Welcome to Bodeinion – Located in the charming Welsh town of Llanfair Caereinion. Llanfair is in the heart of old Montgomeryshire’s Banwy valley and is one of the smallest towns in Powys. Built around The Church of St Mary, the town has many amenities, some including a great butcher, bakery, cafe, and three local pubs. Bodeinion has been lovingly updated and modernised, maintaining lots of its original features and is the ideal holiday cottage for couples, families or friends looking for a rural countryside break. You will be greeted by a cosy open fire in the living area as you enter the property providing a warm and cosy feel. A spacious kitchen which is well equipped with all the essentials, including a coffee machine. Beyond the kitchen to the right side of the cottage is a dining room, allowing seating for six guests, with an expandable table should you need it. Past the dining room is the first set of stairs leading up to a double bedroom, with ensuite, the bedroom revealing lots of natural light. The second set of stairs from the lounge, lead up to the second double bedroom and a third bedroom together with two single beds, both decorated to a good standard. Next door to the bedrooms is the main bathroom, featuring a window bath with shower. There is a small outside area, which can be accessed from the lounge. There are eating and picnic areas over the road by the river, less than 3 minutes walk from the cottage.
The Welshpool to Llanfair Light Railway operates from the eastern edge of town, a short walk over the Banwy Bridge from the hilly streets of the centre. Being directly opposite The River Banwy you’re in an idyllic place to wander around and enjoy the sound of the river rushing past, which leads to an Arboretum containing over 25 different species of British trees. Local places of interest include the famous medieval Powys Castle, known for its extensive formal gardens, terraces, parkland and lovely café, located near Welshpool. The renowned Dingle Garden two miles north of Welshpool, a picturesque garden with a lake and small waterfall. There are two nature reserves located in Welshpool, Llyn Coed y Dinas Nature Reserve and Severn Farm Pond Nature Reserve, where one can go and enjoy seeing many varieties of wildlife along the walkways, with both locations being free of charge to all. Further afield, discover the beautiful lake Vyrnwy, where you can admire the dam and straining tower built during the Victorian era as well as explore the surrounding waterfalls, woodlands and mountains, great for those adventurers. Or there is Portmeirion, an enchanting Italianate style village on the coast of North Wales, ideal for a day out, just over an hour’s drive away for something completely different to explore. Rhydleos Mill originally served Llansilin and the surrounding villages. Local farmers would bring their grains for milling and then take their produce home. As the industry changed, the demand for the mill ceased and a local farmer then used the building for sheep dipping. In more recent years the mill has been transformed into stylish holiday accommodation and still showcasing many original character features. The handsome farmhouse, that originally owned the mill, still sits opposite the property and the water that worked the mill borders the grounds.
Located in a peaceful and tranquil setting overlooking the local countryside and ideal for birdwatching, this well-proportioned, detached holiday property, provides quality accommodation for those families or groups wishing to explore the delights of Mid Wales, North Wales, Chester and the Shropshire borders. Local activities include horse riding, paintballing and go-karting. Guests can visit Park Hall, Powys Castle, Erddig, Chirk Castle, nearby Llangollen with white water rafting, horse drawn canal barges and steam railways, both at Llangollen and at Welshpool. Should you wish to get out and about, there are many different activities available such as wild swimming, bird watching, hiking, cycling, motocross tracks, tennis courts and Kayaking nearby. Also, guests can visit the historic city of Chester, which is an easy drive and, one of the seven wonders of Wales, Llanrhaedr waterfalls which is within a 15-minute drive. This lovely two bedroomed bungalow is sat in the grounds of Edderton Hall, near Welshpool, and is an ideal location for those wanting to explore the local countryside, with public footpaths going directly from the property so you can explore to your hearts content. Set in the grounds of Edderton Hall and close to the owners’ home, the property has fabulous views over the Severn Valley and Powis Castle.

Powis Castle View has everything that you will need and has an open-plan living space with a great view of the gardens and countryside. The master bedroom has a zip and link super kingsize bed and a TV, whilst the second bedroom has twin beds. There is a private hot tub which is situated on the decking, and robes, towels and slippers are provided. The property consists of a sweeping driveway and as you go through the front door, you have a large living room with a wood burning stove and Smart TV leading to a games room with bar area and a separate children’s playroom. There is a second living room with wood burner and Smart TV leading to a formal dining room, large open plan kitchen with a second dining table and garden room. There is alsoa utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. The ground floor bedroom has level access and may be suitable for less mobile guests and the dining room has a large dining table.

There are many local attractions all within a short car journey, including National Trust properties such as Powis Castle, Attingham Park estate in the medieval town of Shrewsbury and Chirk Castle. Offas Dyke, Glyndwr Way and the River Severn are also close by. The market towns of Oswestry and Welshpool are within a short drive. Chester is a 1½ hours away and Shrewsbury is just 30 minutes’ away by car. All offer a large array of shops and restaurants for guests to enjoy. For the more active guests, there is a great selection of walks, such as the Llanymynech Rocks nature reserve, or for those looking for longer walks, the Shropshire Hills is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty all well worth a visit. The Snowdonia National Park starts on top of the Berwyns, and you will find many places to visit for a day trip, including a white-water rafting centre, sailing at Lake Bala, Bounce Below, and Zip World at Blaenau Ffestiniog. A visit to Shropshire is only a 20-minute drive away, where you will find the Severn Valley Railway, RAF Museum Cosford, along with the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site. Medieval Powys Castle (National Trust) in Welshpool is a 30-minute drive and has a world-famous garden, or you could visit the charming town of Montgomery, a 45-minute drive, which offers beautiful scenery and walks. The West Wales coastline is only an hour’s drive with lovely sandy beaches.

Avon Lodge at Daisy Bank Caravan Park is a friendly adult only, family-owned caravan park. Set in 7 acres of beautiful countryside between Bishops Castle in Shropshire and Welshpool in Powys, Wales. It’s perfect for guests who want to enjoy a comfortable private base to explore the local area, visit family, or enjoy the great outdoors. The new (in 2022) self-contained lodge is perfectly situated offering a quiet and comfortable stay. Internally, the lodge has two bedrooms, one double bedroom and the second a single bed. Both cleverly designed incorporating furniture to utilise the space and offering loads of natural light. The main bathroom with shower is a generous size with modern fixtures. The open plan modern kitchen/dining area has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Around the corner is the living area, spacious and airy with patio doors that open out onto the decking area. On the decking you will find lovely outdoor furniture, to relax and take in the peaceful and beautiful area.
Externally, there is vast amounts of rural space, with views of the Shropshire countryside. Being an adult only Caravan Park, there are other guests staying here, giving you the choice to make friends or be perfectly independent. For most things you need go no further than Churchstoke Shopping Centre just 2 miles along the road from Daisy Bank. Here you will find a good sized supermarket, butchers, post office, and petrol station. There is also a plant centre, hairdresser, pound store and a café. Bishops Castle has some small but very good independent retailers. Bishops Castle is also home to two micro-brewery’s, which are well worth a visit. Fishing is available along the River Severn and its tributaries between Newtown and Welshpool. The Montgomery Canal is also popular and requires a club fishing permit. Clun is a pretty river crossing with remains of a Norman castle. Visit Craven Arms for Stokesay Castle, a fine medieval fortified house. Church Stretton, like Clun and Bishops Castle, is a centre for walking routes. Further afield, Ironbridge, tells of the industrial revolution through its magnificent River Severn bridge and museums. Ludlow’s annual food festival adds to its reputation for dining and shopping. It has an impressive castle and riverside.
