Situated on a quiet lane the bright accommodation is beautifully presented throughout and provides an ideal base for couples and families. The spacious open plan living area is the hub of the cottage where everyone can gather together, it has comfortable seating and a wood burner to gather around, the contemporary well-equipped kitchen is where you can prepare a family meal and then sit round the dining table and plan the next day’s activities. A handy utility room, perfect for storing outdoor clothing leads to the cloak room, a master bedroom with kingsize bed and en-suite shower room. There are two further well-presented bedrooms with kingsize beds and a family bathroom on the first floor. Stepping out into the garden from the patio door in the living area you have an enclosed garden with garden furniture, an ideal spot for al-fresco dining or relaxing with a glass of wine.
If you are planning to eat out on your holiday Crieff has a varied selection of places to eat, an excellent deli and café selling local produce if you are planning to cook, craft shops, galleries and supermarkets. The town hosts regular events throughout the year including The Crieff Highland Games and the autumn Drovers Walking Festival and farmers market. Perthshire is well known for outdoor activities for all ages. More strenuous activities in the mountains such as Ben Vorlich, Ben Chonzie and Ben Lawers provide challenging walks. Nearby Loch Earn has water sports as well as mountain biking at nearby Comrie Croft. There are gentle strolls by the riverside along the banks of the River Earn and Turret from the front door and the local park has a children’s play area. Discover the history of Crieff with tales of the outlaws and the Jacobite rebellion, visit historic castles and monuments and if you have been following the TV series ’Outlander’, Drummond Castle gardens are within 5 miles, as are plenty of the locations used in the series, including Doune Castle and Hopetoun House all within driving distance. For a family day out Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre is a short drive with a children’s play area.

With spectacular views over Loch Tay to the surrounding Perthshire countryside, Chapelburn is in a superb location for a family or a group of friends who want to spend time together. Originally a chapel, the building dates back to the 1900s and is located next to the stream and pool where villagers were baptised. Chapelburn is a detached cottage which has undergone a unique and innovative conversion transforming it into a very spacious holiday home. It is the perfect property for guests wanting top quality accommodation, amenities, furnishings and linen in a fabulous location. The hot tub on the elevated decking outside adds to the experience, and taking a plunge in the waterfall fed plunge pool before getting toasty in the sauna will create holiday memories that last. To take full advantage of the south facing location, the decking with clear balustrades is along the full length of the front of the cottage and the ground floor rooms all have doors leading onto the decking with dining table for al fresco dining. The focal point of the cottage is the large open plan living area, furnished to a high standard and a great place for everyone to be together, with an island unit for casual dining or a dining table that can seat eighteen. There is a large TV, extensive DVD collection or bring your own movie collection to stream from your own devices on the 56" TV. Families will also enjoy the added bonus of a 7ft pool table. The well-equipped kitchen area boasts high quality fixtures and fittings and the second living room has a cosy double sided wood burner and comfortable sofas to relax and enjoy the spectacular views. There are also three well-presented bedrooms with patio doors leading onto the decking area. On the first floor, the two further super kingsize bedrooms benefit from balcony windows providing great views. Guests will find plenty of outdoor space with ample garden furniture and a footpath down to the loch side.
There is lots to do in the area and the conservation village of Kenmore at the east end of Loch Tay has a shingle beach and great views down the loch where guests can enjoy water sports, loch cruises or maybe a spot of fishing. There is a local shop, a post office, deli, the oldest inn in Scotland, restaurants and the Cranog, a reconstruction of an Iron Age stilt dwelling built over the water. Kenmore hosts a traditional ceremony each January to mark the opening of the salmon season on the loch. This area is well known for outdoor activities with lots of walking and climbing opportunities available. Fearnan is at one end of the Tay Forest Park and leads to the hamlet of Fortingall, home of the Fortingall Yew, the oldest tree in Europe. At the far end of the loch is Killin and the Falls of Dochart, and a superb drive from here to the Bridge of Balgie leads to the top of Glen Lyon, the longest in Scotland. Golf is widely available throughout the region as well as horse riding, fishing, quad biking, bird-watching and cycling. Watch the variety of wildlife on the doorstep - plenty of red squirrels, roe deer and woodland birds who love the peaceful environment, can be easily seen. The property really is a hideaway, accessed by a non-tarmac track and in winter, the track can get snowy and icy. However, the owners are on hand should you need assistance.
From the sloping 3-acre garden, interspersed with pathways, there are excellent walks through the mixed woodland onto heath and moor which opens up to breathtaking views, perfect for hill and dog walkers. In particular there is the Cateran Trail – a 100 mile circular walk through the Angus Glens and Perthshire. Winter sports at Glenshee Ski Slopes provide extensive skiing and snowboarding facilities, and are located just a short drive away. The popular towns of Pitlochry and Blairgowrie are just 13 miles equidistant with a great variety of shops, a theatre, fine dining restaurants, cafés and a distillery, all well worth a visit. Golfers can test their skills on over 30 courses in the area, and for the more adventurous there is mountain biking, fishing and horse riding. Throughout the year many events are held in the region including The Strathardle Gathering every August (Highland Games), The Etape Caledonia Cycling Event in May, The Perthshire Open Studios and The Blairgowrie Book Festival in October, which can be enjoyed whilst staying in this lovely property. Escape to this splendid detached barn conversion in rural Perthshire, which is just a short drive from Auchterarder with its 1½-mile long high street lined with a splendid selection of eateries and bespoke shopping. Woodend Farm Barn nestles close to the owner’s home on Woodend Farm, now a 10-acre smallholding where Highland cattle and sheep graze. It was built well before the railway line, which is spanned by two beautiful bridges on the edge of the farm garden.
For many years, the farm operated as an 80-acre pig farm, but in 1999, a 10-acre section was sold off and the new owners completely transformed it. The farmhouse remained, but many of the sheds were taken down to leave just a small section, which was turned into stables. When the current owners took over in 2009, the barn itself was initially used as a machinery store and then a lambing shed, the barn has now been converted into a holiday home with a private hot tub, where guests can relax in the evening with a glass of wine in hand.
