Steps lead from the terrace and hot tub down to a paddock, which is backed by woodland and is an ideal place for enjoying a picnic. In the cooler weather or in the evenings, you can light the wood burner, settle down in front of the huge cinema screen and open the popcorn! Enjoy sitting on the balcony with sea glimpses accessible from one of the bedrooms.

Walks are available from the doorstep, or you can gather your buckets and spades and head to Folkestone, 3 miles, where you will find the aptly named Sunny Sands Beach by the harbour wall, and where you can treat yourself to fish and chips. For animal lovers, Port Lympne Zoo and Howletts Zoo make great days out, whilst Canterbury is a ½-hour drive. Visit the magnificent cathedral there, or take a boat or punt out on the River Stour. The bargain hunter is also well catered for at McArthur Glen designer outlet at Ashford and the De Bradlei Wharf in Dover. Whilst there, visit imposing Dover Castle, or bring your passport and take a ferry from Dover to Calais, or take the train and have lunch in Paris. Beach 3 miles. A stone’s throw from the Royal Military canal, where you can explore by water, with rowing boats and kayaks to hire. Wander down the cobbled and historic high street dotted with independent shops, quaint tea rooms and cafés, and a great choice of restaurants to explore, just a few minutes’ walk from Hydrangea House, you couldn’t be in a better position to explore all that Hythe has to offer.

Built in 1875, Hamilton Lodge is a Victorian house featuring its own elegant turret. Each room has been designed to have a different theme from a classic antique feel to modern contemporary.
The Lodge is built over three floors with loads of space for between 12 and 15 guests, not counting babies and dogs. Many original features have been maintained, including the lead glass in the entrance hall which has been used as a colour scheme for the interior design. Breathtakingly high ceilings with beautiful chandeliers crown the reception rooms.
The large sitting room is spacious and has comfortable seating to allow all guests to come together for movie nights, whilst the elegant library allows for some quiet space. The large open plan living space at the back of the house is ideal for socialising, cooking, dining and just chilling and chatting. The sliding doors open out onto the garden to create a large space for entertaining.
On the upper floors, Hamilton Lodge has six bedrooms. Bedroom 1 boasting a rocking chair in the turret, and a chaise longue. The three bathrooms all have under floor heating and allow ample space and convenience for all guests. There are side sea views from some of the bedrooms, as the sea is just a few yards away.

Westgate on Sea is a friendly seaside town which boasts a wide sandy beach, local shops and cafes and a lovely old-fashioned independent cinema.
There is a well known path called the Viking Trail which passes through Westgate on Sea and offers a lovely coastal foot and cycle path from Reculver to Ramsgate. Margate is about a 20-minute coastal walk, or is a short five-minute drive, or train ride.

Set on a clifftop, carved into an impressive chalk shelf, there really is no location like it, with the most stunning sea views over the English channel, with France in the distance, and across the beautiful Kent coastline over the Wear Bay and to Dungeness in the distance.
