The waterparks around Kielder Water offer a hop on/off ferry, Bird of Prey Centre, cafés, pub, picnic areas and water sports of all types. Day trips from Kielder Kip Cottage make a nice change, and Alnwick Castle, 50 miles, is famed for its scenes in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey.
The very historic Hadrian’s Wall is a step back to the Roman times and plenty of museums and history await. The small town of Bellingham is 18 miles away, and has several shops, pubs and cafés.
