There is a local pub within a mile which serves real ale and good food. There is a well-stocked licensed general store, a post office which sells wonderful breads and preserves. Longnor has a fish and chip shop and a small, but delightful childrens park Woodside View is a haven for walkers and cyclists to explore the Tissington and High Peak cycle tracks.
Nearby is Buxton with its eventful Opera House, the Crescent Hotel which was recently opened boasting a 5-star spa and the pavilion Gardens, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both within easy reach, along with numerous National Trust Properties, Parks and Gardens, and delightful historic market towns and villages.

With a real ’wow’ factor, this award-winning, semi-detached rural barn conversion is in the 900 ft high hamlet of Uppertown in the village of Bonsall. It is a delightful and picturesque place for a relaxing getaway or a walking/cycling holiday in the Peak District National Park. Bailey’s Barn dates from the 1700s and has a welcoming and stylish feel, with a collection of art, an original mural and very high beamed ceilings. With eco-friendly instant heating, a cosy wood burner and well-furnished throughout, it offers an open plan living/kitchen/dining area, and a separate en-suite bedroom. There is a private off-road parking, bike store, a courtyard garden with feature lighting and an original ancient cheese press and a new second garden with beautiful views. Bailey’s Barn is well set up with a heated cupboard for drying coats and boots and an outside tap for washing wellies and dogs. The property is most welcoming for two dogs, with a special welcome gift and bedding.
Ideal for walkers, couples, and dog owners, it is within an easy stroll of fields, footpaths and The Limestone Way. Set on top of the highest hill for many miles around, the views are outstanding and the walking and cycling extremely rewarding. There are hundreds of miles of trails which start straight from the barn, it is an ideal opportunity to park-up, put the car keys away and just relax! Bailey’s Barn is a great base from which to explore the beauty and majesty of the region’s peaks, dales and rivers. With its own quirky traditions such as Bonsall Carnival, International Hen Racing Championships, ancient buildings and History Trails, Bonsall itself is a delightful find with two pubs and a lovely tearoom all within half a mile or so. The owners live on-site, and are on hand to help with any queries. Shop, café and pub 500 yards, restaurant 2 miles.

Grindon is home to a host of fantastic walking routes, it is a peaceful and tranquil rural location with local pubs around you in Butterton, Warslow and Waterfall. This property began as a stable, then became a workshop, until the owners wanted to do more with the space and open it up to visitors given the stunning area it is in.
The property has views of Thor’s Cave and is a fantastic base for your Peak District getaway. The owners really have thought of everything and had their guest’s comfort at the forefront of their minds when planning the renovations. It has an open plan kitchen and sitting area, the kitchen has all the amenities you should need such as fridge/freezer, electric hob, and a combi oven/microwave.
There is a table with two chairs conveniently placed with stunning high ceilings and feature light fittings. The living area has a comfortable sofa, with pops of colour complimenting the white finished walls, there is a Smart TV with access to Netflix, a comforting electric wood burner and a single sofa bed neatly tucked away is required.
The bedroom is quaint with shabby chic designs in mind and an en-suite shower room. Modern shutters have been placed in the main living area for privacy. There is a patio area next to the property where you may bump into the owner’s dog, Skye.

Cunliffe Cottage is a wonderfully bright and extremely spacious ground floor cottage, just 1 mile from the centre of Hathersage in the stunning Hope Valley. Beautifully refurbished in 2020, the cottage can be found at the end of a private drive on the friendly owner’s working farm and with the owners living adjacent. Benefitting from underfloor heating, three bedrooms, two of which are en-suite and a further bathroom, and stunning views over the surrounding countryside, it really does make for a luxury rural break. You’ll also find ample private parking and an enclosed patio with seating area to relax, take stock and simply enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Hathersage is a large, busy village in the heart of the Peak District National Park, and has associations with both Robin Hood and the Brontës. It is home to a good selection of shops, cafés and restaurants, as well as, quite uniquely, a seasonal outdoor heated swimming pool. Centrally located, the neighbouring village of Bamford is just over 1 mile away, Hope 3 miles and then the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton is just under 5 miles away. The fascinating plague village of Eyam is around a 15 minute drive; Bakewell and Chatsworth House are around 20 minutes away. Hathersage, Bamford and Hope all have their own train stations connecting you to the bright lights of Sheffield and Manchester. An area popular with lovers of the great outdoors, you’ll find ample walking, cycling and climbing available. Stanage and Burbage Edge are both nearby and reward you with superb views of the Dark Peak moorlands. Ultimately whether you’re looking to explore this wonderful part of the Peak District by foot or by car, or simply escape from a hectic life, Cunliffe Cottage really does make a wonderful base. Abbots Abode is a characteristic cottage sleeping up to six guests in two bedrooms. On the ground floor is a spacious, fully-equipped kitchen with farmhouse dining table to seat all guests, and a comfortable living room with ample seating, electric wood burner and TV. On the first floor is a family bathroom with shower over bath, a double bedroom and the second bedroom has four single beds - please note two of the single beds are up a short and secure ladder to the mezzanine, perfect for kids. There is a shared utility room on site with washing machine with hanging space to dry wet coats or boots. The property has a garden to the front with stunning views down the Peak District valley, it is a perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee while planning your day ahead.
The views from Monks Retreat are beautiful, just a short walk away you have an extensive panorama or seven dales and can see far out into the distance to the high moorlands of Axe Edge and Kinder Scout. The Limestone Way trail runs directly through the farm so you can easily hope on to this for your first exciting Peak District walk, there are many in the area such as Monsal Trail, High Peak Trail and Tissington Trail to name a few. Local to the property is Buxton town which offers an array of restaurants, pubs and shops, as well as the famous opera house that has shows on regularly. Bakewell and Matlock are also nearby to explore, as well as Chatsworth House. After you have enjoyed a fun-filled day head down to the local pub to enjoy some local ales and home cooked food.

Swallows is an idyllic barn conversion within Brook Farm and offers cosy and comfortable accommodation to sleep two guests.
Enter into the kitchen where you will find all the equipment you should need during your stay, then through to the living room where there is a table and chairs, overlooking the grounds and views of Brook Farm, comfy sofa and TV. The double bedroom is light and comfortable with an en-suite bathroom. A bistro set sits outside the front door for you to enjoy whilst planning your exciting day ahead, whilst across the drive is a shared lawned garden that guests are free to enjoy.
Nestled in an excellent location for those who love the outdoors, guests will find an abundance of activities to enjoy nearby, including walking, cycling and watersports to name a few. The village of Middle Mayfield is set amidst stunning scenery and is only a short distance from the lovely market town of Ashbourne with its interesting streets and cobbled alleys. It also features antique shops and a fabulous choice of pubs and restaurants for all to enjoy.
At the southern end of the Peak District National Park you will be spoilt for things to fill your day. The nearby Dove and Manifold Valley provide a peaceful place to enjoy, whilst kayaking, sailing, windsurfing and cycling are all available at Carsington Water. For the thrill seekers amongst you, the renowned Alton Towers theme park is well worth a visit. Nearby you will discover many historic houses such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, and of course let’s not forget the market town of Bakewell, famous for its delicious pudding.
