It fronts onto the cobbled Church Street, which leads to the famous 199 steps ascending to Whitby Abbey. The entrance to this terraced cottage is through Arguments Yard, and to the rear of the cottage there is a private patio with garden furniture, where you can sit in complete privacy. You will have direct access to the harbour from the property, and Tate Hill beach is only 1-minute away. The property has a free car parking space for one car for the full duration of the stay, the space is approximately a 15-minute walk away, but you can also stop outside the cottage when unloading the car.
    The yard is one of the most famous and most photographed in the town and has always been popular with artists. The yard forms part of the old medieval settlement of Whitby. These yards, alleyways and ‘ghauts’, as they are known locally, have hardly changed since the Middle Ages, and these hidden places tucked away on both sides of town are where you can still meet old Whitby.
    Whitby is a very popular resort with lots of wonderful events and festivals throughout the year such as the bi-annual Goth Weekender, Folk Festival, Regatta and many different music events. With everything that’s going on there is still plenty of opportunity to relax and enjoy the 2 miles of golden sands, and some amazing scenery all along the North Yorkshire Heritage Coast. With stunning views, hidden coves and bays to explore, there is something for everyone. Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes are just two examples of picture perfect seaside villages in the area, with links to the explorer Captain Cook. The Cleveland Way and the Cinder Track are both fantastic walking routes that can be joined in Whitby, or head inland to the North York Moors National Park where there are thousands of miles of walking routes.
    Whitby has a golden sandy beach as well as a marina where you can charter your own boat or join a trip out to sea to do a spot of whale watching. The traditional seaside resorts of Scarborough and Bridlington are just down the coast, and the medieval walled city of York, with its Viking centre and bustling back streets, is just a short drive away.
