Created from old farm buildings and retaining original features, including exposed brickwork and beams, these single-storey holiday cottages (refs 26225 and 29452) enjoy views over open countryside. Privately situated in the grounds of the owners’ home, each one has its own south facing patio where visitors can relax and watch the pet sheep, hens and Shetland ponies as they graze in the adjoining paddock in this peaceful village close to the River Derwent. The historic city of York, famous for its cobbled streets, magnificent minster, museums, restaurants and traditional inns, is easily accessible with the Grimston park and ride just a 10 minute drive away. The location is perfect for walkers of all abilities, with both hill and riverside walks nearby. Set within the Yorkshire Dales National Park at the foot of Buckden Pike, you will have plenty to explore before kicking back in the comfort of Coach House Cottage. Kettlewell offers several shops and pubs to choose from. The hotspot of Grassington is just 10 miles away, with its summer arts festival and Dickensian celebrations, not to mention a plethora of shops, pubs and tea rooms. Hawes, famous for its Wensleydale cheese, is just 12 miles away. The historic market town of Skipton, with its Norman castle at the head of the quaint, cobbled high street, is also within a half hour’s drive. Shop, pub and restaurant 100 yards.

Rievaulx Abbey, Castle Howard, Flamingo Land, Eden Camp and the North York Moors Steam Railway at Pickering are all within 10 miles whilst the the medieval city of York’s wealth of attractions – including York Minster, the Jorvik Viking Centre, Railway Museum and great shopping – are only 25 miles distant. Scarborough’s sandy beaches, famous theatre and seaside activities are a 40-minute drive away, and fishing, golf and walking are all enjoyed locally. The quaint village of West Burton in which these cottages are situated, nestles in the Walden Valley among the beautiful Wensleydale countryside, and is well known as one of the loveliest villages in the Dales with a large village green, market cross, Burton Force waterfall and no through traffic; it has a truly traditional feel with a shop and a pub serving food. An excellent base for touring throughout the Yorkshire Dales, with the bustling market towns of Hawes and Leyburn only 10 miles. Bolton Castle, the Black Sheep Brewery and The Wensleydale Creamery are all within easy reach. For the walker, there is easy access from the village onto open moors and fells.
