Upstairs, you’ll be wowed by 360 degree views of the valley with each window framing a different part, immersing you in one of the most spectacular and beautiful limestone landscapes in the country, whilst snuggled up in front of the wood burner.
The open plan living space on the first floor features a brand new, fully fitted kitchen with Bosch appliances, as well as a dining area and living area. Here you will also find the piano used by previous owners to rehearse with the local choir. Outside, the garden has been beautifully landscaped to create two sitting areas at either side of the house so you can follow the sun all day. There is a garage, perfect for storing your bikes.
The pièce de résistance is the original well, which has been uncovered and fitted with lights so you can see 100 feet down to the bottom at night, a truly unique feature. The pretty village of Starbotton is in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with a cluster of stone built, chocolate box cottages surrounding the friendly local pub, a mere 2 minutes’ walk away. The Fox and Hounds is the heart of the local community, offering high quality, hearty dining, with well-kept local ales in a relaxed, dog friendly atmosphere. The area is ideally located for exploring by car, walking and cycling.
There are many walks right from your very doorstep including the Dales Way, accessed by a connecting footpath leading down to the River Wharfe, which is just 300 yards away. The area is also a mecca for cyclists with the Tour De Yorkshire route having run through locally. Other country pursuits such as fishing, rock climbing and even pony trekking are all available nearby. The popular town of Grassington is just a 15-minute drive away and plays host to events all year round including a Summer Arts Festival with famed singers, presenters, poets and authors, and a winter Dickensian Festival to capture the spirit of Christmas.

Syke Cottage, dating back to the 1700s, is furnished to a high standard and generously equipped with everything you will need for a relaxing holiday. The cottage retains its original charm while offering a high level of comfort with a modern country style.
The fully-equipped kitchen with an adjoining dining area provides thoughtful extras such as air fryer, slow cooker, coffee machine and juicer. The attractive lounge offers the perfect place to relax after a day exploring the Dales. The Ercol sofas invite you to unwind in front of the wood burner or indulge in a boxset or film on the large Smart TV with Netflix. The cottage has the added benefit of a cosy snug with a TV, Netflix, Wii games console and a great supply of board games. The stunning garden room with a vaulted ceiling offers a second dining area overlooking the patio. Here you will also find the washing machine, an additional fridge/freezer, a microwave, and room for bike storage. An additional shower room and toilet adjoin. Bainbridge is a central base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales. For walkers and cyclists, there are routes leading off from Bainbridge in all directions. Semerwater, perfect for picnicking, swimming and boating, is only 2 miles away and easily reached by foot or by car. Head over to the famous Buttertubs and pass into Swaledale for yet more breath-taking scenery. Heading in the opposite direction towards the market town of Leyburn you will pass through a multitude of picture postcard villages and historic attractions. Aysgarth Falls, Bolton Castle, The Forbidden Corner and a ride on the Wensleydale steam railway (to name but a few) all make for great days out. Local amenities including a shop, pub and café are all within a few minutes’ walk of Syke Cottage.

Take advantage of your close proximity to the coast and spend a day at Whitby Beach, where you can try your hand at surfing or paddle boarding with the local surf school, sunbathe with your favourite book, or beachcomb the shores, looking out for fossils as well as fragments of precious jet. Jet jewellery is highly regarded here, and you can visit many jet jewellery shops as well as the historical workshop. Wildlife enthusiasts can enjoy a whale watching cruise, searching for seals, dolphins, and whales, which frequent the shores especially in September. Or travel further south along the coast to Bempton Cliffs where thousands of seabirds nest annually at the RSPB site.
The coastline here is fabulous with the neighbouring villages of Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick, Staithes and Sandsend all perfect for a scenic day out all year round. Some visitors love soaking up the sun, whilst others are enthralled on a stormy day watching the waves. Be sure to visit the North York National Park, where a plethora of scenic walks through wooded valleys await, taking the steam train from Whitby gives you a wonderful tour of some of the prettiest villages on the moors.
