Ryndle Corner is a beautiful, detached house overlooking Peasholm Park, one of the finest locations in Scarborough and voted one of the best parks in the UK. The park has stunning gardens and wildlife, and lots of leisurely walks can be taken here. The park is also home to the world famous Naval Warfare, a unique miniature sea battle that is re-enacted. There are plenty of rowing boats and pedaloes that you can explore the lake on or if you prefer a more leisurely ride there’s the swan launch motor boat. During the summer season there are regular concerts in the park. The park also boasts an 18-hole mini golf course so there’s plenty to do right on your doorstep.
As well as Peasholm Park you are close to the cricket ground where the famous summer festival gives you the opportunity to see county cricket at its best. Ryndle Corner is a short stroll from the North Bay’s long sandy beach, which makes it a great location for a family holiday. Just down the hill is the Open Air Theatre, the largest open air amphitheatre in Europe where, during the summer season, you can enjoy concerts from world renowned artists. The Alpamare waterpark, offering water slides and a wave machine, is only a 10-minute stroll away. The location of Ryndle Corner means there really is something for everyone right on the doorstep!
The long wide sandy beach has won awards for cleanliness making it perfect for families. For the more adventurous, surfing lessons can be booked from the surf shop just down the hill. Scarborough boasts two beaches with a long, flat promenade where you can enjoy early evening strolls. The castle stands proud on the hillside separating the two bays. The South Bay is more vibrant with the amusements and shops, and the North Bay is the quieter, more peaceful area. For those of you who like evening entertainment, the Stephen Joseph Theatre is close by. Famous for the world premieres of almost all of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays, the theatre is well worth a visit. There are plenty of good bars and restaurants all within walking distance. Scarborough is a great base to see what the east coast has to offer.
Ryndle Corner is the perfect base for walkers too, being situated only a few miles from the famous North York Moors National Park, or you can walk part of the Cleveland Way along the rugged coast. Just a short drive and you can visit Whitby, Flamborough, Bridlington and the famous RSPB cliffs at Bempton where you can see the puffins and gannets in their natural habitat. The medieval city of York is only an hour away where you can visit the famous Minster or the railway museum.
The house is very large and spacious with seven bedrooms, two of which are en-suite, and the dining room has two tables to accommodate everyone. There’s plenty of space for two or three families to share and still have privacy in this homely property. This lovely three bedroom apartment is in a great location, with views over the estuary and towards the abbey, just a pleasant stroll away from the centre of Whitby. Picturesk is a first floor apartment where you can spend many an hour sat at the window watching the boats go by, or seeing the children learn to canoe. The communal grounds have some lovely sitting-out areas, as well as a small playground for the little ones. It’s not far to walk into the centre along the side of the estuary, you’ll find that you hardly need the car as it’s a perfect spot to get to all the amenities and see the sights of Whitby.
Walk up the famous Whitby Abbey, with its 199 steps to get to the top. You will see many children counting them as they take each step. The cobbled streets are full of little shops, especially the Whitby Jet jewellery shops. This black gemstone became very popular when Queen Victoria wore it when mourning for her husband. The black jewellery also attracts goths when they hold their famous weekend in Whitby.
The North Yorkshire Moors are on the doorstep, and the Cleveland Way passes through Whitby, so this is a great base for ramblers or hardened walkers. There’s so much to see and do, but if you do want to step outside of Whitby, why not go down the coast to Scarborough, or inland to the town of Pickering, famous for its steam railway. For all ages, Whitby is the perfect holiday spot.

Scarborough is one of the most popular seaside resorts in Britain with lots of attractions for everyone. The North and South Bay are very different yet each has its own charm and wonderful large sandy beaches. Families love the traditional feel of Scarborough with plenty for the children to do from donkey rides, building sandcastles, amusements, mini golf and the Sea Life Centre. Don’t forget Peasholm Park where you can hire pedalos and rowing boats to go around the lakes. They also do a miniature re-enactment of a sea battle which has entertained families for many years.
For the adults there are some excellent restaurants within walking distance of the properties, and there’s the Stephen Joseph Theatre, home to most of Sir Alan Aykbourn’s world premiere plays. The largest open air theatre in Europe is here in Scarborough with fantastic international acts throughout the summer. Scarborough Spa provides excellent entertainment throughout the year and the Spa Orchestra perform on the scenic sun terrace in the summer. Scarborough forms part of the Cleveland Way so for those walkers amongst you there are some fantastic walks right on your doorstep. The smaller resorts of Filey and Flamborough Head are just down the coast as well as the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton where you will find puffins in their natural habitat. Heading north there’s Whitby with its busy working harbour and cobbled streets full of charm and character, it’s definitely worth a visit. Yorkshire is famous for its stately homes and Castle Howard, Sledmere House, Burton Agnes Hall and Sewerby Hall are all within a short distance. Beach 400 yards. The area is a haven for keen walkers, cyclists and dog owners with numerous pathways and cycle tracks located right on your doorstep, including the famous 110 mile Cleveland Way that can be accessed literally yards away. It is conveniently positioned for visiting the delightful coastal resorts of Runswick Bay, just one mile away, and Sandsend and Whitby, where you can enjoy beautiful stretches of golden beaches. The quaint village of Sandsend is only four miles away and is an ideal place for all the family with its award-winning, wide sweeping beaches, rock pools and dramatic cliffs. This part of the coastline is known locally as the Dinosaur Coast because of the many fossils found here. Children will enjoy damming the little beck where it crosses the beach to form a freshwater lagoon which is great for paddling and boating. A lovely, scenic six mile walk along the Cleveland Way will bring you into the historic port of Whitby where you will find an abundance of activities for adults and children to enjoy. There is a large selection of pubs, quaint antique and gift shops, the famous fish and chip shops and three miles of golden sandy beach and amusements. You can take a trip on one of the fishing boats that will take you out and around the harbour where you can appreciate the views of St Mary’s Church and the stunning abbey that towers on the east side of the town. Whitby has many events going on all year round which are extremely popular including Folk Week, music weekends including sixties and soul weekends and also Goth Weekends mainly because of Whitby’s connection with Dracula.

This spacious semi-detached cottage is situated on the edge of the hamlet of Beck Hole, close to the village of Goathland, and is blessed with fabulous views. Ivy Cottage is situated in Beck Hole, one of Yorkshire’s best kept secrets, and just outside the village of Goathland. This stunning cottage is just a short walk from one of the smallest pubs in the UK, known for its traditional ales and warm friendly welcome. Stunning valleys and sweeping hillside views can be enjoyed from the idyllic location. Cycle tracks, bridle paths and walkways abound from the doorstep with quaint little villages popping up when you least expect it.
Nearby Whitby is increasingly popular with holiday makers all year round as it has something to offer all the family, including 3 miles of golden beach, donkey rides and ice creams. Other things to do include rock pooling, climbing the 199 steps to the Gothic Whitby Abbey, which was made famous by Bram Stoker’s Dracula, or taking a stroll along the cobbled streets and taking in some of the older parts of town with its Jet Stone boutiques. Whitby has an up and coming foody scene too, with everything from Michelin star restaurants to award-winning fish and chips, tea rooms and family friendly pubs and bars, many offering live entertainment. There is also the golf course and many boats offering tourist trips out to sea in search of seals, dolphins and even whales in the right season.
The Yorkshire Heritage Coast is dotted with hidden gems such as Staithes and Runswick Bay to the north, and Robin Hood’s Bay to the south. Robin Hood’s Bay can be reached along the Cinder Track walk and cycle way, and the Cleveland Way also makes its way along the tops of cliffs and into the some of the bays, offering superb photo opportunities along its path. Take a steam train ride from Whitby right into Heartbeat Country and Goathland. The North York Moors National Park is right on your doorstep, with its 100s of walking routes which take in the Falling Foss Waterfall and The Moors National Park Centre. There are pushchair and wheelchair friendly woodland and riverside trails around the grounds. The traditional seaside town of Scarborough is just down the coast with its two long sandy bays, whilst the medieval walled town of York is also within driving distance. Beach 9 miles. Pheasant Lodge, refurbished in 2018 is a single-storey, detached lodge set at the bottom of a steep hill in a quiet part of the picturesque fishing village of Staithes in the North York Moors National Park. With a small enclosed courtyard and an open-plan living space as well as private parking, Pheasant Lodge is the perfect base in which to relax after a day of exploring this fantastic coastal area. Staithes Beck runs alongside the site with its own waterfall and wildlife.

This charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is considered something of an artist’s dream, and even has its own popular Art and Heritage Festival along with regular workshops and artisan displays. The pretty houses and cottages dotted around the old harbour are surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides, and a sheltered sandy beach is set amongst the rocky coastline. Steeped in history, Captain Cook served his apprenticeship in Staithes, and there are many old buildings to admire and a museum to take you back in time.
Modern day Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. Staithes is still home to a RNLI lifeboat station, and a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) land their catch of fish, crab and lobster. There are also boat trips for birdwatching, fishing and whale watching available. An ’Illusion Trail’ guides visitors around the network of backstreets and alleyways. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliff to the seashore. The Cleveland Way stretches its way along this dramatic coastline and is a firm favourite with walkers as it drops into many hidden bays and coves such as Robin Hood’s Bay and Saltburn-by-the-Sea.
The wonderful town of Whitby is just 10 miles away with its regular events and festivals including the Goth Weekend, a regatta and regular live music events to complement its many fabulous restaurants and bars, tea rooms and delis. Try climbing the 199 steps up to the abbey and St Mary’s Church from where you can take in the breathtaking views down into the town and out to sea.

Head inland to enjoy a myriad of walking and cycling routes that the National Park has to offer, enjoy a warm welcome in one of the many village inns dotted across the moors, or take it easy on board a steam train journey into the heart of this beautiful part of the world. Surf enthusiasts will enjoy Saltburn-by-the-Sea with its numerous surf schools and there are plenty of courses for the golfers. Alternatively, just sit back and relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity around Pheasant Lodge. Beach ½ mile. Shop 500 yards, pub and restaurant 700 yards.

Scalby is a picturesque and peaceful village towards the outskirts of Scarborough, but has everything you could need during your stay, including great places to eat, a general store and there’s even a tennis club and a golf course around the corner. Scalby Mills is just down road and you can enjoy a lovely walk along the sea front from the Sea Life Centre, right onto the Scarborough’s North Bay with Peasholm Park, The Open Air Theatre with regular concerts by international stars throughout the summer and there is also a waterpark.
There is a wonderful seaside walk around to Scarborough’s South Bay, which is more bright lights, penny arcades and ice cream shops, as well as a long beach, donkey rides and all you would expect from a traditional seaside resort. Head inland from the coast and you’ll find plenty to see and do in and around the North York Moors National Park and the Forge Valley Woods National Nature Reserve. Dalby Forest, 8 miles away, is a popular destination for walkers, cyclists, outdoor adventures and also concerts. There are plenty of villages and towns such as Pickering, Malton, Helmsley and just 18 miles further up the coast is the traditional seaside town of Whitby. Just over 40 miles away the walled city of York is a great place to spend a day and enjoy all the attractions it has to offer. Beach 2 miles. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

With over 8,000 acres of woodland with wonderful walks and nature trails, this is an outdoor enthusiasts paradise. The cottage makes a great base from which to visit the North York Moors National Park, the east coast, Yorkshire Wolds and the many wonderful market towns that Yorkshire is famous for. Oakridge is a stunning example of 1800s architecture with a luxurious, contemporary interior. This semi-detached property offers a large sociable kitchen/dining room for family meals and playing games in front of the Aga before retiring to the living room. There is a large conservatory that looks out onto the lovely garden, and the utility room has a separate shower room which is great for rinsing off after a dip in the hot tub. The kitchen patio doors open out onto the hot tub and stone-built barbecue area, and there is a separate quieter area at the far end of the garden if you just want to relax and unwind. Hinderwell is a village with excellent local amenities including a good butchers, convenience store, a local pub and a tea room all just a short walk from your doorstep. This quaint village is just a mile from the picturesque fishing village of Runswick Bay, which boasts a sandy cove with opportunities for fossil hunting and rock pooling, yet right in the North York Moors National Park. Head north or south on the Cleveland Way and visit some of the amazing coastal gems such as Staithes, Robin Hood’s Bay, Sandsend or Saltburn.
The bustling town of Whitby is a short drive or bus ride away where you will find so much to see and do. There is a 3 mile stretch of golden sandy beach, traditional amusement arcades and regular boat trips out to sea in search of minke whales and dolphins. There are many bistros and restaurants ranging from award-winning fish and chips to fine dining as well as tea rooms, coffee shops and pubs with live music. If you’re feeling energetic why not attempt the 199 steps up to the abbey that towers over Whitby.
You can drive inland to enjoy the natural beauty and some amazing heritage sites such as abbeys and monasteries within the National Park or catch a steam train as it snakes through the lush countryside to destinations such as Goathland and Pickering. There is a huge diversity of things to do in the area from surfing to golfing, and there is an abundance of walking and cycling tracks. There is an abundance of traditional pubs with live music that accept pets, coffee shops and tea rooms, and an increasingly popular food scene with gastro pubs and bistros complementing award winning fish and chip shops. There are plenty of dog friendly beach areas to explore where you can enjoy rock pooling and fossil hunting. Keep an eye on the events calendar as there is always something happening in Whitby from the famous Goth weekends, a regatta, music festivals and a folk week being highlights of a year round calendar. Just south of Staintondale you will find the traditional seaside resort of Scarborough with its busy amusement arcades, a waterpark and sandy beaches. The open air theatre hosts live international acts throughout the summer, and no trip to Scarborough is complete without a stroll around Peasholm Park and the world-famous Peasholm Park Naval Warfare which takes place throughout the summer.
With the North York Moors National Park right on your doorstep there are many walks and cycle routes to explore, or just enjoy a drive through some of the most stunning scenery. There is so much to see nearby but you may fancy a trip further afield to the vibrant walled city of York, an hour away, with its ancient minster and historic buildings.
