Set in an idyllic location, The Dairy Farm, a 16th-century thatched cottage with original oak beams and inglenook fireplace, is close by the delightful market town of Romsey within easy each of the New Forest.
This property offers comfortable accommodation and makes the ideal holiday base for exploring. Perfect for a family of three, this two-bedroom detached cottage is set on 3 acres of land and has a large pond in the back garden, please be careful with pets and young children as there is no fence for the pond and the garden is not enclosed. There is an enclosed dog walking fields next door to the property. There is also a paddock within the grounds, and on Wednesdays there is a lady who uses the summer house for sound therapy sessions.
On the ground floor you will find a large living/dining room complete with Smart TV and wood burner. The kitchen is fully equipped and has an electric Aga, you can also make use of the Nespresso coffee maker. There is a winding staircase to the first floor with height restrictions at the bottom and steep steps leading to a master bedroom and second bedroom with a single bed. The master bedroom has a sloping floor.
Locally, the pretty town offers many amenities, shops, restaurants, inns, golf and a leisure centre with large swimming pool. The Test Valley, known for its fishing and walking, The Test Way and The Clarendon Way are all nearby. For keen gardeners, visit the world-famous Hilliers Arboretum, or the nearby Mottisfont. Broadlands and Romsey Abbey are also close by. Mill Lane Meadows Nature Reserve is also one to see.
The area has plenty of attractions for all ages, within easy reach are Paultons Park, Marwell Zoo, the cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury, and maritime history at Southampton, where you can take a ferry to the Isle of Wight. The New Forest is a short drive away, which covers almost 145 square miles. Bournemouth is renowned for its clean sandy beaches, year round entertainment and facilities, and is within half an hour’s drive.

Within a 5-minute drive, visit the popular tourist resort of Sandown, with seaside entertainment including amusements, Tiger Island Zoo, putting, crazy golf, pier leisure centre and waterside dining in one of the many restaurants and cafés. Shanklin is also within easy reach, with the magical Chine, and quaint thatched roofed tea rooms, houses and shops. There is so much to do on this sunny island, plenty of National Trust homes and gardens including Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s former holiday abode, Carisbrooke Mill, Lavender Farm, donkey sanctuary, glass making, dinosaur park and various museums. Many outdoor pursuits can be enjoyed on the island, including excellent scenic walks along miles of Heritage coastline, sailing, fishing, hang gliding, surfing, golf, cycling, riding and crabbing. Peacefully located along a quiet rural lane, this spacious detached family home enjoys a lawned garden and superb far reaching views over local countryside. It is only half a mile from the picturesque village of Brighstone with its thatched roof shops and cottages, pub, restaurant and small museum. Longford Cottage has been newly refurbished for 2023, and has been beautifully furnished; this cottage is a great choice for a holiday on the Isle of Wight. There are two double bedrooms, one of which is located on the ground floor, and a further snug with a chair bed and the best view. A beautiful kitchen with patio doors leading out to the garden, a charming living room, and a storage area for boot, coats, bicycles or kayaks and this room completes the ground floor. The absolute show stopper at Longford Cottage is the bathroom which definitely has the wow factor! There is a lovely garden with a stunning rural view. Sonos speakers have been installed throughout this beautiful cottage, so you can have music wherever you go.
Havenstreet is a delightful village approximately 2 miles from the seaside resort of Ryde. Havenstreet is home to the award-winning attraction which is the Isle of Wight steam railway. The village also has a great pub which also serves delicious food. There are many cycle trails from the village which will take you through beautiful rolling scenery. The “Island” as locals refer to it, has so much to offer such as The Needles, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Blackgang Chine, Dinosaur Isle, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle and Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens are some of the attractions on offer. The sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes also make for a great day out, so whatever you decide, the Isle of Wight has plenty to offer. Beach 4 miles.

Honey Bee Cottage is a beautiful, no smoking, dog-friendly cottage, perfect for a romantic break or family get away. With large gardens to enjoy, you really will be able to unwind here. The cottage has been decorated and furnished beautifully, and you will find this to be very comfortable. You will be greeted with a welcome pack, which the host will send you a request before your arrival.
Picturesque Winkle Street in Calbourne was originally known as Barrington Row, and it was named after the Barrington family who owned the estate when the first cottages were built in the 1750’s. You will almost certainly be visited by families of ducks that will be eager to be fed. Just a couple of minutes’ drive and you will find Calbourne Water Mill and Rural Museum. Set in 35 acres of rural landscape, this is the only working water mill on the Isle of Wight. Calbourne offers good accessibility by bicycle to the Military Road which is a cyclist’s paradise. There is a secure bike storage should you require. Head on to the west coast of the Isle of Wight where you will find the ancient town of Yarmouth with its plentiful restaurants, shops and bars.
Further west and you will find the most beautiful beaches, along with the iconic, famous landmark attraction, The Needles, which has so much more to enjoy than the stunning views - it is a destination not to be missed. The range of attractions includes the spectacular chairlift ride, taking you on a journey past the coloured sands cliffs of Alum Bay to the beach. Soak up the breathtakingly beautiful views from the beach and enjoy a paddle in the sea. Or get closer to The Needles by taking a pleasure cruise - the sunsets are incredible here.

This Shepherd’s Hut with stunning views, hot tub and private use of the indoor pool has direct access to Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty South Coast paths, pubs and shops. The living area has stable doors from which to enjoy the uninterrupted valley views, and the dining furniture can be used inside or out. The bedroom area with a wardrobe and storage, has a double bed made up of quality linens, that can be stored vertically for extra space. The garden is enclosed and partly sheltered and has a fire pit and undercover area with fairy lights, a worktop, sink, BBQ (including starter coals) and loungers to soak up the great views. This is an area with low light pollution and the Protected Sky Status for star gazing! Visitors have direct access to 2-acre dog walking paddocks and further Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty Isle of Wight paths. There is a shared indoor heated swimming pool and private use can be arranged with the owner prior to arrival.

You are welcome to join the owners for a walk or cycle to the nearby St Catherine’s Oratory or ‘Pepperpot’, as it is known locally, or into the close by villages of Whitell and Niton, with many options to venture further afield.

Outdoor pursuits are well catered for including horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, watersports and golf. There are numerous attractions to discover for all ages. Pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens, Blackgang Chine, the oldest themed attraction in the UK, the famous Needles, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle or the sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes.
