Still part of the farm but located 4 miles away is Osprey Cottage (ref UZQ), a delightful, light and sunny, single-storey detached cottage.
Set amongst beautiful farmland and fruit-growing country, they make an excellent choice for relaxing breaks in the heart of rural Perthshire. The estate makes an ideal base for exploring central Scotland, Edinburgh, Perth, St Andrews and the Highlands. Glamis Castle is a few miles away. Set within the owners’ 17-acre grounds, The Old Inverchroskie Kennels is a beautifully modernised, detached stone-built cottage set in an elevated position. Commanding fine views of the grounds and hills beyond, there is a stone patio at the front, perfect for sitting out on sunny days with a glass or two, and a private garden area at the back with another sitting-out area, where you can often see the red squirrels bounding from tree to tree. Although there isn’t an enclosed garden, two dogs are welcome at this pet-friendly property. Inside, the open plan living room and kitchen are flooded with light from the high Velux windows and French doors, and there is a wood burner adding to the sense of comfort within.

Wildlife abounds with red squirrels, fallow deer, hare and endless birds on the property, and pine martens can be seen from a nearby local hide. With a plethora of walks and cycle paths waiting to be explored nearby, including the Cateran Trail, your holiday can be as relaxing or as energetic as you like. The village of Kirkmichael is only a couple of miles away with two pubs, a local shop and tearoom. Pitlochry is 10 miles away with shops, eateries, salmon ladder and festival theatre - a very popular venue which hosts a wide range of productions throughout the year.

The lively towns of Blairgowrie, Perth and Dundee (home of Captain Scott’s ship ’Discovery’) are within easy reach, along with the skiing resort of Glenshee, the largest ski area in Scotland. Beyond Glenshee is Braemar, home to the famous Braemar Gathering, a key event in the Scottish Highland Games calendar and one attended by Her Majesty the Queen every year. There is an abundance of wildlife to spot, have your camera at the ready to snap red squirrels, deer, pine martens and so many wild birds including ospreys. In the winter, the hills are perfect for sledging or skiing on gentle slopes, and spring and summer brings longer evenings to enjoy the wild birds and flowers, and with very little light pollution, enjoy the stars in the night sky.
The attractive Highland village of Killin is within walking distance along a quiet pathway where you will find bars, cafés, bistros, restaurants, shops, a 9-hole golf course and the spectacular Falls Of Dochart. Killin plays host to events throughout the year including the Highland games and a fireworks display on New Year’s Eve.
This part of Scotland is steeped in history and legend. Acharn was once owned by the McNab clan and there are many other historic sites and buildings to visit close by including Finlarig Castle. If you enjoy the great outdoors this area provides walking, cycling and hill walking.
