Dog-Friendly Scottish Highlands

You can only relax when staying at the West Highland Hot Tub, Rum Studio, with the uninterrupted views over to the Isle of Eigg, Isle of Rum or the south end of the Isle of Skye. You can also be the envy of all your friends as you watch the Hogwarts steam train coming into Mallaig station, from your private hot tub on your balcony; both the bed and the sofa enjoy the same beautiful views.
When you enter Rum Studio your gaze will automatically be drawn to the patio windows and the picture view; it is everything and more that you would receive in a luxury hotel room. It is furnished and decorated to a high standard including the finest Egyptian cotton sheets and eco-friendly towels and bath robes. In fact, everything about the studio is eco-friendly, from the biomass heating which also gives you underfloor heating in the bathroom, through to the heating of your private hot tub from the hot water via the biomass boiler. The bathroom has grab rails and a seat in the wet room shower, whilst the door to the bathroom is a sliding door to give a larger access. There is an electric vehicle charger which is shared with the neighbouring studios.
Just a 2-minute walk will take you to the centre of Mallaig with restaurants offering fish caught that same day off the coast of Mallaig. You also have a local fishmonger, supermarket with café, ice cream parlours and Haggard Alley. There is a lot to do from Mallaig; be a passenger on the Hogwarts steam train and enjoy the spectacular scenery going over the Glenfinnan viaduct en-route to Fort William, with Ben Nevis and the Ben Nevis whisky distillery. Go on a boat trip to the neighbouring Isle of Eigg, Isle of Rum or the Isle of Skye, alternatively, visit Knoydart with the most remote pub in the UK. Whilst on the boat trip or ferry, make sure to look out for the dolphins or the seal families.
The nearest beach that is non tidal is 2 miles from the studio, the Silver sands of Morar, and there is also the long beach at Camusdarach which on a nice day offers you a lovely walk along the shoreline. Fishing and Golf is also available locally, as are water adventures ranging from kayaking to snorkelling and diving. Whether you are visiting for walking, activities or sightseeing, Rum Studio is a wonderful place to come back to and reminisce and plan the following day.

Filled with all practical amenities, Speed Cottage has a lovely outdoor seating area for the wonderfully light, and more often than you would think, warm evenings. The bedroom is perfect for a couple or two people travelling together, and this spacious room can be twinned or set up as a kingsize bed.
The living room is a spacious room with a cosy feel, with a convenient and comfortable sofa bed for flexible sleeping arrangements. The room also has a TV and plentiful seating areas, whilst the bathroom has a charming, tiled floor and has a bath with shower over, ideal for a couple in the cottage.

Situated above Loch Linnhe with uninterrupted views over towards Corpach and Trislaig, you can watch the sea and golden eagles above from the decking of this pod, as well as the roe deer visiting you in the morning. Unlike other pods, Cheviot comes with a full-size shower, a wood burner, a kingsize bed, a sofa bed for two children and a kitchen with a mini fridge and freezer. This is the perfect spot to relax in and enjoy the area with many activities and attractions within driving distance.
The nearest pubs, restaurants and shops are within 1 mile from Cheviot pod. The train station (which is less than 2 miles will away) will take you on the Harry Potter Steam Train and over the Glenfinnan Viaduct, passing some of the most spectacular scenery and beaches that cannot be seen from the road down to Mallaig. The latter is renowned as a fishing village and also where you can get a ferry over to the Isle of Skye (remember to pre book the train as it fills up quickly).
Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the UK and is one of the munros you can enjoy a walk up to the summit. The Nevis Range hosts the European Bike Trials.
South of Fort William you have Glencoe; no matter what time of year you travel through Glencoe it is a mystical land and will not fail to impress. Again, it offers great walks for all abilities and there is also a ski lift for those that enjoy the winter sport (in the summer the dry ski slope is open for tubing, a great fun day for all the family). If you are looking for something to do on a rest day in Fort William itself, there is a cinema, soft play, ten pin bowling, swimming pool or enjoy a walk over to Neptunes Staircase.
Using Cheviot pod as your base, you can also visit the Acharacle Peninsula; the fish capital of the Highlands, Oban; Loch Ness; the Isle of Mull, Rum and Eigg and many more.

Cruives Lodge is located in a quiet location on the banks of the River Beauly and is perfect for a large family holiday, with every room providing ample space for everyone to enjoy. Walking through the front door takes you into a spacious reception area, directly in front of you is large living room with comfy sofas, TV and patio door out to the garden with its breath-taking views and sounds of the river.
The huge dining room features a large table with 18 dining chairs, and boasts amazing views of the river. Through the hall is the fully equipped kitchen, with centre island and Range master cooker. There is a large rod and boot room for drying coats and footwear after a busy day exploring the area. Leading off from here is a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, alongside a small cloakroom.
The property boasts six spacious double bedrooms, five of which have their own en-suite (an en-suite bedroom is located on the ground floor, ideal for those with mobility issues). The sixth bedroom is located next to the family bathroom.
Outside there is parking for six vehicles and to the front of the property is a seating area with table and chairs and a brick barbecue. The property has direct access on to the river with no secure barriers, so please be aware of this if your booking includes young children.
Cruives Lodge is located approximately 1 mile from the village of Beauly, which has a selection of local shops including a butchers and bakery, cafés, restaurants and bars. There are many lovely walks in the area, and you can take in the beautiful scenery directly from the lodge. Inverness City is 20 minutes away and offers something for everyone. There are four golf courses nearby, one of which is Castle Stuart which has hosted The Scottish Open. Enjoy fishing in the River Ness, visit the Eden Court Theatre, take in a film at the cinema, or spend a day at the trampoline park or the Aquadome.

There are wonderful walks direct from the hut, along with numerous spectacular sandy beaches all along this unspoilt coastline. There are many places to visit, including the Inverewe Gardens near Poolewe, Loch Maree and the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve near Kinlochewe, and to the south, Torridon and the outstanding mountain scenery in this area as well as the pretty village of Lochcarron. A trip to Ullapool is within a day trip from Gairloch and you will pass several highland villages and crofting communities along the way, including Poolewe, Aultbea, Laide, Camusnagaul, Dundonnell. Sea Thistle Cottage is a charming, traditional, semi-detached, 19th-century fisherman’s cottage for two. Situated in the heart of the historic fisher town area of Nairn, it is just a few yards from the stunning sweeping sands and delightful Victorian sea front. The cottage is located in one of the tiny winding streets that fisher town is noted for, yet it has its own parking and even a little courtyard area at the side. The cottage provides the best of modern living whilst retaining its original charm and ambience, such as thick stone walls. The main living area is open plan, with a large living room, with feature electric fire and wall-mounted smart TV, this L-shaped room has a dining area in the corner.
