This delightful period farmhouse, one of a pair, nestles peacefully in the Hamstead Heritage Coast, which is rich in wildlife and birds. Nestled in a stunning conservation area, the holiday property is a short walk to the historic Newtown Creek, and set in woodlands, it offers direct access onto walk ways. The farmhouse was originally farm cottages to Hamstead Grange and parts of the property are believed to date back to Tudor times, when the grange was owned by the Monks of Quarr Abbey on the island.
Seashore and cliff walks can be found along the coastal paths and outdoor pursuits are well catered for including horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, watersports and golf. There are numerous attractions to discover for all ages on this beautiful sunny island. The Needles landmark attraction is a must see and is a short distance away to the west, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and the coloured sands of Alum Bay. Discover towering cliffs, farmland, woodland and river valleys, all linked by a 500-mile network of footpaths. The cottages are within easy reach of Freshwater Bay, Shanklin Chine, Godshill, St Catherine’s Lighthouse, The Needles, Alum Bay, Carisbrooke Castle, Calbourne Mill and Blackgang Chine. Sailing, watersports, golf, fishing and horse riding are all available locally. This attractive and spacious single storey holiday home offers stunning panoramic views over the countryside and downs. Located within the grounds of a peaceful caravan site in the delightful village of Newchurch which has a renowned pub and the famous Garlic Farm slightly further. It is ideal for families wishing to enjoy the numerous sight seeing attractions that this popular island offers, and there are also super walks locally. The seaside resort of Sandown, with its long golden stretch of sandy beach, pier and promenade is about a five minute drive, with various entertainment including trampolines, fun-rides, putting, crazy golf, leisure centre with indoor pool, the zoo (where Tiger Isle was filmed), slides, and many cafes, bars, restaurants and pubs. Also within easy driving distance are National Trust homes and gardens and the English Heritage Property; Osborne House, where Queen Victoria used to reside, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Mottistone Manor. Other places of interest are The Needles, Blackgang Chine, Donkey Sanctuary, Rosemary’s vineyard, Havenstreet steam train, Shanklin Chine, Dinosaur Isle and Tapnell Farm Park. Golden Hill Fort is situated within 50 acres of Golden Hill Country Park. Originally built in 1863 in a distinctive hexagonal shape, which is elevated 60 metres above the north west coast of the Isle of Wight. This spectacular Grade I listed building has now been beautifully converted into 18 luxury houses.

Internally, the property offers brick barrel vaulted ceilings with coloured LED mood lighting, solid oak floors with underfloor heating and high quality appliances. Externally, the communal rooftop gardens (approximately 5,500 square metres), offers stunning, panoramic 360 degree views across the Solent, English Channel and the countryside. The position of Captain’s Cottage couldn’t be better, it is right in the heart of this beautiful seaside resort, with shops, bars, and restaurants on your doorstep. It’s only a 10-minute stroll to the wonderful sandy beaches too. Shanklin is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the island, home to the Old Village and Shanklin Chine. The seafront is packed with amusements, activities, and crazy golf courses. Within a moment’s walk of Captain’s Cottage is the bus station, which has great links to anywhere on the island and there is also an open-top bus in the summer season, great for sight seeing. At the end of the road, there is also a train station, which stops at several coastal towns. Osborne House was once Queen Victoria’s favourite residence and is open to the public and well worth a visit, as are Carisbrook Castle, The Needles rock formations, Robin Hill park with acres of parkland, natural woodland, countryside gardens, adventures, and special events, Ventnor Botanical Gardens and Shanklin Chine, a deep wooded gorge with streams and waterfalls.
