Ymwlch Barns are a charming complex of barn conversions situated in a quiet hamlet offering beautiful mountain views and country walks. The Dutch barns (UK12872 and UK12873) are superb, semi-detached barn conversions each offering modern open plan living with a luxurious touch and lovely private hot tubs in enclosed courtyards (towels not provided). They each have a kingsize bedroom and a twin room, making them ideal for small families or couples. Kris Kin (ref OXU) is a charming detached barn conversion with oak beams, wooden floor, well-equipped kitchen and an en-suite bathroom. This property also has its own hot tub.

The surroundings are alive with snowdrops in winter and bluebells in spring. The complex is a short drive away from the beach and castle at Criccieth, and a lovely selection of restaurants, cafes, shops and pubs. Situated on the beautiful Lleyn Peninsula, the area is perfect for walking and cycling with an abundance of lovely footpaths and peaceful country lanes. Just under 5 miles away is the lovely town of Porthmadog, with its pretty harbour and the start of fabulous narrow gauge steam train rides on the world famous Ffestiniog railway, which takes you deep into the heart of the magnificent Snowdonia National Park. The detached holiday property is just a short walk to Penrhyn station on the world famous Ffestiniog narrow gauge railway where you can hop on board the steam train down to the delightful harbour town of Porthmadog, or in the other direction on the spectacular journey to the former slate quarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, now home to Zip World (the world’s largest zip wire zone) and Bounce Below, where the whole family can have fun on the underground trampoline nets! This property is also close to the quirky Italianate village of Portmeirion (where the 1960s TV show ’The Prisoner’ was filmed) built by Sir Clough Williams Ellis. The family-run pony trekking and equestrian centre on-site is just on the north side of the farm, away from our holiday cottages with menage Hire (arena), riders or complete beginners are catered for. The property is accessed by crossing some uneven ground and via a small footbridge over a stream. Guests have sole use of the ½-acre fenced garden with stream running through, there is a camp fire site available for outdoor cooking or camp fires, and guests are also welcome to explore Erw Goed’s 30 acres of gardens and unspoilt woodland and hill with spectacular views over the estuary. You can also meet the livestock including ducks, chickens, bees and sometimes pigs. The Mawddach Trail is easily accessible and the market town of Dolgellau is 6 miles away. Walking, pony trekking, fishing and golf are available locally. Coed-y-Brenin, 10 miles, is a renowned mountain biking centre. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

This lovely detached holiday property is in a rural location, on the Llŷn Peninsula, and a private gate from the garden takes you down to the beautiful little Porth Colmon harbour and beach, where lobster and crab can be bought in season and occasional visitors include dolphins and seals. With the Llŷn Coastal Path just along the lane, it’s a great place for walkers. The property itself is spacious and boasts a large conservatory with views over fields to the sea, with bay windows replaced in 2021.
