Sea Haven is a large spacious bungalow situated at Hunmanby Gap just over 3 miles from the popular seaside resort of Filey. The owner has taken great care in providing a fantastic holiday home for families to enjoy. The large open plan living and kitchen area has floor to ceiling patio doors taking advantage of the magnificent sea views and leading out onto a decked seating area and lawn. There’s a cosy dual sided wood burner separating the kitchen and the living/dining area. The kitchen has all the mod-cons expected of a house of this standard as well as a utility area. There are gardens to the front and the rear which are completely enclosed. For guests taking their four-legged friends, a dog crate is also provided.
A 2-minute walk and you are on a stunning vast beach that stretches for over 3 miles to Filey and beyond. It’s a beach that never looks busy as it’s so wide and has lots of space for everybody. Great for the children or walking the dogs, or watching the horse riders galloping through the waves in the early morning. There is an excellent café that serves the beach guests and provides meals and drinks as well as ice creams. Filey is a very traditional seaside resort, not quite as busy as its neighbour Scarborough however it has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. Filey is also the end of the Cleveland Way walk so you can enjoy a walk along the cliff tops to Scarborough following part of this very famous 109 mile trail. The seaside resorts of Scarborough and Bridlington are just a short drive away. Both resorts are very popular holiday destinations and worth a visit during your stay.
The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is just a short drive where you can see the puffins and other migrating birds from the viewing points on the cliff tops. Yorkshire is famous for its stately homes and Sewerby Hall, Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere House and the wonderful Castle Howard are just a short drive. Sea Haven is not far from the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds made famous by the artist David Hockney, who often paints the rolling hills of the Wolds. Beach 70 yards. Situated in a quiet residential area, in the village of Hunmanby, near Filey, the property is less than 3 miles from the beach at Primrose Valley. The property boasts a lovely conservatory overlooking the rear, enclosed garden, perfect for those travelling with children and/or pets. There are shops and pubs within walking distance, so no need to take the car. Hunmanby is located on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, where the rolling hills were the inspiration for David Hockney’s paintings. The Wolds Way walk runs nearby, a 79-mile walk through the tumbling Yorkshire hills and countryside. The Centenary Way also runs past the village, a walk that starts in York and finishes in Filey, so for those who enjoy the great outdoors, The Retreat is a great base for a walking holiday.
The seaside resort of Filey is just a few minutes drive away, and is an old fashioned, quieter resort than it’s neighbours, Scarborough and Bridlington. Filey is renowned for its large beautiful sweeping beach which has won many awards over the years. Further north there is Scarborough and Whitby as well as the North York Moors National Park. You can catch the steam trains from Pickering to Whitby, crossing over the beautiful moors and calling at Goathland, also known as the village of Aidensfield in the TV programme Heartbeat.
The property is ideally situated for visiting medieval York, a vibrant, lively city that has been voted in the top 10 cities to visit for several years. York appeals to all ages with it’s historical buildings, Jorvik Viking Centre and the Railway Museum, as well as the many leisure cruises available along the river. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton is just a few minutes drive away, and offers the opportunity to see puffins, kittiwakes and gannets, all perched along the chalk cliffs. Beach 2½ miles. Located in a quiet part of the popular fishing town of Whitby, Valentines On Love Lane benefits from a spacious interior and a lovely enclosed garden. Whitby is a wonderful Gothic town with plenty to do for all the family to enjoy. Why not attend one of the many events or festivals such as the Regatta and Goth Weekender, or just stroll through the cobbled streets with its ’jet’ jewellers, Goth shops and places to eat and drink. For outdoor enthusiasts, The Cleveland Way is just a few hundred yards away, where you can turn left for Saltburn and Sandsend or right for Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. There is also a public golf course close by.

The Whitby coast is ideal for beach lovers and those wanting to take a boat trip out to sea in the hope of spotting a whale, or just wanting to enjoy the long stretch of all year round dog friendly beach. The Victorian town of Scarborough is just to the south, with its Sealife Centre and the popular open air theatre, attracting top musical acts for all ages. Saltburn and Sandsend are popular with surfers, and the quaint village of Staithes is worth a visit with its links to the explorer Captain James Cook.

Head inland and you will enter the North York Moors National Park with its miles of beautiful countryside, walking routes and waterfalls. If you don’t fancy a drive, take the steam train from Whitby right into ’Heartbeat country’. The medieval walled city of York is just an hour away and you’ll find plenty of attractions from The National Railway Museum to York Dungeons and The Jorvik Viking Centre. This dog friendly cottage offers a comfortable stay for a family or a small group of friends. Hinderwell is a great location to set out to discover the North York Moors National Park, the nearby coastal towns, and villages, just a mile along the road and a gentle stroll from the beautiful beach of Runswick Bay, voted as ‘Best beach of the year’ in 2020 by The Times newspapers.
The accommodation is well equipped for six guests. It has a pretty living area with comfortable sofas, a spacious kitchen/dining area and three bedrooms. A variety of sleeping options and two bathrooms giving versatility for a small group. To the rear of the property, a few paces across the path takes you to an enclosed lawned garden area, a great place for the kids to play, while a summerhouse and further small decked area give far reaching views across pastureland and the sea. The rural village of Hinderwell makes a great base if you like to get out and about. The picturesque resorts of Staithes, Saltburn-by-the-Sea and Whitby are just a short drive away. Alternatively, the village is on a direct bus route into Whitby, perfect for avoiding parking at busy times. The cottage is close to two village inns serving good locally sourced produce and real ales; both are dog friendly. Other village amenities on hand include a family butcher, petrol station, churches, village hall, tennis courts, hair salon and a fish and chip shop. Hinderwell is an ideal base for walking holidays and is close to rural walking routes. Ferndene Cottage is perfectly located to access the Cleveland Way National Trail and the Esk Valley Walk. Situated in the village of Cloughton and built in 2019, Oliver’s View is a beautiful, semi-detached, three bedroom house of a very good standard with furnishings and décor to match. It is named after Oliver’s Mount that can be seen from the property to the right, due to the uninterrupted views across the countryside from the garden. A wildlife pond and the sea can also be seen from the garden. Oliver’s View is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in an idyllic village location. The village has a good bus service that runs between Whitby and Scarborough, and it also has two village pubs that serves food, one The Blacksmith’s Arms, owned by the Duchy of Lancaster, famously hosted Her Majesty the Queen for lunch!

Lying on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, the stunning scenery and walks that are right on your doorstep are wonderful. The Cleveland Way runs down the coast as well as the Cinder Path, the old railway line track that ran between Scarborough and Whitby which can be seen from the rear garden. Lots of cyclists and walkers enjoy this route taking in the fantastic views and historic sites.

Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and Scarborough are just a short drive away, both very popular seaside resorts all year round and have excellent restaurants, bars and shops. Just a 10-minute drive and you can be walking round Peasholm Park or visiting the very popular Alpamare waterpark with its wave machines and splash pools. Scarborough is also home to the largest outdoor theatre in Europe where many international artists entertain tourists every year. The annual Scarborough Cricket Festival continues to be a real attraction to lovers of the sport. Oliver’s View is a great base to see what Yorkshire has to offer.

Explore Whitby, with its Gothic abbey, quaint cobbled old town and museums including one on a ship with an exhibition dedicated to the voyager, Captain Cook. Take advantage of your close proximity to the coast and spend a day at Whitby Beach, where you can try your hand at surfing or paddle boarding with the local surf school, sunbathe with your favourite book, or beachcomb the shores, looking out for fossils as well as fragments of precious jet. Jet jewellery is highly regarded here, and you can visit many jet jewellery shops as well as the historical workshop. Wildlife enthusiasts can enjoy a whale watching cruise, searching for seals, dolphins, and whales, which frequent the shores especially in September. Or travel further south along the coast to Bempton Cliffs where thousands of seabirds nest annually at the RSPB site.
The coastline here is fabulous with the neighbouring villages of Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick, Staithes and Sandsend all perfect for a scenic day out all year round. Some visitors love soaking up the sun, whilst others are enthralled on a stormy day watching the waves. Be sure to visit the North York National Park, where a plethora of scenic walks through wooded valleys await, taking the steam train from Whitby gives you a wonderful tour of some of the prettiest villages on the moors. Seaton Court has a fascinating past, the hall was named after the de Seton dynasty who resided from 1130 to 1307 and whose family made allegiances with and marriages to the Scottish Royal family. Passed down through generations, before slipping into disrepair. The present owner (who is descended from one of the previous residents Sir Francis Bigod) purchased the estate in 2002 and employed a team of specialist masons and craftsmen who have been lovingly rebuilding and restoring this incredible place of local heritage.
