It’s been lovingly converted by the owners, with views overlooking the surrounding countryside, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings whilst having village amenities only a short 5 min drive away.

Converted by the owners, South Steadings is rich in character with traditional stone floors. All on one level, the barn offers a high standard of comfort throughout and is a great choice at any time of the year. Ideal for couples or families, there are three bedrooms with welcoming cosy beds, a king-size bedroom with en-suite walk-in shower room, a double room and a twin served by a stylish family bathroom with bath & shower over. The large open plan living/kitchen/diner is a great social space with a log burner to keep you warm whatever the weather!
Perfect for families, there’s a large enclosed garden with Hot Tub, log cabin, plenty of toys/books to occupy the kids plus a travel cot & highchair available. Storage space for outdoor gear, bikes and kayaks in private barn storage. Dogs are most welcome who will also enjoy the enclosed garden, with an outside tap, ideal for giving them a bath or cool down!
Just 2 miles from South Steading, is the pretty seaside town of West Kilbride with fantastic views across the water to Arran and surrounding islands. Designated Scotland’s first Craft Town, visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the village where they will find a range of cafes, mini galleries, a dedicated craft centre, pubs and gift shops. Also offering the more practical elements for your holiday such as a post office, small supermarkets and a railway station.
Ayrshire is famous worldwide for golf and offers world class championship courses at Turnberry, Royal Troon and Prestwick. The West Kilbride Golf Club offers a championship links course located in Seamill, 3 miles from the farm.
Largs and Ardrossan are popular seaside towns, 8 miles and 7 miles away respectively, where there are watersports offered. Sandy beaches in Seamill. The Firth of Clyde has excellent sailing with yachting clubs and marinas at Ardrossan,Largs, Inverkip and Troon. There are also good opportunities for hill walking and mountain biking, field sports including horse riding, shooting and fishing. Visitors will enjoy visiting the historic castles at Portencross, Hunterston and Law Castle and enjoy the views from the local Tarbert Hill and Law Hill.
Ferries from Ardrossan a short distance from the barn take you to isle of Arran and short ferry hop from Largs to the small island of Cumbrae to visit the only town on the island, Millport for an icecream or enjoy a cycle, 11miles around the whole island.

Situated on a working farm, The Barn has been converted out of the old part of the farm steading and refurbished in 2018. Nestled in the Girthon Valley and surrounded by some of the best scenery in Galloway, with great walks, both woodland and coastal. Galloway has 200 miles of beautiful coastline, wild mountains and moorland, pretty towns and charming villages. The area also offers a wide range of activities for the whole family to enjoy, be it visiting the local ice cream factory, Cream O’ Galloway at Sandgreen, CocoaBean Chocolate Factory at Twynholm or why not visit Laggan Outdoors, which has one of the longest zip wires in Europe. There are many exciting and beautiful cycle paths straight from your door or try the world famous 7Stanes challenge. There is an abundance of local lochs and rivers if fishing is preferred! There is something for everyone in this beautiful unspoilt corner of Scotland. The cottage is only a few minutes drive from the charming town of Gatehouse of Fleet which offers a wide range of places to eat and relax. Fiona’s Cottage is an immaculately-presented, semi-detached holiday home, renovated to a good standard and thoughtfully furnished for guests’ comfort and ease. There are 20 golf courses within 20 miles including the famous Gleneagles. Other attractions include lochs and river fishing (Salmon, Grayling and Trout Fishing, at cost, licence required), horse riding, mountain climbing, whisky distilleries, castles, parks and gardens to visit. Terraughtie Cottage East is a delightful semi-detached cottage set along an unclassified road, on the outskirts of Dumfries, offering a lovely countryside location yet close enough for a lovely walk or cycle into town, around the local countryside or on the nearby cycle pathways. Terraughtie Cottage East has been completely renovated and modernised throughout in 2020 and offers the perfect and most comfortable home from home. There is a cosy wood burner in the sitting room just perfect for those chillier nights, and new and modern bathrooms and kitchen. The large gardens are the ideal playground for kids with plenty of space for them to enjoy whilst the adults relax. What better way to relax?
Only a few minutes’ walk from Terraughtie Cottage East is Kilnford Kitchen and Farm Shop. Before enjoying a bite to eat take a stroll through the nature trail where you can see belted Galloway cows or partake in a spot of bird watching from the bird hide. There is a secret garden where younger members of the family will love exploring. The farm shop stocks everything from gifts and flowers to takeaway meals. There is even an adventure playground for the children.
If fishing is your passion you can walk/cycle easily to Auldernauk Fishery from Terraughtie Cottage East, a most attractive and well stocked three acre fly-only loch holding good sized rainbow, blue, brown and tiger trout! A quiet and friendly family-owned fishery run by anglers.
If you can tear yourself away for a day sightseeing, the area is renowned for its rugged beauty from beautiful sandy beaches, cliff top walks and forest trails. The world renowned 7stanes mountain biking routes are also within easy reach. The area is well recognised for its clear skies as one of the 12 best stargazing sites in the world, with the Galloway Forest Park being the first Dark Sky Park in the UK. Waterloo Farm House is a traditional, stone-built, C-listed, detached cottage with a generous sized garden, providing a wonderful place for couples, friends and families to relax and enjoy this excellent property. Set in the quiet hamlet of Waterloo, it is believed that the original properties in the area were built for the soldiers returning from the Napoleonic Wars or for the widows of soldiers who did not return from the famous battle. It is thought that Waterloo Farm House was built around 1815 and in recent times was a berry farm but is no longer a working farm.
This beautiful cottage has been completely rebuilt internally to provide a modern layout and was just completed in summer 2019, yet still maintains its original charm and character. The welcoming and bright living/dining room has large, comfortable sofas, attractive lighting and a wood burner ensuring this space is a cosy hub for guests to gather. Leading off from the living/dining room is the kitchen, equipped with quality appliances, and a breakfast area. There are stereo ceiling speakers in all rooms providing a shared sound system throughout the house or independent music from your Bluetooth enabled device in your own room if you prefer. The back door leads to a small patio where guests can enjoy breakfast or a morning coffee. There is a large enclosed lawned garden at the front of the property with a patio and garden furniture, ideal for an impromptu barbecue.
Waterloo Farm House is in a great location for exploring this picturesque area which you can do on foot or by bike and there are lots of footpaths and quiet lanes directly from the doorstep. The village of Bankfoot is just 1 mile away, with a pavement all the way from the cottage and is very handy for a local store or one of the two local small hotels with bars. The attractive town of Dunkeld is only 5 miles away and makes a great day out with its historic cathedral and buildings, and a good selection of quality restaurants, coffee shops, delis, interesting independent shops, galleries and walks along the River Tay. Birnam is close by and is one of the best preserved historic towns in Scotland. The Arts Centre is home to the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Garden which is well worth a visit. Walk along the riverside and discover magnificent old trees in the Birnam Wood which was mentioned in Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The bustling city of Perth is only 10 miles away and is packed with places to eat and drink and has a theatre, museum, swimming pool and a great selection of shops including high street names and local boutiques. The railway stations at both Perth and Dunkeld have frequent services to Inverness and Aviemore, or you could be in the centre of Edinburgh in just over an hour without the stress of finding parking. Set in the heart of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, The Stables and The Ploughmans are cottages which have been thoughtfully converted from farm buildings using the original old stone and set within an attractive courtyard next to the farm house. They are surrounded by unspoilt countryside and set in a haven of peace and tranquillity, providing a wonderful holiday retreat and an ideal base for friends and family to spend time together and explore Loch Lomond and beyond. Set on a working farm with cattle and sheep, the owner will arrange a private tour of a modern day dairy for guests, by prior arrangement. If you enjoy fishing then complimentary permits are available (by prior arrangement) on the owners private stretch of Endrick River nearby.
If you enjoy outdoor activities, there is walking, cycling, golf, fishing, pony trekking and water sports nearby, as well the Rob Roy Way and Cycle Track 7, both of which pass close by making this a perfect location for nature lovers to explore one of Scotland’s most picturesque areas with lochs, mountains and spectacular scenery. The Trossachs Discovery Centre is well worth a visit where you can learn more about this exciting area, there are cruise trips on both Loch Lomond and Loch Katrine. In the surrounding area there are some excellent places for food and drink, the famous Nick Nairn Cook School is only 10 minutes’ drive, there are several whisky distilleries within 30 minutes’ drive and restaurants, cafés and farm shops. This area is steeped in history, Stirling is 18 miles away with its ancient castle, Wallace monument and Bannockburn Visitor Centre, along with many historic links to people such as Rob Roy Macgregor, William Wallace and Mary Queen of Scots, all of whom had a part to play in the history of this area. There are lots of film locations to be visited within a short drive including Doune Castle which became the fictional Castle Leoch.
The Stables is a terraced cottage and provides easy access with a comfortable double bedroom and wet room on the ground floor. The spacious cosy living room has patio doors leading to the garden making it perfect for al fresco dining in the summer months or just relaxing and admiring the views. The large kitchen/dining room is well-equipped and all guests can comfortably sit around the table and plan their next day’s adventures. On the first floor there is a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, a twin bedroom and a large family bathroom with bath and shower cubicle.
The Ploughmans is ideal for a couple or a small family. On the ground floor there is a comfortable living room and French doors that lead into the well-kept garden, offering the perfect spot to sit, relax and enjoy the views, escaping from the hustle and bustle of daily life. There is an open plan kitchen/dining room where you can prepare that special meal. On the first floor there is a spacious double bedroom, a twin bedroom and family bathroom.

Furnished and equipped to very high standards, they ensure a comfortable and pleasant holiday in this lovely part of the Highlands. Activities include mountain biking in the forest trails, fishing and stalking (by prior arrangement), hill walking or kayaking on the lochs and rivers. Golf courses nearby. Nestled away in the charming village of Gargunnock, this traditional, detached stone built cottage dates back to the late 1800s and has been renovated to provide a welcoming, spacious holiday cottage. From your front door you can walk to the local inn providing good quality food and drink. Pub/restaurant 500 yards.
There are plenty of walks through the countryside. The hills around the village have splendid views over to Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park and Ben Lomond. For guests who enjoy exploring the local area by bike, there are numerous quiet roads and pathways through the countryside and to the neighbouring village of Kippen. There is trout and salmon fishing on the nearby Lake of Mentieth and you will need a licence. Enjoy a round of golf on one of the numerous golf courses nearby and Gleneagles Resort can be reached in under 45 minutes.
A great location for exploring the local area, Stirling is only 6 miles away and offers guests an abundance of historic and popular attractions to visit and explore, including Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument. Stirling has something to suit all ages and tastes with many popular events held at the Toll Booth and Albert Halls. There is a regular Farmers Market offering local produce, as well as many various pubs, restaurants and a shopping centre. For fans of the epic TV series Outlander there are several places to visit that were used in the filming, Doune Castle is only 15 minutes’ drive and others can be reached in under an hour.
For the kids in particular. there are Blair Drummond Safari Park, Briarlands Farm Park and Stirling Alpaca Centre all within 5 miles.
At the edge of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, Briar Cottage is an ideal location for outdoor activities or a scenic drive through breathtaking scenery with lochs and mountains. The motorway network is only 10 minutes away and less than an hour takes you to the vibrant cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth and Dundee. If you would prefer to leave the car then Stirling railway station has a frequent regular service.

The Soup Kitchen has played an important role in village life and the local community of Borgue over the last 150 years or so. You won’t find soup served in The Soup Kitchen today but you will find a stunning holiday home to call yours for the week.
This upside down house sits on the edge of the village and enjoys superb views. One particular feature is the spacious living room with floor to ceiling windows and patio doors opening onto a covered veranda, which makes the most of the views and is perfect for sitting enjoying the morning sun over breakfast. From the living room there is a kitchen, again allowing you to enjoy the views and a lovely dining room which overlooks the village. Venture outside and you will not be disappointed, a hot tub is situated in a purpose built cabin so you can enjoy the bubbles in rain, sleet or snow.
Starting life as a house, then a Free Church and a school, it then became apparent that there was no need for two schools in such a small community so it became a store. On the 5th of December 1844 the idea came about to ensure every child in the community had the opportunity to have a hot meal during the months of October to March, hence the name “The Soup Kitchen”.
Borgue is a charming little village with a local pub serving food so no need to cook, allowing you to really relax and enjoy the area. The village is close to many beautiful beaches, coastal walks and stunning rolling countryside. A short drive away will take you to Kirkcudbright, a lovely town on the estuary which still has a bustling harbour. Stroll through the town and visit Broughton House, once home to the famed Scottish painter E. A. Hornel. Kirkcudbright is known as “the artists’ town”, having hosted generations of painters, craft-makers and artisans, a culture that is still thriving today. The town attracts visitors throughout the year, drawn in by the harbour, the historic high street and the diverse range of annual events and visitor attractions. The popular programme of summer festivities culminates with the spectacular Tattoo, an event not to be missed. The area has numerous walks available, from scenic coastal strolls to forest trails. With sailing, swimming, riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports all close by there is sure to be something for everyone. Warmed by the gulf stream there are many beautiful gardens to visit, including National Trust Threave Gardens. Close to the Galloway Forest Park, the first Dark Sky Park in the UK, and central to 5 of the 7Stanes, it is a popular location for cyclists and mountain bikers. Beach 3 miles.
