A visit to Southwold wouldn’t be complete without heading off to the pier; dating back to the 1900’s, this was originally built as a landing point for the steamships which use to stop off at the town. You can also visit the lighthouse - this is a distinctive landmark at the centre of the town and has been guiding vessels into the historical harbour since the late 1800’s. A great location for nature lovers and twitchers, just a 25-minute drive to RSPB Minsmere where you can discover some of the UK’s rarest wildlife and enjoy family-friendly activities.

Thetford Forest is a short drive away and encompasses some 47,000 acres of forestry. Here you’ll find great walks, cycle routes and nature trails to explore. It is also home to High Lodge and Go Ape. Take the time to visit the picturesque town of Bury St Edmunds with its famous abbey and great places to eat, drink and shop. The town also hosts a popular Christmas market in early December. National Trust properties nearby include Ickworth Park, Oxburgh Hall and Anglesey Abbey and Gardens. Newmarket is perfect for an exciting day at the races. Fallow cottage and roe cottage have a wood burner, and all have their own private courtyard garden with garden furniture for you to relax in after a day of adventure.
Set in the heart of Hadleigh just opposite one of England’s oldest Cricket pitch, the town itself offers a unique high street packed with quirky boutique shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants and is surrounded by beautiful Suffolk countryside, all just waiting to be explored. There are some great walks starting almost from the doorstep including one along the picturesque River Brett and another which takes you along the old railway line to Raydon.
Venture just a little further and you will find a wealth of attractions nearby. Visit Lavenham, considered to be Britain’s best preserved medieval village and used in the filming of ‘Harry Potter’. This picturesque town is packed with galleries and lots of unique places to shop, eat and drink. Also seen on TV, ‘Jimmy’s Farm’ and is within easy reach, as are Flatford and Kersey Mills and Dedham Vale.
For a change of pace, head to Ipswich Marina for a spot of lunch or visit the glorious Suffolk coastline, under an hour away. 6 Coastal Cottage is a delightful old coastguards cottage settled in the coastal town of Kessingland, in the picturesque county of Suffolk.

The Nest is a beautiful, self-contained one-bedroom cottage situated next to the main farmhouse. It can sleep up to three adults or two adults with two children. It’s the perfect location for those wishing to explore the local area and is ideal for those interested in walking and wildlife. The living room is a former conservatory with a cosy roof and has underfloor heating to ensure comfort all year round. The living room has a double sofa bed, TV and dining table. You’ll also find a selection of games and toys to keep you entertained, and books and maps to help you whilst exploring the area. The small but perfectly formed kitchen has everything you need, with a full oven, gas hob, microwave and fridge. You’ll find some of the basics such as cooking oil, salt, pepper etc already in the cupboards. The bedroom features a super kingsize bed, reading lights, built-in wardrobes with a full-length mirror and French doors opening up onto the private garden. It’s a bright and airy room, but once you’ve drawn the curtains and dimmed the lights it’s the ideal place to cosy up with a good book. Just off the bedroom is a large shower room, with a walk-in shower, twin vanity units and toilet. The garden has a seating area, with gas BBQ and a chimnea with views out across the farm fields allowing you to listen to the birdsong.
We’ve made sure you don’t need to pack too heavily, with games, toys for the kids, DVDs, books, picnic blanket, flask, Tupperware, children’s cups, plates and cutlery all provided. We can even lend camping chairs, beach shelters and buckets and spades if needed. Don’t worry we haven’t forgotten your four-legged friend, there’s bowls, blankets, poo bags and a little treat ready for their arrival too.

One (two smaller dogs considered), well-behaved dog is permitted during your stay. Dogs must be kept under control at all times and be cleaned up after.
