The Nest is a beautiful, self-contained one-bedroom cottage situated next to the main farmhouse. It can sleep up to three adults or two adults with two children. It’s the perfect location for those wishing to explore the local area and is ideal for those interested in walking and wildlife. The living room is a former conservatory with a cosy roof and has underfloor heating to ensure comfort all year round. The living room has a double sofa bed, TV and dining table. You’ll also find a selection of games and toys to keep you entertained, and books and maps to help you whilst exploring the area. The small but perfectly formed kitchen has everything you need, with a full oven, gas hob, microwave and fridge. You’ll find some of the basics such as cooking oil, salt, pepper etc already in the cupboards. The bedroom features a super kingsize bed, reading lights, built-in wardrobes with a full-length mirror and French doors opening up onto the private garden. It’s a bright and airy room, but once you’ve drawn the curtains and dimmed the lights it’s the ideal place to cosy up with a good book. Just off the bedroom is a large shower room, with a walk-in shower, twin vanity units and toilet. The garden has a seating area, with gas BBQ and a chimnea with views out across the farm fields allowing you to listen to the birdsong.
We’ve made sure you don’t need to pack too heavily, with games, toys for the kids, DVDs, books, picnic blanket, flask, Tupperware, children’s cups, plates and cutlery all provided. We can even lend camping chairs, beach shelters and buckets and spades if needed. Don’t worry we haven’t forgotten your four-legged friend, there’s bowls, blankets, poo bags and a little treat ready for their arrival too.

Families should make time for a trip to Pleasurewood Hills, the only theme park in East Anglia, and those looking for a quieter time will find the Norfolk Broads National Park a great choice, the southern gateway of which lies in Oulton Broad, just a short drive away. Shoppers should head to the medieval city of Norwich, which was voted one of the top ten shopping locations in the UK. Here you will also find a splendid Norman castle and a host of museums and galleries, all of which make this city a great day out, reached either by car or the nearby railway line.
Add in lots of great walks, cycle routes and wildlife watching opportunities and you will see why this area remains so popular. After a day out exploring and having worked up a great appetite, you will be delighted to find that there are not only lots of great places to eat close to Kirkley Cliff, but lots of delivery options for when you are too tired to cook or venture out. The village of Gillingham sits on the Norfolk and Suffolk border, located in the Broads National Park where the River Waveney runs through. Beccles town offers independent boutiques and chain shops, a great collection of eateries including fine dining and many cafés serving home made cakes and savouries. The weekly market is excellent for all things local should you wish to enjoy a night of cooking and dining in. The Broads National Park is very popular, best enjoyed on the waterways with kayaks, canoes and day boat motor launches for a more leisurely pace. Alternatively sit back and enjoy a guided boat tour, where you can just soak up the incredible national park. Don’t forget to enjoy a swim at the local Lido open air heated swimming pool, popular with many local swimmers. Norwich (18 miles) a bustling cathedral city with culture, heritage, excellent shopping and entertainment for all. Watch the weekly speed boat racing (in season) on Oulton Broad, 9 miles. Drive a little further and you will step back in time in Lavenham where you can visit the house used in Harry Potter’s film which was Harry’s parents’ house in ‘Godric’s Hollow’, also considered to be one of Britain’s best preserved medieval villages, where over 300 buildings are listed as being of architectural and historic interest. Wandering along narrow lanes, past timber-framed houses and the stunning Guildhall, you’ll find antique shops, galleries and cafés. Newmarket, just 8 miles to the west, is home to the National Horse Racing Museum and Links Golf Club, with leading supermarkets and a variety of traditional eateries to fuel your day.
Jump onto the A14 and head to the west to the spectacular city of Cambridge, famed for its rich cultural and academic heritage, University Colleges, an impressive collection of over 18 museums and galleries, the Fitzwilliam Museum, home to a large collection of art and artefacts, the renowned Cambridge University Botanic Garden, and excellent shopping, meaning that Cambridge has something for everyone. Meander through the city and take in the beauty of the university colleges and gleaming spires or lie back and enjoy a relaxing punt along the river. The Suffolk coast and picturesque seaside towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh are within easy reach, if a day on the beach is on your wish list. Duxford air Museum is approximately 25 minutes’ drive. Other places of interest to visit are the nearby Bressingham Steam Museum, and Planet Laser in Bury St Edmunds (which also hosts a Christmas market). There are excellent restaurants in the village of Culford, and private dining can be booked at the local restaurant if required. Clay pigeon shooting and horse riding can be booked in the village, whilst paint balling, Go Ape and the Dad’s Army Museum are attractions at Thetford.
