The Welsh highland narrow gauge railway passes close by and makes for a memorable trip into the mountains of Snowdonia, an enormous range of exciting activities and attractions lie close by including Zip World, the longest zip wire in the world. Walking, golf and horse riding can all be enjoyed nearby.

This is an excellent location for walking and touring with the dramatic splendour of Snowdon and the lovely countryside of Anglesey and the Lleyn peninsula within a short drive. Llanberris, the village at the foot of Snowdon, is five miles away with the Snowdon mountain railway and the Welsh Slate Museum, a fascinating glimpse into the slate industry. For the more adventurous, north Wales’ Zip World velocity, the longest, fastest zip wire in the northern hemisphere is also easily accessible. Fishing is also available nearby.

The former slate quarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog is rich in heritage, with the famous Ffestiniog Steam Railway providing a spectacular journey down to the coast at Porthmadog. There are several fantastic attractions, including the Stiniog downhill bike trails, Bounce Below, where you can trampoline underground in a slate cavern, and Zip World Titan, where you can go down ziplines. Black Rock Sands and the Italianate village of Portmeirion are within easy reach; whilst in the other direction are Betws-y-Coed and the Conwy Valley. Beach 9 miles. Commanding spectacular uninterrupted sea views in a truly stunning location on the Llyn Peninsula, this converted barn sits at the end of a private track in gorgeous rural tranquillity yet within easy reach of a host of family attractions. Set within the grounds of the owners’ home, its breathtaking setting affords wonderful walking, bird watching and even dolphin spotting from the doorstep, with the coastal path winding its way down from the holiday cottage to a secluded beach (about 10 minutes’ walk). Ten pin bowling, go karting, golf, fishing and pony trekking are all enjoyed nearby and Caernarfon Castle and the Snowdonia National Park are within easy reach. Set on a working farm, this converted stable is close to Pwllheli and Criccieth. Ideally situated for exploring the Lleyn Peninsula and a 3 mile walk way and cycle path is across the road. It is cosy with modern conveniences and access to the beach (a few minutes’ walk over railway via public crossing). Nearby, are fishing, horse riding along the beach, golf and you can explore the hidden coves. The owner also provides grazing and a field for up to four horses at their property, by prior arrangement and additional cost. Stabling is also available. In a rural location and gloriously positioned on the northern coast of the Llyn Peninsula, and enjoying a stunning outlook over the dramatic sea and shoreline, this detached, single storey holiday property boasts its own blissful hot tub, and offers very comfortable and spacious holiday accommodation. Refurbished with new windows and doors in 2021, it sits just a short stroll from the beautiful little Porth Colmon harbour and beach, where you can enjoy an occasional visit from the dolphins and seals. Small boats can be launched from the slipway which belongs to the owner and in season, freshly caught lobsters and crabs can be purchased from the local fisherman. A scenic cliff top walk takes you to the uncrowded golden sands of Traeth Penllech, a relatively unknown part of the peninsula. The village of Aberdaron is six miles away and lively Pwllheli with its shops, pubs and restaurants is 11 miles.

Fast becoming an adrenaline junkie’s paradise, Blaenau Ffestinog offers fabulous activities such as Bounce Below where you can bounce on trampoline nets deep underground in an old slate cavern the size of St Paul’s Cathedral, Zipworld Titan where you can try out Europe’s largest zip wire zone, and the Stiniog Downhill Bike Trails – bring your own mountain bike! Surrounded by the Snowdonia National Park, there are some lovely walks from the door, with pretty Betws-y-Coed and Swallow Falls, and the peaceful Llyn Peninsula, both a short car journey away. Porthmadog is the departure point for wonderful steam train journeys on the world famous Ffestiniog Railway as it winds its spectacular way through superb scenery up into the Snowdonia Mountains. The pretty Italianate village of Portmeirion, location of the cult TV series ‘The Prisoner’ is also close by. Criccieth is a pretty village watched over by a medieval castle, and boasts a lovely beach and a good selection of restaurants and shops.
