeing are readily available nearby. Areas within easy reach also include Beechenhurst and Mallards Pike. Symonds Yat is a popular destination for ornithologists due to the presence of nesting peregrine falcons. Fancy a day at the races, then Chepstow’s racecourse is a short drive, for the golfers amongst you there are some excellent golf courses nearby. The area is wonderful for sightseeing and touring, and easily accessible all year round. Whatever your day brings Hopewell Barn will be a welcome return. Rivendell is a detached bungalow with incredible views over the Severn Estuary. The property consists of a well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, and an open plan living/dining area with Freeview TV, and a cosy open fire. There is also a family bathroom and three bedrooms, comprising a single bedroom, a twin bedroom, and a master double bedroom. Outside you will find an enclosed garden with a lawn, flower beds, seating areas, and a summerhouse. Access to a lower lawn with an orchard is down steps or a sloping grass path. A handrail is provided for use as necessary.
Walks can be had directly from the garden out into the forest. The Forest of Dean is bordered by the Wye Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the River Severn. In this compact area, there are outdoor activities in abundance including horse riding, golf, fishing, mountain biking trails from easy to extreme, canoeing, kayaking, and rock climbing. All about 10-20 minutes away. Chepstow and Goodrich Castles and Tintern Abbey are interesting historical sites for all ages. The cathedral city of Gloucester, Monmouth, Chepstow, and the pretty market town on Ross-on-Wye are all within a short drive.
